"Huh? I'm alive? And...Almond?!"

"Roguefort! I'm so glad you're alright!"

Roguefort sat up from the yoga mat he was sleeping on, taking in the new surroundings before-

"Wait. This was your house?!"

"Yeah, I found you on the verge of complete sogginess in my room. Thank goodness you're fine."

Roguefort blanked out of a few seconds like a lagging computer before freaking out.

"Oh no, my family must be after me right now, I probably shouldn't have run away-"

"Calm down, Roguefort, you're safe here for now."

A female Cookie emerged from the stairs.

"Mom! Roguefort's awake!"

"Mom...?"

"Cashew Cookie, at your service. Anyways, I think you have quite a lot of explaining to do as to how you ended up here."

~~

"His condition is less severe thanks to the work you did when you found him. He should be healed up in about a week."

"Oh, thank god."

"Is there anything special we have to do?"

"I don't think there is. Just don't block off all airflow from the house, though I'm sure you won't do that. You two did a fantastic job recovering him. If you weren't that well-known I would've thought you were a family of nurses and doctors."

"A good detective also needs some good first aid skills. Thanks for the compliment."

"No problem. I'll take my leave now."

"Thanks, Doctor."

The doctor then left the mansion, the door shutting with a bang.

~~

"Wait, so basically you ran away and ended up here?!"

"Yeah, I couldn't stand it anymore, I just decided to run away on the spur of the moment. But now...they might start a chase against me."

"Actually, I don't think they will. Everyone is on the hunt for the rest of your family after...recent events."

"It's been, like, 3 months, but sure...the hunt never stops, as Mozzarella made headlines."

"So...what do we do now?"

The three Cookies sat in silence before Cashew finally spoke up.

"We have plenty of spare rooms. The room next to Almond's is free, you can stay there for now. You'll be safe here, I believe. Perhaps you can even attend Almond's classes and training as a friend."

"You're letting him stay?! Really?!"

"Well, if that's fine with Roguefort. Just don't go outside unless we're with you, and don't break anything. I suppose you're not the kind of person to wield a knife, so I don't suppose leaving you here will pose any harm to us."

Roguefort looked at the female Cookie in shock, surprised by her hospitality to himself, whose sister literally murdered her husband, as well as her ability to tell his personality.

"I can tell just from your expression and the way you stand. Your tone confirms you're not bloodthirsty like the rest of your family as well."

Almond marveled at his mother's analyzation despite seeing it countless times before. To analyse a Cookie who she barely knew with such precision was no easy task and he knew it.

"But aren't you supposed to hate us? I mean, we've caused you so much trouble..."

"Well, you did steal that bar of soap..."

"I didn't know that was an emerald, my father would kill me if I didn't bring anything back."

"Don't worry, we won't report your small crime, right mom?"

"Of course. I know that Gouda and Cheddar must be extremely demanding even in the few moments we met. You are just a Cookie after all, and no Cookie deserves to be forced into the life of a criminal, especially at such a young age."

"16's a young age?" Roguefort asked.

"Wait, your birthday passed? When we met in camp you were 15..."

"Yeah, only day without vigorous training."

"Happy late birthday! Sorry I never got to tell you on time."

"Ah, it's fine, thanks, Almond."

"So, these are all the truths I've never known..."

Blueberry Pie was flipping through the pages of the Topaz Tome, enthralled by all the knowledge she'd never known before.

From simple white lies to life-changing lies, the Topaz Tome held all the truths - it would undeniably be a dangerous weapon if it fell into the wrong hands.

"I pity her. Perhaps she'd be living a better life if it weren't for..."

A tanned Cookie bursts into the Archives.

Instantly, the monster from the Sapphire Tome beside Blueberry Pie jumps out, glowing a bright blue, its scorpion-like appearance scaring the Cookie at the Archives' doors.

"Calm now. She does no harm."

The monster does not retreat, a terrified expression still plastered on the Cookie's face.

"Get back inside the tome."

The monster shakes its head, creeping closer to the panic-stricken Cookie, who runs behind a pillar.

Sighing, Blueberry Pie grabs a handful of magic powder from a pocket hidden in her robe.

Like being sucked by a vacuum, the monster retreats into the Tome, the sounds of its growling filling the air before it was nowhere to be seen.

"You can come out now. It just got a bit feral, we don't get non-mage visitors often.

The female Cookie creeps out from her hiding spot. Seeing that the coast is clear, she steps out and walks to the librarian.

"What was that?!"

"This is the City of Wizards after all. Magic is everywhere. Now, what brings you to the Archives?"

The Cookie's face turns serious after hearing Blueberry Pie's question.

"Right. I'm looking for a book with a yellow jewel on it?"

"You mean the Topaz Tome. What do you need it for?"

"I need to keep it. A few of the truths in it have been hidden by my family for decades on end, and some mischievous...toddlers decided to play with it. I'm assuming you have it here?"

"I see. I'm afraid I cannot give it to you; it belongs to the Archives and the Archives alone."

The tanned Cookie seemed taken aback before she regained her composure and spoke.

"I have to retrieve it. It holds a secret that is very important. It could-"

"Change the rivalry of the Nuts and Cheeses?"

"Precisely."

"That gives me more reason to keep it here. It is the safest in the Archives, as you may have realised from your sudden entrance. It cannot fall into the wrong hands if it is kept here, as the magic of the Archives will forbid it from leaving."

"Very well then. Just let me look at the truth one more time."
