Arranged marriage. That's the only two words I heard come out of my father's mouth that day. The wedding passed by quickly, now that I think about it...I hated the dress my step-mother picked out, the whole day was just a mess.

More like a reminder that I don't actually have any control over my own life. Or heart for that matter.

I hate the whole marriage, I never see my supposed husband. He's always gone, however, at least he's attractive, and has a lot of money, but....I want something more.

Attention.

His attention.

I leaned against the balcony railing and looked up at the stars and felt the breeze flow through my hair. The stars twinkled in the dark sky, I was so focused on the stars, the breeze, I didn't notice the warm arms that wrapped around me from behind.

I jumped a little, just realizing what was going on, but a kiss on the head was for some reason reassuring enough.

"I didn't mean to scare you, love." His voice fills my ear. "I just needed to hold you."

I leaned my head back onto his chest and looked up into those dark green eyes. I smiled a little and he returned it with a small one smile of his own.

"God I love you, little sunshine." He leaned down a little and kissed me. I traced my fingers over the rings on his hand and looked back out into the starry sky. His arms wrapped around me, and a sense of safety filling my chest.
