3rd POV

Vox Machina are now out of the city and heading towards the road leading towards Whitestone. Percy and Vex were on the front of the cart while the rest are at the back. They both didn't say anything while Vex was just staring at him until Percy break the silent.

Percy: (Adjust his glasses.) Please stop that. I'm trying to concentrate.

Vex: Oh, is that what you're doing? I thought you were practicing your resting bitch face.

Percy: Excuse me, my bitch face?

Vex: You're heading home. Figured you'd look happier.

Percy: This isn't a homecoming. This is a suicide mission to topple the necromantic murderers of my family.....And for the record, I have a magnificent bitch fave.

Vex: (Chuckles.) Do you now?

Percy: (Softly smiles.) Yes, I do. Lots of practice.

YN POV

It hasn't been long since we left and head to Whitestone while Pike needed connect back to her Everlight again. One way or another, we still have to find a way to stand a chance against the Briarwoods and possibly thier followers. We're far enough that I can see the whole city we left while Scanlan is still trying to translate the what the book says.

Keyleth: Any luck translating?

Scanlan: Uh, totally. Uh, some.

Scanlan: (Admitting.) Okay yeah, most of it's impossible. But I mean, look at this.

Scanlan shows her the book and I decided to check it out too since I'm curious. Not to mentioned that what's so important for the Briarwood to risk taking the book.

Scanlan: This is some messed up shit. I mean, all I can make out is one word of Delilah's craptastic scribble. Something called...a "zippertwat."

YN: (Roll his eyes.) Seriously?

Scanlan: Hey at least I'm trying, I don't see you translating this!

Keyleth: Uh, okay yeah actually, I think its a ziggurat.

Scanlan: (Sigh of relief.) Oh thank god. 'Cause what I was picturing was like...whoa.

YN: Wait, Keyleth, you know something about this?

Keyleth: Yeah, they spent hours teaching me stuff like this for my Aramenté. Ziggurats were ancient structures used for contacting gods.

YN: Gods?

Keyleth: Yeah.

Scanlan: Huh.

Keyleth: Wish I could help more, but I fell asleep a lot in ancient abyssal class.

YN: For that, I'm not arguing, if you gotta sleep, you gotta sleep. So long there isn't anyone trying to kill you.

Keyleth: (Chuckles.) Yeah.

Scanlan: Hmm. Then we're hopelessly fucked.

Keyleth: We definitely are. (Sigh.)

They both lean back depressed, so I decided to take a look at the book for a bit while I overheard that Grog missed Pike and Vax tries to comfort him. Just as I flip the pages, one got me interest to see the structure kinda looks similar.

YN: Keyleth, you said these ancient structures used for contacting gods?

Keyleth: Yeah, why?

YN: I think they'll need blood sacrifice to do that.

Scanlan: What do you mean?

YN: I've seen ancient structures similar to these on the books back in my world. Something about honoring gods or trading a blood sacrifice in exchange for their fortune.

Scanlan: Wait, how much blood sacrifice are we talking about?

YN: I...don't know. Those were ancient times.

I hand the book back to Scanlan who accept it.

Scanlan: Huh, well at least we know how. Only questions is which god?

YN: Either way, we have plenty of time to think about that. Its a long road to Whitestone, from what Percy said.

Scanlan nod before looking at the book while I sat next to Keyleth.

Keyleth: So, contacting gods, fighting dark ghost, and fighting against dark magic stuff. Crazy right?

YN: More or less, not all witchers face dark magic stuff all day. Well, not the ones I know of, since there are a few of us.

Keyleth: There's only a few of your kind?

YN: Yeah, but I'm sure there'll be more in the next generation of witchers. (Sigh.) Sucks that I won't be there to see it.

Keyleth: Oh, I'm sure they fight monsters without you.

YN: Yeah, I trust my friends. Well, they're more like brothers to me, since we got nothing but each other. They're probably teaching the next generation everything that our mentor Vesemir taught us.

Keyleth: (Smiles.) Must be nice to know that they'll be okay.

YN: Yeah, but we should worry about each other. Maybe you should get some rest, its a long road.

Keyleth: (Yawns.) Yeah...

Keyleth leans on my shoulder before she fell asleep. I take off my cloak and place it over Keyleth to keep her warm from the cold. I couldn't help but to stay awake, for some reason I got this feeling that something may happened.

Time skip, 3rd POV

The forest started to get foggy and Keyleth woke up from sleeping on YN shoulder. Scanlan still reading the book, but he manage to find something out of it.

Scanlan: The Whispered One?

They continue to the forest but the trees begin to be more like dead trees. Percy started to feel tired but tries to stay awake.

Keyleth: Percy, you need a break.

Percy: (Sigh.) Absolutely not. We need to keep moving. The Briarwoods are probably back in Whitestone by now.

YN: (Whispers to Vex.) We can always knock him down with a rock so he can rest.

Vex: (Chuckles and whispers.) That's a terrible idea.-

Suddenly she spotted something deep in the woods.

Vex: Percy, stop.

Percy: I'm not that tired.

Vex: No, I mean stop the damn cart. Something's tracking us.

Percy stops the cart before they hear something and they grab their weapons.

Scanlan: (Holds the book tight.) Uh, what was that?

YN: Nothing good.

Grog, Vax and YN gets off the cart and takes a look around. Soon they hear something close and she a shadow figure of a wolf through the fog and it whimpers.

Keyleth: Aw, poor little puppers.

Keyleth got off the cart before checking the dog.

Keyleth: (Softly smiles.) Are you hurt, little guy?

YN stops her from getting close and sniffs.

YN: Something doesn't smell right.

Grog: (Sniff his armpit.) Uh...that wasn't me.

Suddenly YN medallion started to vibrate as the wolf approaches them. Once its out of the fog, it revealed to be a living dead as it drooling blood our of its mouth.

This made Keyleth back up while the there of them gets ready to kill it. But soon more of them came and growls at Vox machina.

Grog: What the fuck are those?

YN: Living dead wolves, made by necromance magic.

Percy: A gift from Lady Briarwood.

The horses neighs out of fear as the dead wolves growls until on of them quickly snatch Scanlan with it long tongue before runs away with him.

Vex: Scanlan!

Percy: Hyah!

Vex tries to shoot an arrow at it before they pursue the zombie wolf. Soon they were out of the woods.

Keyleth: Scanlan, hang on!

Vex and YN tries to shoot the wolf but misses.

Vex: Come on, Percy! Faster! Hyah!

Percy: This thing was not built for speed. And did you just "Hyah" me!?

Vex shoots another arrow and it hit the wolf, but the wolf didn't even flinch.

Vex: That's just not fair.

YN: What'd you expect? It's a zombie, it can't feel shit.

Vex: You're Dark Wolf, can't you just tell them to stop?

YN: What makes you think I can do that!?

Vex: Uh Dark "Wolf"? Obviously!

Suddenly more of them came from behind.

Grog: (Grin.) I'll take the big one!

Vax: (Grin.) I'll take the other big one!

Soon the zombie wolves got on and tackles them.

Vax: Sit!

Vax then stabs its neck but no avail as it pushes him to the edge of the cart and tries to bite his face until YN stabs its neck before pulling it away from Vax.

YN: Down bitch!

YN fell on his back but puts the wolf on a choke hold. Suddenly the wolf manage to break free and bite off his wrist.

YN: Argh!

Keyleth: YN!

YN rips its jaw off with his knife to break free from its bite before Vax kicks it away. The wolf retaliates and both Vax and YN get ready until Keyleth steps up and showing her glowing eyes and her fangs.

Keyleth: Tiger roar!

The zombie wolf whimpers and step back until Grog punches it off the cart after killing his.

Grog: That's for Pike! And me, and maybe Scanlan 'cause he probably won't survive!

YN: Guess I owe you one Vax.

Vax: Let's just call it even.

Vex then grabs a enchanted arrow and ain't at the zombie wolf next to the one that has Scanlan.

Vex: This better be worth it.

Vex shoots at it and the arrow exploded the zombie wolf which made her satisfied.

Vex: Thanks Gilmore.

But her satisfaction was dropped as they all see the cliff ahead.

Keyleth: Um, are they going over the cliff?

Vax: They're not the only ones!

Percy: Its got Scanlan. We have no choice!

Vex: I am not dying to save that gnome. Get me closer!

The wolf then tries to eat Scanlan but he stop it by jamming its jaw with the book.

Scanlan: Shoot for its head! Neck! Dick! Come on, Vex! No one breaks balls better than you!

Vex: (Smirk.) He's not wrong.

Vex shoots a arrow tied with rope over them.

Scanlan: You missed!?

The wolf then jumps off the cliff while Scanlan screamed.

Vex: Let go of the book, dumbass!

Scanlan does what she said and immediately grabs on the rope. Percy stops the cart but it wasn't enough.

Vex: (Grabs Percy.) Off the cart!

YN: Anchors away!

Grog grabs Vax while YN holds Keyleth and they all jump off before the cart and the horses fell off the cliff. (RIP the horses.) They roll after they landed safely away from the cart while Keyleth was on top of YN and both of them blush before she got off of him.

YN: U-uh, you okay?

Keyleth: N-no I'm fine. You?

YN: Just a flesh wound on my wrist.

Vex was still holding on the rope and Percy helps her, but soon they notice the rope was cut.

Vex: (Gasp.) No...

Vax angrily punches the ground while Keyleth gasp.

Keyleth: Scanlan...

Vax: He didn't make it.

Just when they mourn Scanlan death, they suddenly hear someone singing.

Scanlan: 🎶 Rise, mighty Scanlan Rise!~🎶

This made them happy to see Scanlan survived.

YN: (Smirk.) That little bastard.

Scanlan: (Laugh.) Yeah, when I die, it'll be the way the gods intended choked to death by a disgruntled pimp.

Vax: (Chuckles.) Careful what you wish for.

They both fist bump as they both smirk. But Vex was depress.

Vex: We lost everything.

Scanlan: Well, I mean at least we still have our holy water.

Suddenly the supplies that was on the edge of the cliff was about to fall.

Percy: No, no, no, no!

They try to catch it before it fall but it was too late. YN wasted no time to grab his chain before jumping off the cliff and reach for the bag as Grog grab the chain for YN. Unfortunately he only manage to grab one thing before it was out of his reach.

YN: Dammit! Guys pull me up.

Grog: I coouuuuld buuuut....what will you give me in exchange?

Everyone: Grog!

Grog: (Pouts.) Okay fine.

Grog then pulls him up and YN got back up safely. He then shows them that he only got the salt before the bag was out of reach.

YN: This is all we got now.

Percy: (Disappointed.) Really, a salt?

YN: You're the smart one, you should know how useful it is.

Vex: Yeah, useful for cooking.

Grog: Well, I am hungry.

YN puts the bag away as they see the zombie wolf "alive" as it rips itself in half since it was stuck on a spike. It then grabbed the book before looking at Vox machina. Vex was about to shoot but YN lower her bow as she looks at him confused.

YN: save your arrows. Even if you have a clear shot, it wouldn't do anything to it.

She lower her bow admitting that he's right before the wolf runs off as Percy was very disappointed.

Percy: She got what she wanted....again...
