"I didn't know that your wife was a fan of all this glitz and glam." Chris said after he saw what Clair was pointing at. It was a picture of some businessman who had donated a huge amount for cancer patients.

"Do you see the man at the back?" Clair asked, ignoring his attempt at humour.

"So that's your type? Tall arrogant ones?" Chris furrowed his brows.

"Shut up, Chris. Let her talk." Misha finally snapped.

"Fine." He mumbled.

"Thank you! As I was saying, this is the biological father of my child and the man you've been looking for." Clair waited for this information to sink in.

Misha and Chris shared a look and hurriedly grabbed the newspaper to look at the man who was giving them sleepless nights.

The man was tall with broad shoulders. He had short hair and a sharp jawline. Even in the black and white picture he looked charming. He was holding a boy's hand and a woman was standing next to him.

"Who are they?" Misha voiced out.
"Probably his family, he told me about having a kid and a fiancée." Clair answered, still looking at the picture.

"Perfect, exactly what I wanted. We can use them against him." Chris smirked.

"What do you mean by use?" Clair asked, she didn't really like the sound of it.

"Exactly what I said." There was a small cruel smile gracing his lips.

"But that's wrong. His family is innocent." She argued.

Chris looked at her like she was an idiot. He directed his gaze at Misha who understood what he wanted to say.

"Babe, he is the detective here. He knows what's the best right now. He knows what should be our next step." Misha placed a hand on her shoulder to soothe her a bit.

Clair was about to say something when they heard the doorbell rang.

"That must be my wife." Chris declared and walked towards the door.

He came back moments later with Jessica in tow.

"Hey guys." She hugged them both.
"You good?" Misha asked as a form of greeting while Clair just smiled.

"Amazing, actually. Chris, I dropped our baby at my parent's place, you can go pick him up tonight. Anyway, I'm here to take Clair at a girls' day out. God knows, I need it real bad." Jessica sighed.

Clair and Misha looked at her quizzically while Chris smiled at the thought of his wife having a much needed girls' time.

"What do you mean?" Misha raised an eyebrow, not wanting Clair to go out while Jordan was close by.

"I meant what I said, lover boy. Me and Clair are going out for a while, right Clair?"

"Aah well." Clair didn't really know what to say. She wasn't in the favour of going out but at the same time, she didn't want to say no to Jessica.

"Bu-" Misha tried to say something but was interrupted.
"It's alright, Misha. Let them go. Some guys' only time will do us good too." Chris said, finalising the sudden plans.

Misha wanted to complain but a simple look from Clair stopped him.

"Okay, let me grab my bag and then we'll go." Clair walked inside her room to get her things while Jessica did a little happy dance.

The women were gone in a matter of moments leaving the men on their own.

"Wanna watch a movie?" Misha asked, walking towards the DVD player without waiting for an answer.

Chris made himself comfortable on the couch while Misha went to grab some drinks and snacks.

"You know his real name is not Jordan." Chris spoke casually halfway through the movie.

"What?" Misha asked, forgetting the movie completely.

"Do I really have to repeat myself?" Chris looked at him weirdly.

"How did you find out?" He was getting annoyed by Chris, he was acting strangely.

"That's not important. You just had to know that Jordan is not the real name." Chris once again dismissed him.

"What's his name then?"

"That my friend will be revealed pretty soon." With that Chris resumed watching the forgotten movie.

"Jessica can we please get something to eat now?" Clair asked, her hands full of shopping bags.

"Ah okay. We'll eat and then start again."

Both of them walked towards the nearby restaurant and sat by the window. The view was pretty scenic here, Clair liked it.
Jessica called for the waiter and they placed their orders.

"I never knew you were such a shopaholic." Clair started.

"Well, I only shop like this when I'm stressed or angry. It's like therapy, a therapy that's expensive on my husband's wallet." Jess said seriously, glancing at her wrist watch.

"What got you stressed today?"

They were interrupted by the waiter placing their orders.

"I think Chris is cheating on me." Jessica spoke, once the waiter walked away.

Clair's eyes widened at this. She knew that Chris would never do something like that. The guy loved her to the moon and back.

"What made you think of that?" She asked.

"H-he hide things from me Clair. He goes somewhere in the middle of the night. He doesn't even takes his calls in front of me." Jessica kept a close eye on Clair.

Clair had a fair idea about his nightly absence and discreet calls but it wasn't her place to tell this to Jessica. There must be a reason that made Chris hide the truth from her.

"Jessica, I don't think you should jump to conclusions easily. Talk to him. I'm sure this is nothing but a misunderstanding. As far as I know him, he really loves you and will never cheat on you."

"I don't know, Clair. I'm just so confused. I can't function properly because of this." Jessica felt someone staring at her but brushed it off.

"Nothing I'll say will help you right now, Jess. You need to talk to him." Clair urged her once more.

"Fine. Lets just eat. The food is getting cold."

*********

Clair knew she was going to be scolded as soon as she got home. It was a little over eight but Misha must've been freaking out. It was a miracle that he hadn't sent a search party for her by now. Ever since they came here, Misha had been over protective of Clair, remembering what had happened here a few years ago.

"Come on, Jess, we need to be quick."
"Calm down girl. He's not gonna kill you." Jessica chuckled at her own joke though Clair didn't find it a least bit amusing.

"I know a shortcut so don't worry, we'll be home in a minute." With that, Jessica took a right turn and Clair followed.

Clair cursed when she saw the dead end. She kicked the wall and turned around.
"Was this your shortcut?" She tried to remain calm.
"Sorry." Jessica shrugged and started walking in the opposite direction.
Clair cursed once more and took a few steps only for an arm to wrap around her waist. She shrieked and kicked around but it was of no use. The man pressed a cloth to her mouth and Clair tried her hardest to not breath the contents in.

The last thing she saw before blacking out was Jessica in a similar position to her.
