"Eleven long hours and I'm finally here!" I mumbled to myself as I unplugged my iPhone out of the aux and turned my car off.

I looked around at my surroundings and nodded my head in approval. The neighborhood I would be staying in didn't look so bad. For the most part, it seemed quiet. At least I hope so.

I grabbed my phone and keys, leaving my many bags in the car to collect later on. Right now, I wanted to look around and most of all, meet my roommate.

I didn't have a key at the moment so I knocked on the door, waiting for someone to answer. I sighed to myself as I patiently waited for whoever my roommate was to come to the door. Eventually, I heard the locks turn and the door open.

"Oh, hi! You must be my roommate!" The woman said. I smiled back at her, looking at her up and down. Thankfully I had shades on so she couldn't see me checking her out. She was gorgeous, I must say and when she let me in, I fell in love with the way the apartment was decorated. It smelled amazing too.

"I'm Beyoncé." I greeted with my hand out for her to shake. She kindly accepted it and smiled at me.

"And I'm Kelly. It's nice to meet you!"

Stupid of me to not do my research before moving eleven hours away from home, but this move was pretty much an in the moment type of thing. I had graduated college two months ago, and for two months I prayed for a job. Just a week ago, I received a call saying I landed the job of my dreams here in Atlanta. I wasted no time searching online for a nice, but cheap place to stay.

The apartment Kelly and I would be sharing is a two bedroom apartment with a porch and a balcony for only $565 a month. We would both split the rent and utilities in half. I instantly took the offer, not caring to find out who my roommate would be. Apartments this beautiful and cheap didn't come around often.

Thank God she's not some ugly, dirty bitch. She looked well made up and the place looked really clean. Hopefully it stays that way and she's not putting up a front because I'm here.

She gave me a tour of the place, even showing me her room which was nice and neat. I was very much surprised. Maybe she's not putting up a front. Maybe she is clean. I can't say the same for me though. I could be messy and lazy at times, but I won't tell her that.

"Did you pick up your key?" She asked me.

I shook my head, "Nope! I wanted to come in and see everything for myself before doing so. I'm about to pick it up and then I'll move all of my things in."

"Great. I'll help you whenever you come back."

"Cool. So how far is the leasing office from here? Is it walking distance?"

She nodded her head, "Girl, yes. It's not far at all. It's like a building away from here so if you keep walking, you'll see it."

As I made the short walk to the leasing office, I called my worried mother. She has been blowing my phone up for the past couple of hours after I specifically told her that I was driving in this crazy Birmingham and Atlanta traffic and couldn't talk to her and concentrate on the road at once.

"You made it?" She frantically asked soon as she picked up the call. I laughed and shook my head.

"Yes mama, I made it."

"Great. I'm so happy. Have you met your roommate?"

I nodded my head, "Yeah I did. She seems cool and the place is really clean. Hopefully we'll get along well."

"I hope so. Just don't let that mouth get in the way. You know how you are."

I rolled my eyes, "It's not me. People should stop trying me. But I'll be nice to her. I'm heading to the leasing office to pick up my keys and then I'll start to unpack."

"Okay baby. When is your first day of work?"

"Uh," I said trying to think, "Tuesday I believe. I have to be there at 7 in the morning for orientation. So I have the entire weekend to myself to get a feel of the city and just relax."

I heard my mother squeal on the other end and all I could do was shake my head. She was so silly. I made it to the leasing office and told my mother I would call her back. We ended our call and I made my way to the front desk to retrieve my keys. After making sure I was in the system and whatever, they finally gave me my keys. I walked the short distance back to my car and grabbed as many bags as I could.

With Kelly's help, we finished decorating my room in two hours. We both were worn the hell out afterwards.

"After all of that, I'm starving," She said with a chuckle, "Since it's still day out, maybe we can grab something to eat and I can show you around my city."

I nodded my head, "No problem. Let me freshen up and I'll be ready."

I took a well needed shower and changed into something comfortable, but cute. Leggings and a cute off the shoulder shirt with sandals. I let my hair down and put on little makeup. I was done getting dressed an hour later.

We hopped in Kelly's 2017 Nissan Maxima and waited a couple of minutes for the air to finally kick in.

"What you have a taste for?" She asked, finally pulling off.

"Girl I know nothing about Atlanta. You tell me."

She laughed, "Our Waffle House is bomb! And if you don't want that, we can always go to a chill restaurant."

I already had a taste for some waffles, so Waffle House it was. It wasn't many people so we were instantly seated. As usual, I ordered the All Star and Kelly settled for the Hashbrown Bowl.

"So tell me about you. What do you like to do?" She asked.

I sipped on my sweet tea before responding. "Well I'm Beyoncé and I'll be 22 in a month! I'm from Houston and I graduated from The University of Houston with a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education. I love kids so I feel like that's the best fit for me. Moving to Atlanta was such a late notice but there was no way I could pass up on the job offered to me."

Kelly nodded her head, "That's pretty cool. Well I'm Kelly and I graduated from Clark Atlanta with a Degree in Marketing. I'm from here in Atlanta. Been here all my life actually. I love it here and hopefully you will too. It's a busy city."

"I see! So what kind of person are you, personality wise?" I really had to get to know this girl. I can't be roommates with a psychopath. I need to know if I'm going to die in my sleep or not.

"I feel like I'm a very cool person," She said with confidence, "I'm always to myself. Either I'm working or with my boyfriend. I'm very neat as well. I'm always cooking or doing something like that."

I slowly nodded my head, "I'm impressed. And you have a boyfriend? Must be nice."

She laughed and playfully rolled her eyes. I could see her blushing before she could even talk about him. "Girl, he's amazing. We've been together for almost a year and he's so sweet to me. He really treats me like I'm the only girl in the world."

"That's cute. I hate niggas." I said bluntly, making her laugh. "No seriously," I said with a straight face, "Guys make me sick."

"You can't let one guy spoil it for you. There's some good ones out there."

I shrugged, "I guess." Our food came and as I ate, she continued to go on and on about her boyfriend. She was making me sick to my stomach the more she talked about him. I'll let her be happy though. I can't be miserable and bitter right now. I'm the one always running guys away, to be honest.

We finally finished eating and went on a tour of the city. The CNN building was probably the most exciting part to me, as well as the new football stadium. I was already in loved with the city of Atlanta and can't wait to start my new life here.
