"Who are Soulmates?" Jina's mother said, "They are people who share a part of each other's soul, just like the name suggests. However, soulmates are not just about that."

Jina looked at her mother keenly. "I've heard about that," she said. She was impatient to know more. Her mother chuckled, encouraging her curiosity.

"Good, that is the basic definition. Soulmates are partners who can understand your happiness, sorrow, and grief. Their presence has a great impact on each other." Her mother paused.

"However, there is one thing you must know. One can be a soulmate to another only if there is a connection between them; therefore, strangers cannot be soulmates."

"Strangers cannot be soulmates," Jina repeated.

"I believe not. Remember, they might not become your soulmate right away; wrong choices tear soulmates apart," she smiled. Something about the smile felt different.

"What powers do I have?" Jina asked curiously.

"I cannot predict the power between you and your soulmate," her mother said. "It differs, Jina. It could be something unique. I heard a few can listen to each other's thoughts, and many believe it is based on their past."

"Listen to my thoughts?" Jina asked. She wasn't sure if she'd like someone to hear what she was thinking. I mean, who would?

"That's right; the rest I'll tell you later," Her mother said. Jina was thinking about the powers two soulmates can share.

She became quiet for a while, taking in what her mother had just said. "The books I read had similar theories in them. It said it is related to one's past," she said.

Her mother looked at her for a moment. "Any other questions?" she asked.

"Do soulmates always end up together?"

"Not all the time; it's just like love. You do not always end up with the person you like, right?" her mother asked as Jina nodded her head.

"It's the same as that. It's like a bond shared between two," she concluded. "I'll tell you more about them next time, Jina."

"It's not difficult to understand, but I want to make sure you understand it well; it's the least I could do." Her mother said this with a fond smile on her face.

"Alright," Jina replied as she played with her fingers, busy thinking about what her mother had just said. It's just like love, but more complicated, she thought.

"So your CEO had a date?" Luna's voice trailed off as she became unusually quiet. "Yeah, that's what he said," Jina replied, her hands on the steering wheel. Luna had called her when she was about to leave her mother's place.

"Why are you quiet?" Jina asked. Usually, Luna would go like:

"You totally missed your chance."

Or

"One big loser, you are."

Or, occasionally

"I'll search for a good one for you."

But this time she was quiet, and Jina's thoughts were confirmed.

"You like my CEO, don't you?" She asked slowly. Luna still didn't respond. "I had my doubts; why did you want me to end up with him when you liked him?" she questioned.

"It wasn't a big deal; he's funny, kind, and good-looking; he was just my type, that's all," She replied.

"And?"

"I just wanted to forget about him; he probably never noticed me. He's a moon, and I'm just one among the stars," she replied.

"It's alright; it's no big deal. Hey, Jina, I have work to do. Later," Luna hung up the phone before she had a chance to say anything.

"I wouldn't be too sure If I were you," She said. She had noticed the sparkle in Jin's eye when he gazed at Luna. "Maybe you aren't just a star."
