YN POV

Keyleth and I join the rest of our group at the hall and we see no guards here.

Keyleth: What's happening?

Percy: Where have the guards gone?

Just then, captain Jarett and two remaining of his men get inside and lock the door.

Jarett: What did you do!?

We all look at Scanlan.

Scanlan: Don't look at me. All I did was make a hoagie.

YN: Okay, stop for a minute. What just happened Jarett?

The three of them approaches us.

Jarett: Five of my men are dead. If you didn't kill them, who did?

Suddenly the lights went out and everything went dark while Scanlan holds the book tight.

Scanlan: Uh....

My medallion begins to vibrate and we all look around. I'm not sure for everyone but I can see through the dark well. I notice Vax look up and I did the same which got me surprise.

Vax: Chancing a guess it was them.

YN:....Fuck.

The ghosts screeches and grabs two of Jarett's men and drags them to the walls n ceiling as it drains their blood. The third one grabbed Scanlan.

Keyleth: Scanlan!

Vex: They want the book!

Once the ghost were done, the book is right between us and them but Vex quickly grabs it and draw them away.

Vex: Keyleth, heads up!

She threw it at her and Keyleth turns into a jackalope? Aw so cute- focus!....before a ghost got Vex and black blood started to come out of her eyes and mouth.

    Keyleth caught the book with her mouth and runs off. As soon as she ran pass me, I cast a fire spell at the ghost and it screeches louder before it runs off. Once it was gone, another tries to drain Scanlan blood as Vax tries to save him.

Vax: Scanlan!

He grabs a knife and tries to slash it but it did nothing but went through like it was nothing.

Vax: Damn it!

YN: Vax, move!

Vax move as Grog grabs Scanlan and I immersion cast another fire spell before it runs away.

Pike: Fall back!

YN: Go, I got your back!

They all ran toward the room that has light while I try to hold them off, but the ghost are too fast.

Percy: YN!

I wasted no time and run before I slide towards the room, right when Grog shuts the door.

3rd POV

Grog puts Scanlan who's has black blood on the table while they all catch our breath.

Scanlan: (Coughing black blood.) Aw, that sucked.

YN: Scanlan, nows not the time for your horny shit!

Vex: We need a way to fight them.

Vax: What about YN fire magic?

YN: They're too fast, hell there were four of them.

Jarett: No use in you being unarmed anymore.

YN: Vax, catch!

YN tosses two of his knives to him while Jarett tosses a crossbow at Vex.

Vax: Thanks.

YN: I want that back after this shit.

Vex: A trigger? Ew.

YN: You got a better idea?

Scanlan: I could really use my lute about now.

Jarett: I thought you said it wasn't a weapon.

Scanlan: (Scoff.) Obvious lie.

Vax: Not that any of these will do fuck at all.

YN: They're scared of the fire or light. We just have to stay in this room until sunrise-

Just then, they hear Keyleth drops the book and gasp which got their attention. Black blood started to appear on her face.

She was drag up to the wall as the lights faded.

YN: Keyleth!

YN tries to get her down but was then grab to his chest as a ghost appear through the wall.

Having no choice, he blast another fire to its face without burning Keyleth. The ghost let them go and they cough black blood. Percy was about to help them but then was grabbed by another ghost.

    One of the ghost was about to grab the book then Grog caught it and tries to hit it with a chair but it did nothing.

Grog: Why can't I hit you!?

Another ghost grabbed him from behind and lifts him up.

Pike: Hang on, buddy!

Pike hold his leg and the table to save him but one was closer to her.

Pike: Ugh! You creepy fuck!

Pike spits black blood on its face and they drop them as Grog breaks the table by his fall.

Pike: (Coughs black blood.) Can't see shit!

Suddenly Jarett light up a torch and swing it towards the ghost as they screeches.

Pike: Oh! The light!

Scanlan: Yeah, be great time to make some more.

Pike tries to use the Everlight but failed.

Pike: (Grunt.) I can't.

Vax: Pike?

Pike: I said I can't!

YN gets back up and cast a fire spell at the ghosts but was then grab from behind. Causing him to cough more black blood. Worst comes to worst, Jarett torch faded and he tries to defend with his sword.

    They still try to resist but the ghosts have the upper hand while Keyleth hides under the table in fear.

Soon she sees YN was pin down by the ghost before he notice her.

YN: (Cough black blood.) Keyleth, we need you! (Coughs again.) Prove yourself...! I believe in you...! (Coughs.)

All there was is screeches of the ghost until suddenly a bright light appear in the house.

The light was created by Keyleth with her magic to create an orb of light.

She stands up and yells as the light got brighter.

The ghosts screeches and begin to burn as they try to get away from the light. Suddenly Vex shot an arrow to one of its head, catching everyone surprise that they're now vulnerable.

Vex: NOW!

They grab the ghost and begin killing it couple of time. Jarett pins one to the door while Vex stabs it, Grog grabs a piece of candle ceiling light and start bashing the ghost face after Vax stab it multiple times.

Percy grabbed a ghost and threw it in the closet before stomping its head with his foot.

YN picks up a large brick before pinning one down and start bashing its head. Everyone was screaming while killing the ghosts until Keyleth light was gone, but the ghosts faded. Everybody catches their breath while helping each other up before Jarett speaks up.

Jarett: Where did those foul things come from?

Keyleth: We told you. The Briarwoods.

YN: They're using dark magic to create those things.

Percy: And They'll no doubt send more. We can't stay.

Jarett turns around facing them.

Percy: Don't make us fight you two.

Jarett: ....You intend to stop those that did this to my men?

Percy: (Serious.) You have my word.

Jarett: Then go.

Jarett sheathe his sword before opening the door, letting them all leave.

Jarett: Give them hell...and wish me luck trying to explain all this.

Time skip to dawn

After everyone clean off the black blood. Percy was carrying a baggage and was about to leave but then he was stop by a familiar voice.

Vex: No goodbye?

Percy respond without looking at them.

Percy: I'm going to Whitestone.

Keyleth: And so are we. If we beat Silas, his charm on Uriel will fade.

Scanlan: (Smirk.) And we can clear our names. Honestly, I wouldn't last a day in orison with this face. Look at me, I'm a snack.

YN: You saw how strong they were, no telling how the outcome will be if you're on your own. Besides, you'll need a monster hunter who hates vampires.

Vex: We're all with you, but...

Vex approaches Percy before pointing his chest.

Vex: No more secrets, all right?

Percy: (Softly smiles.) Understood. Thank you...all of you.

They exit the building and see that Trinket is alive which made Vex relief to see him okay.

Vex: (Smiles.) Trinket. Hi, buddy.

Trinket: Sad growl.

Vex: Oh, I know darling. But you'll be safe here at the keep. (Hugs him.) We'll be back soon.

Scanlan: (Scoffs.) Told you guys this book was a big deal, not that anyone listen to me.

YN: Its a necromancer spell book.

Scanlan: Obviously- wait, you knew!? Why the fuck didn't you say so!?

YN: Uh, dead people and animals pictures on the book as well as skulls.

Scanlan: I'm already hating you.

Just then, Jarett was standing in front of Scanlan.

Scanlan: Eh, what do you want now.

Jarett: (Gives his lute back.) Careful where you aim that thing.

Scanlan: (Grabs it.) Huh. (Smirk.) See what I mean? (Whispers.) A snack.

Percy sees everyone's ready to leave with him.

Percy: (Smiles.) Very well. To whitestone.

Scanlan: We should probably get some supplies, huh?

Vax: I can make a run to Gilmore's.

Vex: Not without me to negotiate.

YN: I'll tag along.

Pike: I'm not going.

This made everyone look back and gasp from surprise.

Grog: Wh...what do you mean?

Pike: (Holds her necklace.) I can't hear the Everlight. Its like you said, Grog. I think I need to tell her sorry. Properly, at a temple.

Grog approach her and kneels down to her level.

Grog: Well, I'll come with you. (Smiles.) Like old times, just you and me.

Pike: I have to do this alone, buddy. And they need you.

Grog: (Sadden.) Oh, but...what if I need you?

Pike and Grog cries softly before they hug.

Pike: You can always talk to me. Even if I'm not around, you'll feel me there with you.

They both let go of their hug before she approaches to Keyleth.

Pike: You're their light now.

Keyleth nods before Grog joins the group.

YN: Best of luck Pike.

Pike: Thank you.

YN joins the others while Grog and Scanlan looks back at Pike before she heads to her own journey.

Time skip, Vax POV

Vex and I were on the run from the guards who are chasing us while YN draws most of them away before rendezvous with us at the Gilmore's. Once we're there, Keyleth in her squirrel form sneaks through the basement and opens it from the inside for us to enter. We stay hidden while the guards are nearby.

Guard: Come on. They can't be fair.

Soon the guards leave and we sneak further inside to Gilmore's shop but Keyleth seem excited to sneak in.

Keyleth: Oh, man, being bad is so exciting.

YN: Don't get too exited, anything could happen in this kind of situation.

Suddenly we were ambushed by violet magic and it cages us as the shop lights up.

Vex: You and your big mouth.

YN: Well you try making conversation with you once in a while.

???: (Clears throat.)

We then see Gilmore up stairs who caught us.

Gilmore: (Winces.) Ooh, crime doesn't pay, (Smirk.) But it is entertaining.

YN: ...Fuck.

Gilmore snap his finger, making the magic cage disappear as we fell on each other.

Keyleth: (Gets up with sweat drop.) Uh, we weren't breaking in or anything. Just, you know, sort of on the run.

Vax: A quick stop at your store on our way out of town.

Gilmore: While it was closed. (Raise his eyebrow.) I assume you were going to leave an IOU?

Vax: Uh...

YN: Okay, I'll cut it short. Dangerous man and a crazy bitch with crazy bitch magic.

Gilmore: Oh and who is this man?

YN: YN, and we need some supplies for the mission.

Gilmore: Well of course, do let yourself look what you need.

Vex: Of course, darling. You know us.

Gilmore: (Chuckles.) All too well.

Vex and Keyleth gather some enchanted arrows while YN and I look at the daggers.

Vax: Dagger, dagger, dagger...wooden stake. (Picks it up.) Perfect.

YN grabs a silver knife.

YN: I'll take this one.

Vax: Why silver?

YN: Some vampires can be killed with it.

Vax: Wanna trade?

YN: Hell no!

Vax: Aw man.

3rd POV

Vex then comes back with handful of enchanted arrows.

Vex: I'll take these enchanted arrows.

Keyleth: And as much as garlic as you can spare.

Gilmore: Ugh, I don't want to know. (Smile.) No that's a lie. I absolutely want to know. What else is this all about?

Keyleth: We kinda pissed off a vampire.

Vex: And our healer's out of commission.

Gilmore: Mm. Then may I suggest the addition of something special? (Summons a small bottle.) Holy water.

One of the only things truly known to stop a vampire. Well, that and direct sunlight.

Vex: (Zips by.) We will take all the holy water you've got.

Gilmore: You're looking at it.

Vex: (Sigh.) I'll need to grab a few more things, then.

Vex leave while Keyleth joins her before a ghost appear with a cup of tea for Gilmore.

Gilmore: Thank you, Rodrigo. You're a gem. One must have a bit of company while handsome half-elves are off thwarting evil.

YN: (Confused.) Half-elves?

Vax: Its a long story.

YN: (To Gilmore.) By the way, do you have salt?

Gilmore: Well, I do have a bottle of it.

YN: I'll take it.

Vax: Why the hell do we need salt?

YN: You'll see soon enough.

While Vax and Gilmore having a chat, Keyleth fell while her fingers are stuck together with a finger trap.

Gilmore: Need some help, love?

Keyleth: (Nervouse chuckles.) I'm fine, thanks. I....its okay. I'll just stay this way. For forever.

Gilmore: Press the tooth of each snake at the same time, dear.

YN: Here, let me help.

YN helps Keyleth removing the finger trap which made her surprise.

Keyleth: Ah, cool. Thanks YN.

YN: Anytime....(Clears his throat.) Uh...I haven't seen these things for a while.

Keyleth: Your world have these kind of things?

YN: Uh. (Rubs his neck.) Something like that. But rarely, yeah.....so you want to add some of those perfumes to buy?

Gilmore then notice how close they both are and smirks.

Gilmore: Oh. Speaking of secrets...
