Chapter four - dates & diners
"Hey mom" Claire said as she walked in.
"I'm not mom but-"
"Kai!" She yelled as she seen her big brother.
"Hey loser" He said as they hugged each other.
"When did you come back from New York?" She ask they they let each other go.
"I came right after you left. I already surprised mom when she left" He told her and they took a seat on the couch.
"How long are you staying?" She asked.
"Two months. After I completed my Criminology Class my professor told our class the next term is in Two Months because he also teaches Creative Writing" he explained.
"How much coffee did you drink in order to pass your classes?" She asked him.
"Lorelei Gilmore coffee" He said causing them to laugh.
"How you holding up" He asked.
"It hurts still, i have days but: i'm fine" She told him.
"How about we go to Jem's. I'll pay" He said trying to cheer up his little sister.
"Alright then" She said giving a bright smile to him.
"Kai Valentine. It's been a while since you've been here" Jem said as she poured him coffee and handed Claire the glass of coke.
"Thanks" she mumbled.
"I'm back, but only for two months. Then I go back" He told her.
"Well, I'm sure Melanie is glad your back" She told him and walked off.
"I'm loved here" He said. Claire scoffed. Then she got a text.

She sighed and put her phone down. "Hey, you know we could just order from here. Let's go pick flowers" Claire told her big brother.
"Why?" He asked as he sipped his coffee.
"Kai!" She semi screamed.
"Okay, let's go" They were about to get up and the bell rings at the door.
There stood Eliot Archibald with his skateboard out of breath as if he rushed here. He smiled at Claire and she put her head down on the table.
"Why did he just smile at you oh-" Kai said and he turned to see Claire slightly banging her head on the table.
"See, now, we don't want to do that" Kai said grabbing her head.
"Can we leave. I'll slip Jem a 20 to distract him" She whispered to him.
"Eliot Archibald" She mumbled.
"Archibald? As in the little brother of AJ Archibald?" He asked and she nodded.
"When did you get the courage to-"
"he did it on his own" she answered.
Eliot Archibald said at their table with a plate full of fries. "Hey" He turned to Claire.
"So, we should get going?" Claire told her brother.
"No, no we should stay" Kai responded.
"Hi i'm Kai Valentine: her brother. Older of course, the better sibling" He turned to Eliot. "You are so not" She told him.
"What?" They both ask.
"Nothing, why did you come?" She turned to him.
"I wanted to hang out" He gave her the same smile he's been giving her ever since they met.
"Oh! look at the time. I'm going to go visit mom. I'll see you at home. Or not" Kai said awkwardly making Claire eyes go wide and Eliot Archibald chuckle.
"Love you" He said and kissed her forehead and headed out.
"Would you look at that, two people at a table: with a plate of fries at a diner. Almost like a date" Eliot Archibald told her.
"No" She turned to him with a straight face.
"Hey can we talk about-"
"No".
"But-"
"Drop it Archibald" She told him.
"So, What do you wanna do?" He said and put his arm the bench.
"Well, i was here with my brother because he came back from college" She told him.
"I have to thank Vereena for sending me that screenshot. Hey why don't you share your location with me" He smiled at her.
"The only person i share my location is with Vereena. She does the same. I worry about that girl sometimes".
"I'll share mine. So then you'll know where i am at all times" he said pulling out his phone.
"That's actually a great idea. So then when i see that your at my house i'll just go somewhere else" She smiled at him.
"I like your smile, Claire Valentine" He told her making Claire look away.
"Can you stop that please" She said forcing herself to not smile.
"You have nice eyes too" he continues.
"Eliot Archibald please" She said and looked down.
"Look, if you want to hang out right now. Don't play that prince act you use on all the other girls" She turned to him.
"Fine" he nodded and ate a fry.
"I got you your fries" He said pointing to the plate.
She took one, "thanks".
"Hey! Claire Valentine being nice to Eliot Archibald" He joked lifting up his hand. "Don't get used to it, it's going to be a rare sighting" she said and ate another fry.
"So, what songs do you want me to play outside your window?" He asked turning his body towards her.
"Mmm, if we're going for cliche obviously Taylor Swift." She went along. She grabbed and grabbed his shoulders, "you have to play Ricky Montgomery".
Eliot Archibald and Claire Valentine both noticed what she did. She immediately pulled away. "That was nice, seeing you excited" He told her.
"Hey, it's getting pretty late. I should take you home" Eliot Archibald told her.
"You came here on a skateboard" She turned to him.
"I'll walk you home. You never know what creeps are out" he told her.
"Yeah, creeps that like to scream the wrong lyrics at a girls window" Claire joked. "Those are the worst. Thank god you have me to protect you"
"Stop! stop i don't want too" Claire told Carter as they were about walk in the haunted house. "Come on Valentine. We've been planning this since the beginning of the year" Carter told her. "There actually might be creeps in there" she said latching her arm onto them. "Thank god you have me to protect you" Carter smiled at her.
"Claire?" Eliot Archibald asked her again. "I'm sorry, we should get going" She said and got up. Along with Eliot Archibald.

"Thanks again. For actually letting me do something" Eliot Archibald told her as they walk up the street. "I didn't have a choice but i guess it was fun" She said and smiled at him. "You know how to skateboard?" He asked. "I did when i was elementary. But i kinda forgot everything once i entered Middle school" She explained.
"Another day Eliot Archibald. Here i am" She told him as they reach her street. "I'll see you tomorrow Claire Valentine".
