Too Little Too Late

I put on a black leather jacket and leather gloves, a black shirt, black jeggings, black Converses, and black sunglasses.  To be truthful, I looked goth, but I looked like a very stylish and classy sort of goth.  I tied up my hair in a pony tail so I could see better. I even had time to put on some eyeliner. If I was going to have a bloody fight, I would do it in style.  I would do it like a boss.

I prepared most of my light weapons.  I couldn't have any extra weight weighing me down otherwise I'd be a sitting duck. I didn't know how the battle would turn out, but I knew I would never lose to the likes of him.

At 9:55, I was at the computer factory.  I was quite edgy and my fingers were twitching to sheath my katana.  I hid behind a gigantic steel pole and listened for any signs of Brian's "twin."  I was a bit early, so I decided to sit down and relax.  Did I have the guts to take matters into my own hands?  Was I stupid to not call for back up from the agency?  Images of me being brutally slaughtered were flooding into my mind.  Perhaps I should've said farewell to my parents.  Suddenly, I heard footsteps, and my ears perked up instantly.

"Dumb runt told me that kid was gonna be here," a guy sounding like Brian spat on the floor and groaned. He shuffled his feet and turned to leave.

"I am here," I called out and stepped out of the shadows.  The guy froze with his hands in his pockets and slowly turned around.  I opened my mouth in shock while studying his face.  He truly was a mirror image of Brian, only he had cold, heartless eyes, not like Brian's chocolate colored ones. He didn't have the same hairstyle though.  His hair was cut short with no bangs, which was a more practical style for fighting.  He looked very intimidating in his black outfit.  He was a few inches taller than me, just like Brian was.  My eyes trailed down his face to his sturdy arms to his hands.  How many people died by those calloused hands?  I was honestly stunned at how similar he looked to Brian, but he didn't look as surprised to see me.  I finally noticed that he was leering at me and his intense glares gave me the heebie jeebies.  I shuddered at the thought that my death would be by his hands.  If only I called for back up or told the agency of my plan, even Brian would've helped me.

Focus, you can do it.  I took a deep breath.  This was all on me.  I thought I could handle it at first, but I started to freak out a little.  My body was slightly shivering, and it wasn't from the cold.

"You done staring?" He asked, uninterested.  My cheeks flamed from embarrassment.  Heck, these two had the same cocky attitude. I would wipe the floor with him.

"W-Where's the file?" I broke the silence. I cursed my wavering voice.  It made me sound like an amateur who needed protection.

He looked at me surprised for a second, but then he smirked and looked me up and down as if I was an object. That was when I noticed he had a black back pack slung around his shoulders. That's what I call prepared.

"Tsk, tsk tsk.  I don't know why Brian would even dare to contact me."  He started circling around me.  "I'm hoping he knows you're going to challenge me." He tried to intimidate me, and it was actually working.  I kept my fear in check and furiously shook my head.  I would never show weakness or fear in front of this villain.

"Y'know, you two would make a cute couple."  He sneered at me and spat at the ground again.  My heart sped up at the word. "couple."

Focus, Serena!  This is no time to be thinking about that!

"What?! We are not a couple!  And yes, he knows what I'm doing!" I took a step forward and shook my finger at him as a warning.  He only looked more amused, which made me want to punch him.  How I longed to do so.

"Oh, you've got quite a temper, young lady. Or Serena, should I say," he spat out my name like it was toxic.

"How do you know my name?" I questioned suspiciously.  My body tensed up all of a sudden, and I had shivers up and down my spine.

"Your room.  Duh.  Why do you even think I took a picture of you?  I need to know the brat who's capable of rescuing my sad excuse of a brother from those henchmen," the guy mused.  So Brian was telling the truth.  Now, I could truly call that night at the buffet a date.  I smiled inwardly to myself, but then I remembered where I was.

" By the way, I honestly must congratulate you.  It was just geniust to hide underneath the cars," he added on.

My blood ran cold and it took all my strength not to visibly shake in front of him.  I would never show my weakness in front of this person.  Was he taunting me?  Because it was most certainly working, much to my disgust.

"I feel like being nice today. So I'll offer you a little proposition. I think it's a little unfair you're being thrust into this situation.  I will ask you once and only once: do you really want to go toe to toe with me?  Speak now, and I'll spare your miserable life." I could probably take him one verse one because he was far too cocky.  I bet he couldn't even use a gun.  He seemed like one of those pretty boys, all talk and no show.  He needed someone to kick that smirk off his face. Literally.

I lunged forward, feigning an attack, and stomped one foot on the ground. He defensively took a step backwards but immediately stood back in place after he realized what I was trying to prove.  Little chicken crap.  He growled ferociously as the corners of my lips curved up proudly.  If that was all it took to frighten him, this would be fun as hell.  However, I didn't know if he had men with him.  If I did win this fight, there was no guarantee that his hypothetical men would come to finish me.

"How do I know that you didn't bring back-up?" I asked him.

"You don't.  Another reason why you should leave so that I don't waste my time on a little girl like you.  I wonder which agency would be stupid enough to send such a wimp to fight me.  Did they run out of people to send or are you their top choice?"  He clicked his tongue to signify shame and crossed his arms.  He smirked at my fury-filled face and turned to leave the factory.  There was absolutely no way I was letting him leave here alive. He didn't think I was good enough just because I was a small girl.  Sexist jerk.  I followed him outside without him knowing, into the open area of a deserted lot.  Then, I charged while his back was facing me and I kicked his neck with all the strength I could muster.

"You bitch!"

He clasped onto the side of his neck, which was already starting to bruise (to my satisfaction).  I smirked at his expression.  I could practically see the steam rushing out of his ears.

"Let's dance, pretty boy." I knelt down, ready to strike.

He tossed his bag aside and lunged at me, his face irate.

I ran to the nearest wall and he was still chasing me at full speed, much to my amusement.  Agility was definitely something he lacked, because he looked like Dumbo trying to run with his long floppy ears.  I had to give him credit for at least trying.  I ran at full speed to the wall, and walked against it in midair for a brief second using the momentum from my run.  The guy stupidly ran into the wall and I nearly started laughing my ass off.  I pushed off the wall, did a flip, and landed on the ground.  Perfect 10.  He was still wondering what had happened and gave me a puzzled look, so I walked up to him and quickly kneed him in his groin.  He keeled over, just as I had suspected.  I pushed his shoulder, and gave him a swift yet powerful punch to his face.

"Where's that damn file?"  I growled to his face.  He was lying on his back, still clutching his "jewels." I straddled his stomach and brought out a katana that was hanging on my belt.  I knew it would come in handy.  I pressed it against his throat.

"Go to hell, damn bitch!" He sputtered out against my sword.  I placed his neck in a choke hold and brought his knife to his precious place.

"You better tell me before I make sure you can't father children.  Not that anyone normal would sleep with a guy like you," I sneered at his frightened face.  I think a part of me was lying, because this guy was actually handsome.  It's just that his cruelty overruled his good looks.

"Ugh.  You see that bag?  The one I brought?" He pointed to the other side of the lot. My head turned for a brief second before glaring at the guy's eyes.

"Of course I see it." I replied back condescendingly.  He merely stared back, unfazed by my words.

"It's in there.  Go check it yourself."  I slowly and hesitantly got up, but pointed the tip of my katana towards his neck.  As soon as I turned around, he swept his leg and tripped me. I dropped my katana and fell onto my back.

Damn, should've seen that one coming.  I groaned.  I was beginning to get a migraine from his annoying pranks.

I slowly got up.  His eyes were on me and I slowly followed him with my eyes too.  I picked up my katana carefully and put it back into my scabbard.  I took off my belt that had all my weapons and threw it to the side.  If I was going to beat him, I would beat him with my fists.

Then all of a sudden, he lunged at me and landed a flurry of kicks and punches.  I tried to block them, but he was too fast.  He round house kicked me in the face and I quickly fell onto my back in pain.  My lip was busted and my nose was gushing out blood.  I might've broken a rib or two. He knelt down and fisted his hands into my jacket.  He pulled me up roughly and sneered at me.

"Y'know, I thought you'd be stronger even if you're a girl with a scrawny body."  I punched him in the face.  He shrunk back, clutching his now bloody nose.  What a sexist brat!  I couldn't believe Brian was related to this piece of crap.

"You're the most annoying guy I've ever met.  I thought you'd be better.  After all, you do have a very cocky attitude."  He looked at me with angry eyes and I smirked. I stood up shakily and put up my fists. I ran at him with full speed and scissor kicked his ass.  He bent down forward, eyes opening wide in pain.  I towered above him.  Then he quickly grabbed my legs and tripped me once again.

"Are you goddamn serious?  Stop fighting like a little boy," I mocked him.

He charged toward me and tried to land a kick to my stomach, but I quickly grabbed his ankle and whirled him into the wall with strength I did not know I had possessed.  He fell with a loud and hard thud.  He was quiet, and still.  Too quiet and still to my liking.  Was he...dead?

Oh shit.  You're in for some deep crap now.

There was no way that crash into a brick wall could've killed him.  I sped walk over to his still body and knelt above him to check for a pulse.  My fingers touched the sides of his neck and thankfully I heard a steady beating.  I really should've been smart and left, or I should've made sure he was unconscious, because he punched me in the face with so much force that I was hurled into the air.  I landed on my back again and it hurt like a bitch.  Blood was flooding out of my nose and my head probably did have a migraine and/or a possible concussion.  Maybe even some brain damage.  I definitely was going to have arthritis issues in the future.  He picked me up, so that I was standing awkwardly and pressed down hard on all of my pressure points so that I was temporarily paralyzed. Then he just dropped me like a sack of potatoes.  How rude.

Come on! Move, you stupid body!  I looked to see if anything was twitching, but it was in vain.  I really was paralyzed and there was no way to unparalyze me unless I waited.  But time was something I did not have at the moment.

He slowly walked over to my forgotten katana, picked it up, and walked over to my limp body triumphantly.  Let me tell you that not being able to move sucks, especially when you're on the verge of being murdered.  He raised my katana to my neck as if he was aiming at a certain point, and took a few swipes in the air.  Finally, he raised his arms way over his head.  I knew that becoming a spy meant that an early death was a definite possibility, but I wish I could see my family and even Brian one more time.  I closed my eyes and awaited death.  I just hoped he was merciful and made it quick.

I come into this fight all proud, and now I'm all defenseless like a damsel.  Absolutely useless.  I'm going to die by my own sword.  How fitting.

I could hear the sword slice through the air with such strength and ferocity, but I didn't feel any pain.  I lifted my eyeslids open and saw him sneering at me.  All this time, he was only playing with me to watch me squirm.  He was trying to see if I would beg for my life.  What a bastard.  I had a reputation to uphold; if I were to die, I'd die proudly and gallantly.  I would never surrender to fear.  But as I saw each swing practically split the air, there was an unsettling feeling in my stomach that gradually grew.  Finally, he had a satisfied look on his face and turned to face me.

As I said, he raised it as if he was going to chop off my head, and I closed my eyes.  I heard a slice, but I wasn't feeling any pain.

I'm in heaven already and he didn't even kill me yet.

I must've blacked out for a moment because I couldn't remember anything.  I pried one eye open with all the strength I could muster.  My katana was on the floor, and so was Brian's twin.  My vision was clouded until I realized that there were two Brian's. Brian number one had his own sword and blocked Brian number two's sword, aka my katana.  What?  How were there two Brian's?

"What the fu-," I was cut off by the pain in my brain.  My brain was hurting just from looking at two Brian's.  I rubbed my temples furiously to rid the pain.

Hey, I'm not paralyzed anymore!

"Are you hurt?"  Brian #1 asked me.  I shook my head, even though I was clearly bleeding in more places than you could count and I was just recovering from Brian number two's paralysis.  Where the hell was I? All my memories came rushing into my mind when Brian #2 stood up.  I was at the abandoned factory fighting Brian's twin and he was about to kill me and then Brian came in and rescued me.

Ow.  This cannot be good for my head.  Anybody have an aspirin here?

Brian's attention once again returned to his brother.  I must've fainted from blood loss because I didn't remember anything at all except for a few grunts, groans, and me being carried in Brian's arms.
