"... I'm done." Shirabu quickly snatches up his own workbook, stomping off. Semi is quick to chase after him as Tendo cackles, the librarian shushing him.
Kageyama looks between his two remaining upperclassmen, tilting his head.
"I don't get it?"
"Oh Yamayama-kun, I hope you stay this adorable forever."
In the next couple of weeks that follow, it becomes increasingly obvious that Kageyama can only set for Tendo. Apparently the red-head's constant badgering and invasion of Kageyama's personal space has created some semblance of trust between them. Either that or Kageyama trusts more in Tendo's ability to read blockers than anyone else. Ushijima decides to believe in the former, based solely on the fact that it's the less insulting answer of the two.
"Kageyama-kun! Pay attention!" Semi scolds, whacking Kageyama on the back of the head with a rolled-up magazine, "If you don't memorize these vocabulary words, you'll fail the English exam."
"I don't need to know no English!"
Tendo laughs, while Shirabu runs a tired hand over his face murmuring something along the lines of "How can anyone be this dumb?"
"I thought you were supposed to be genius." Semi sighs, exasperated.
Kageyama blinks once, then twice. "I never said that."
Finally, giving up Semi flips to the math portion of Kageyama's practice book. He shows Kageyama what to do, and Kageyama- much to his surprise- is able to pick it up easily.
"So, you're good at math," Shirabu observes, checking Kageyama's work.
Tobio shrugs, "Not really. I just did what Semi-san just showed me."
All four of them stare at Kageyama blankly.
"Kageyama."
"Yes Ushijima-san?"
"What do you normally do during class?"
Kageyama tilts his head, "I sleep. I need to make sure I have enough energy for volleyball. Why?"
Tendo nearly falls out of his chair, as Semi bangs his head on the table.

"I believe they are frustrated with how quickly you are able to learn things," Ushijima informs him, "It would be like a farmer, who has learned the secrets of the land for 10 years suddenly having to deal with a new famer that harvests just as much despite only just beginning."
Kageyama shrugs, as Satori laughs.
"At least we know, Tobio-kun will pass the exam if he doesn't sleep through his lessons."
The younger boy pouts, "But Tendo-senpai, my lessons are boring. What am I supposed to do?"
"Study." Ushijima deadpans, flipping through his own workbook- "A farmer without patience will never have a consistent bountiful harvest. If he leaves the land unattended, the weeds will grow and take over the crops, however if he constantly picks crops before they are ready for harvest than the soil will become barren."
Kageyama stares at him blankly.
"What Wakatoshi-kun means is that you need to have balance!" Tendo says slinging his arms over his two volleyball geniuses. "It's like pork-buns, you can't only eat pork-buns all the time, you've got to eat some veggies too."
Kageyama shrugs while Ushijima hums in agreement. Satisfied with himself, Tendo leans back and plays some game on his phone while the other two complete their work in silence. Before this Tendo wasn't sure that Kageyama would, or even could, pass the Shiratorizawa entrance exam because- lets face it- his grades are deplorable. Honestly, it's a miracle he even made it to high school with grades like that.
That being said, to their luck Tobio isn't stupid- he just doesn't try. He might deny it, but he really is a genius when he puts the effort in. The only issue now is to find some way to stop him from falling asleep in class.
Hm... maybe I should put caffeine in his milk? Nah, that wouldn't work he buys them from the vending machine. Maybe I can tell him coffee will make him play volleyball better? Hm... I doubt it, he knows how to use google and I'm pretty sure that he hates coffee more that he loves volleyball.
"Damnnnnnn this is tough!"
"Shhh!"
Looking up, Tendo realizes that the librarian is fixing him with the stink eye.
"Sorry," He whispers.
The librarian rolls her eyes, turning back to the book she was reading.
"Hey Wakatoshi-kun, can you think of someway to keep Yamayama-kun awake during class?"
Tendo turns to the other 2nd year expectantly but-
"Wakatoshi-kun?" He looks to the other seat, and just like Ushijima's seat its empty.
Where did they go?
