Madam Webb and I stood in front of room 107. This hallway was for the male dorm rooms, and every other door connected to the hallway was a dorm for a student to live in.
Wow. There's a lot of doors. That's a lot of students.
"Don't be too surprised about your roommate." Madam Webb said.
"Alright." I replied.
Come on, how bad could it be? I've already seen spider people (Arachnids) and the Corrupted thing. This shouldn't be any worse.
Madam Webb knocked on the door. The sound of shuffling was heard from behind the door as it opened to reveal my roommate.
Oh my god he has a shark head!
He was a large man, large for being the same age as me. And when I say large, I mean built and muscular. His lower half was a human but from his neck onwards he had the head of a great white shark.
He wore a simple white sleeved shirt with dark jeans, and around his thick, shark neck was a blue amulet which depicted the symbol of a wave.
Across one of his eyes was a nasty scar, giving him an even more threatening look. Not that he wasn't already, with the shark head and all.
"Madam Webb? What is it?" He asked, his voice deep and sharp.
"I finally have a roommate for you. This is Jack." Madam Webb stated, gesturing to me.
I awkwardly gave a short wave. Please don't hurt me...
He looked at me, before nodding. "It's nice to meet you." He said, extending his hand out.
I extended my own, shaking it with his. Huh, he's not as threatening as he looks. Maybe I shouldn't have judged him right away.
"This is Brutus Hai. I hope you two get along." Madam Webb spoke. "Now I have to go. Your first day starts tomorrow."
I nodded, watching as Madam Webb walked away. Turning back to Brutus, I walked inside the dorm, dragging my suitcase along with me.
"I hope you don't mind me being your roommate." I said.
"Not at all." Replied Brutus. "I was getting lonely."
"Don't you have friends?" I asked.
"I don't." Brutus replied sadly. I could almost see a rain cloud appear above his head.
Yikes, I stepped on a landline.
"What...if I was your first friend then?" I wondered.
"You'll be my friend?" Brutus asked, hopeful.
"Yeah. If you're fine with it, of course..." I awkwardly replied.
"I'd love to!" Brutus said happily, picking me up into a bone crushing bear hug.
"My...back...is...breaking..." I groaned.
"Sorry!" Brutus replied, dropping me onto the ground.
"It's fine." I groaned once more. Man, he was strong.
I stood back up to my feet, grabbing my suitcase.
"Which room is mine?" I asked him.
"That one is." Brutus stated, pointing towards one of the doors.
The dorm was made up of one living room and kitchen, two bedrooms, and one bathroom. When you entered the dorm, you would enter the living room and kitchen room.
From there on, there were three doors that connected to the room. One had a sign hanging from the doorknob saying, "Brutus' Room" while another had a sign stating "Bathroom". My room was the third door, which didn't have a sign.
"Thanks." I replied. I opened the door to my room, placing my suitcase onto my bed. Opening it, I took out everything that I had brought with me. All of my clothes, hygiene items, and more necessities were all stuffed into the suitcase earlier.
I spent the next hour unpacking my items from the suitcase, placing them in their respective places. I placed my hygiene items in the bathroom, my clothes in the closet in my room, and other necessities were scattered around.
It was then a nice waft flew past my nose. The smell has been carried by the breeze, drawing my attention. Walking out of the living room, I noticed that Brutus was cooking.
"You can cook?" I asked, surprised.
Brutus looked over. "Yeah, I can."
He was wearing a white apron with pink borders, which looked really funny on him. It contrasted his threatening look.
"Wow. That's impressive." I replied.
"You think so? I think it's lame." Brutus responded.
"Not at all. Cooking is an incredibly useful skill." I said, smiling.
Brutus smiled, but with his sharp teeth and his shark face, it looked extremely threatening, like he was about to steal your lunch money or something.
"I hope I'm not being rude, but what kind of monster are you?" I asked.
"I'm a Merman. To be more specific, a Great White Merman." Brutus informed me. "You?"
"I'm a...human..." I hesitantly replied. Please don't hate humans...
"A human?" Asked Brutus, surprised. "But humans don't go here!"
"I'm the first." I revealed.
"Wow. That's interesting." Brutus replied, before going back to cooking.
The dorm settled into a comfortable silence as Brutus continued to cook his food. It was quickly interrupted by the sound of knocking on the door.
"I'll get it." I told Brutus.
Walking over to the door, I looked through the peephole to see the two Arachnid twins. Opening the door, I greeted them.
"Hello!" I said.
"Hey Jack!" Happily responded Anna.
"Hey." John shortly replied.
"Come on in." I requested, opening the door for them.
They walked into the dorm as I shut the door, causing Brutus to turn around and look at them. The three stayed in a stare down for a couple seconds before Brutus suddenly screamed, hiding under the dining table.
Brutus?! What's going on?!
"Brutus?! Are you alright?!" I asked, running over to him.
"Spiders." He said, shivering. "Spiders..."
Ah. He's afraid of spiders. Another part of him that contrasted his scary appearance.
"Is he alright...?" Asked John.
"He's afraid of spiders." I replied.
"Should we leave?" Sadly asked Anna.
"I think it'll be fine, just give me a moment." I told them.
I looked back to Brutus. Poor dude was shivering like he was stuck outside in the cold for two hours.
"Hey, it's alright. Take deep breaths. They're nice spiders." I said, trying to make him feel better.
"Okay...okay..." Brutus replied, taking my advice with using deep breaths. Calming down, he stood back up to continue preparing the food.
"So, what made you drop by?" I asked.
"We wanted to see how you were doing." John stated.
I nodded. "I'm doing well, thanks."
"That's good." John replied. "We better head back. I'll see you tomorrow."
"See you two tomorrow." I said, waving to them as they left my dorm.
Turning back to Brutus, I asked, "Are you still alright?"
"Yeah." Brutus nodded. "I just don't like spiders. Nothing personal against your friends..." he explained.
"All of us have some fears." I said, remembering the moment that brought me here;
The Corrupted loomed over Anna, ready to strike.
I felt so weak. So useless. I could only watch as it had tried to attack Anna. I was lucky that Anna was part of the supernatural. Otherwise my life would have changed, but not for the better.
Brutus finished cooking dinner, placing two bowls onto the table and knocking me out of my reminiscing.
"You made some for me too?!" I asked, shocked.
"Yeah. You're my roommate." Brutus replied, as if it was common knowledge.
I smiled. "Thank you Brutus."
"No problem." He replied.
I smiled. I completely misjudged him.
Grabbing the food off my plate with a fork, I quickly ate the food that Brutus had made. It was so good!

I sat on my bed in my room. Dinner had ended and I finally had some alone time to do some System learning.
"How do I see my skills?" I asked Sally.
"They are listed in the [Profile] section." Sally informed me.
Clicking on [Profile], I read my new status.
[Profile]
Name: Jackson Walker
Race: Human
AP: 180
Charm: Level 1
Strength: Level 1
Wisdom: Level 1
Agility: Level 1
[Freerunner] Level 2 - A small urge in the back of your head helps guide you.
[Freerunner] sounds like a really good skill for being a Common.
It had leveled up to level 2, but there were no other changes with my [Profile]. I should try raising up those stat levels soon.
Clicking out of [Profile], I then moved onto the [Lottery] screen.
It revealed the wheel of fortune once more, allowing me to spin if I had enough AP. Which I do.
[Lottery]
1 Spin: [100 AP]
10 Spins: [1,000 AP]
Time to get one spin! Sally, spin the wheel!
"Alright Host." Sally responded.
The wheel of fortune quickly started spinning, and after a couple of moments it finally died down.
"Amazing! You got a legendary skill from the lottery! The [Hollow Wanderer]!" Cried out Sally in surprise.
Awesome! What does it do?
"It says that it sends someone to the Hollow so they can fight and gain experience in there." Sally informed.
"The Hollow?"
