"For some reason Valentine's Day is more like a reminder to remind me how single I am...." I complained.

"God, why'd you have to say that?" My friend whined.

"Now I feel even more single then I did ten seconds ago." Someone else commented.

"Great going, now you've just reminded all of us how lonely we are!" Someone yelled from the kitchen.

"Jeez. Now I feel like I need to get a life." I heard someone say.

"Don't even. That sounds even harder." Someone groaned.

"My bad guys. Didn't know all of you were so single." I said holding up my hands defensively, and if looks could kill...

"Just shut up!"

"Yeah man."

"No one asked."

I felt my phone buzz as everyone kept arguing over single life, and loneliness. I checked it to see a text from her. I clicked the message and felt my heart beating faster.

"She wants to meet up?" I said out loud. The room went dead silent.

"Who?"

"Yeah who!?"

"Who's she?" Now everyone was trying to snatch my phone and try to read all my personal messages.

"None of your business now back off!" I smacked someone's hand away.

"Imagine getting a girl to text you on Valentine's Day." Someone said.

"Shut up!" Everyone yelled.

"Well, I'm out." I grabbed my coat and ran out of the apartment before anyone else could question what I was doing. "Jeez. I need some new friends." I ran a hand through my hair and walked along the hallway down to her apartment.

I shook my head as I had a giant smile on my face, "Yeah, imagine." I almost tripped walking down the hallway...on a nonexistent curb, and I almost face planted, but instead I landed right on top of her.

"I'm sorry, I wasn't watching where I was go-" Her lips met mine. I think I might've been dreaming for a hot minute until I whispered, "Am I in some romance book?" She let out a soft laugh and I felt my face grow hot.

"I didn't mean to say that out loud, that's embarrassing." I helped her up and rubbed the back of my neck when I felt her kiss my cheek.

"It's cute." That's all she said before letting me into her apartment which just happened to be the door I tripped in front of. How convenient.
