this is a ship that ive,, never actually considered before? at all? which is kinda odd because it... makes sense, in a weird way

im not entirely sure how to feel about it yet, tbh. i can kinda see it, but kinda... not? when it comes to aku ships i can usually only see him with very soft, kind people, and kunikida does fit the bill but like,,, hes also an absolute mess of repressed anger and anxiety

im curious to see how itd work out, but it feels,,, rocky. kunikida isnt exactly the most,,,,,,, tender person,,? hes kind of loud and angry, and i feel like that alone would put aku on edge bc hes,, a wreck. this guy is so anxious and traumatized that he literally doesnt have any eyebrows

so i think itd be a bit tough. like, lets say aku magically joins the ada somehow -

kunikida would obviously not be,, thrilled. i mean, sure, hes (kinda) warmed up to dazai despite his past profession, but aku is,,, a bit different. hes more on edge, more bitter, like a ticking timebomb - almost like he could turn on them at any moment. i cant see kunikida being all buddy-buddy with him at first at all. and aku would probably be,,, kinda resigned? i think he'd understand where kunikida was coming from, and just. keep his distance from him. 

i think itd be especially heartbreaking if kunikida like, snapped at him or something, because aku would UNDERSTAND. hes used to people screaming at him, and not trusting him. hes so used to that violent, loud, angry attitude that he'd take one look at angry kunikida and go "ok." 

and that fucks me up so bad. he shouldnt be used to that kind of cruel treatment. :( (damn you, dazai, you absolute cunt) i didnt mean for this chapter to become a lovemail to akutagawa, but like,,, i love this man so much. please let him heal asagiri im gonna cry

back to the ship! so basically, i think itd be a verrrrry rocky start. i think kunikida would have to learn about akus past abuse and poverty to be able to sympathize with him. then maybe he'd psychoanalyze aku and recognize some behavior he didnt before, like how skittish and anxious he always is. and only THEN would he be a little bit nicer to him. and even then, itd take a while for aku to even see kunikida as an ally, let alone a friend or something more. i think he'd be curious about him, since hes dazais partner, but it might be closer to some twisted jealousy or nostalgia. 

so yeah! a rocky, rocky ship. i think its super interesting to think about, though, and IF they managed to overcome their differences and become closer, i think it could work. kunikida would have to become a bit more soft and sweet, and less angry - but if he managed that then he might be a genuinely good match for akutagawa.

i prefer aku with oda or chuuya, or even atsushi, but this ship is nice! i havent considered it before, and i might need some time before i completely warm up to it, but its interesting and kinda cute. honestly, the fact that its so rocky actually intrigues me a lot👀it has a lot of angst potential,, 

but yes!
