You couldn't think straight, all you could really focus on was the rings of distant yelling surrounding you. Your breaths were heavy and labored. Your vision was blurry.

You felt yourself being picked up and moved quickly, you immediately felt a surge of pain in your stomach and you screamed out. Your mind coming back to reality.

You blinked one, twice, three times till a face came into view.

"Oi, (y/n) stay with me alright!"

Who was that again?

A...hat?

A straw hat...

'Lu...'

"L-Luffy?" You asked softly, you watched him look back down at you.

"Yeah it's me, everything is going to be ok now alright, Chopper will get you fixed, I promise!" He said. He jumped over something, the quick movement pulled at your wound.

You grimaced in pain.

"S-sorry, I'll get you to the Sunny soon..." he said again. His voice slightly shaking.

"Luffy...wait..." you said softly and he looked down at you.

"Just wait please, we can talk when you are all better, I promise." He said quickly. You could tell a lot was going through his mind. He didn't want to think of the worst to come, not yet at least.

"Please wait!" You managed to yell out and he stopped. Looking down at you in his arms.

"(Y/n)..." he said softly, you looked into his eyes and saw they was starting to tear up. "Please don't say what I think your going to say...please, I can't deal with it...not again." He said and you felt tears build up in your eyes too. You slowly raised your hand and cupped his cheek.

"I'm sorry...Luffy." You said and he closed his eyes as he sniffled loudly. He soon collapsed to the ground holding onto you tightly.

"Please...I can't let this happen again, I promised myself I won't let it happen...I told myself that I'd protect you guys at all cost! No matter what!" He shouted as he soon buried his face into the crook of your neck.

"Why...why did this happen..." he muttered, you felt his tears and snot on you but you didn't care.

"Luffy..." you said quietly.

He sniffled.

"...please look at me." You whispered.

"I can't...I-"

"Please...I want to see your face." You said and you felt his body shake. But soon he lifted his face and looked at you.

You smiled softly and laughed to yourself, you raised your hand and cupped his cheek again. "C-can I ask something selfish of you, Sencho?" You asked and he sniffled.

"What..." he asked, leaning into your hand.

"Smile for me...please...I want your smile to be the last thing I see...I don't want to see you sad..." you breathed out.

His face scrunched up painfully, tears falling down his cheeks. He looked down at the wound in your stomach, blood soaking up the shirt you was wearing.

"I-I..." he muttered but he couldn't finish his sentence. He sniffled again as he closed his eyes.

"...please...Luffy." You asked and he gripped you tightly. His breathing labored. He soon breathed in deeply looking back to you as he forced a smile to his face.

"See? There I'm smiling, now don't die on me ok...please live...I can't lose you...I can't lose anyone else..." he said and you smiled again.

"There's the smile I love so much...haha I love to see you smile...I love seeing you happy...I-I don't want you to be sad when I go ok? Please keep living on...go be the Pirate King...fulfill your dream...do it for me...ok?" You said and he looked into your eyes.

"What about your dream? You haven't fulfilled yours yet!" He yelled and you still smiled up at him, creasing his cheek with your thumb.

"I already have...I'm looking at it right now." You said and he felt his smile beginning to crack.

"I-I'm your dream?..."

"You always have been..."

"..."

"I love you Luffy..."

"...I love you too..."

Your smile was still there, even as your eye sight started to fade.

You still saw it, the smile you fell in love with all those years ago when you first met him.

He still watched you, even as your eyes closed and your hand fell from his face to your side. He clenched his teeth, as he pulled your body close to him.

His smile broke as he soon let out a loud wail of pure despair.
