Chapter Twenty-One

He cupped her face and forced her gaze on him. Jacob's mouth closes down on hers, his tongue licking against her tongue even as he drags her hair away from her face and folds her close.

Teresa stiffens for a blink of a moment, before she moans one of her sweet little moans, and softens against him, the very act of her submission undoing any further restraint she had held back from. She wants everything and more, with Jacob, right here and now, and there is no turning back. There was never a moment when that was an option. And if it takes a lifetime, she'll know that again.

He tasted like sin. A devilish sin that would take hours of confession to confess. The very closeness of him clouded Teresa's entire thoughts and senses, making her imagine very dangerous and bad things she'd like him doing to her.

As of this moment, Teresa could care less about her surroundings, and the public display there was showing, even though the darkness shaded them both from prying eyes.

His lips were so soft as he kissed her. He tilted her head back even further for more access to her mouth. The sudden movement made her gasp as his tongue probers to hers, plunging every available corner of her mouth, leaving no place untouched.

He let out a sexy groan, causing Teresa's legs to turn into vegetables straight to the ground if not for the strong hold around her waist. His lengthy fingers raked her silk brown hair, pushing her mouth more closely to his, sucking the entire air out from her.

He bite her bottom lips softly, before dragging it with his teeth to free her lips. The animalistic gesture made her whimper out softly.

She slowly opened her eyes to get a glance of his face. It took her a while to adjust to the darkness, but he had already turned around facing the direction of the door leading outside. He placed his hand on hers then dragged her away from the building.

Her complete senses couldn't gather themselves as they both walked away. Somehow her legs were able to move along with his as he led her straight to his black Mercedes Benz pack in the parking lot.

She was able to snap out of her haze the instant the car door by her side slammed shut. She shook her head to clear out the cloud off her senses.

The sound of the driver's side door opening captured her attention. Jacob's tall figure entered the car, before shutting it and immediately drove off from the area.

She noticed as his hands held the steering wheel tight, making his knuckles white. His entire posture was stiff like he was trying to restrain himself.

Teresa opened her mouth to speak and try to break the silence that was prolonging far too long inside the quiet car.

Jacob seemed to notice her about to speak and shook his head for her not to speak. She found herself immediately agreeing to his gesture.

She had absolutely nothing to say. It was like her lips were tied, like her vocal cord was broken. She turned her attention to the window side of the car, trying her best to take in the scene as the car passes, but she was unable to capture anything.

Her full thought went back to the what had taken place a while ago. Her body still shaking from the kiss and pleasure he had inflicted on her entire being. Never in her life has she ever felt sure emotion before from another man. And the very man she least expected to give her such feelings ended up giving her more than she bargained for.

Who'd have thought almighty Teresa Andrew who hates the very gut of Jacob Snow, would want more from him. She wasn't satisfied, and she fears she might never be satisfied with his kiss or anything he had to offer her.

She wanted more. More than just a kiss.

Too far deep in her thought, she hadn't realized the car had stopped, until the door opened for her to step out.

"Where are we?" Teresa asked as she took the hand he had offered to her. She stepped out immediately catching a full glimpse of the sun about to set and give away to the darkness of the night.

She surveyed the area he had stopped to realize there was a hill overlooking almost the entire area of the city.

"My special place." He answered from behind her. She whirled her gaze towards him and caught him leaning on the hood of his car. He had a small smile on his face as he gave her a sheepish look. "I'm sure you have a lot of questions for me?"

Unable to say anything, she nodded, still mesmerized at his handsome sculpture. She swallowed hard as she took note of a little visible hair beard growing on his jaw and chin.

She finally took in his entire face with the help of the sunlight on him.

He looked tired. The dark circles around his eyes are fully visible for any living being around to notice. His brown hair tattered and disorganized. He was far from the Jacob she knew.

Teresa frowned at his appearance as he wore simple faded blue jeans with a deep blue Seattle Marinade baseball tee-shirt, both his hands deep in his side pocket.

She has never seen Jacob this vulnerable before. The sight of him like this saddens her a lot, it was a look she doesn't like written on his face, even if it was the first time seeing such a look on him.

"What's wrong Jacob?" She asked her voice filled with concern, the spring air of the day beginning to get to her as night falls quickly.

Jacob sighs, averting his gaze away from her, like he needs to gather himself for a little while. "I like you Teresa. I really like you a lot."

His confession made her gasp in surprise. She wasn't expecting such words from him. Teresa kept her gaze on his as he lifted his eyes back on her. She searched his eyes deeply wanting to see any hint of humor or mischief in it, but she saw nothing but sincerity.

Her heart immediately skipped a bit, before beating fast out of her own accord. "You like me?" She said breathlessly, bewildered. The thought of her daydreaming crossed her mind for a while, but the expression on his face kept drawing her back.

"Ever since the first day I knew you." He deadpanned, giving no more word away, but the heavy weight of his word lingering in the air.

"But I thought you didn't. All my life since I've known you, you've always found pleasure in making my life a living hell. I immediately presumed you hated me. I didn't know." She said pointing out her own point of view. The entire situation still surprised her a lot.

Jacob chuckled softly at her word. "Hate is really a strong word for what I feel for you. I never for once in my life hated you, that was the last thing I would ever feel for you." He spoke so carefully that Teresa's eyes almost became blurry with tears. "Would it surprise you if I had told you all those things I did to you in the past to gain your attention?"

Teresa's mouth became dry the moment he said those words, every part of her body became cold and hot. "Why didn't you just tell me?"

"You didn't give me the chance to. All your focus then was on Gideon. During our highschool days, I tried making things right with you, but each time I came close to you, you either flinched at my sight, or you ran in the opposite direction. I won't lie and say that reaction from you didn't bother me, because it does. Then I thought if you still think bad of me then that was okay, that means you still had some feelings for me, even if it was just a little." He said not pausing for a minute to breathe, he spoke like he needed to get the entire words off his chest.

"Is that why you did all this? From the fake fiancée, to the whole blackmail and games. You did all those things because of your feelings for me?" She asked not in an accusing tone. She spoke rather softly not wanting to complicate the whole thing. "Did you also move to New York because of me?"

His eyes locked tight in hers, not snapping it away from hers as an unreadable expression passed though his eyes. "It might seem or sound obsessive to you, but you weren't the main reason I decided to move everything I own to this place. New York is a good place to build a business with all the competitors around." He paused, taking in a deep breath before continuing. "About the whole fiancée and other things. I was unable to control myself when I saw you for the first time since ten years after you left home. When I sighted you in Gideon's company building those emotions I tried forgetting immediately slammed back at me. I couldn't resist you, I wanted you so much I had to fake my own grandfather's sickness."

As he spoke Teresa could see vividly how much it took a lot from him to be able to say those words. This was the most she had ever seen him speak, it was a very clear sign how much he really meant every word he spoke and confession.

He kept speaking, not giving her a chance to speak even if she wanted nothing more than to say something. "When we were in Lakewood I tried showing you a side of me you didn't get the chance to see. But it was like each time I tried doing so you kept pushing me back. And that hurt, I won't lie about that. When you left I tried giving you time even if I was in New York. I thought the best way to approach you was by using your friend to keep you close to me. But it only made me realize that wasn't what I wanted you to feel for me."

He straightened himself away from the hood of his car, then stride towards Teresa's direction. Each step he took made her shiver in ways she couldn't begin to explain. She became totally immobile and frozen, until he covered the space between them, leaving him at arm's length.

"Teresa." He called out her name softly and gently, almost making her cry out by the comfort of his voice. Her eyes remained locked on his as she watched him take in a shaky breath. "I don't want to play any games with you. All I want is for you to give me a chance. A chance to show you how much you really mean to me. A chance to treat you like the queen you are. Please give me a chance."

She was hesitant in speaking or responding, the whole thing was too much for her to take in instantly. Her head almost spinning at his words.

This wasn't how she'd expected the whole day to turn out to be. Hearing Jacob's confession wasn't what she ever expected would be coming out from his mouth. The thought of Jacob never hating her but rather liking her overwhelmed her too much that she immediately put some space between them both.

"I can't do this. I don't think I'm ready to hear this from you right now." She said as the reality of his confession began sinking into her head.

She walked past him, pacing around the area in circles, before stopping to gaze at his helpless form. She wanted to say more, but she was still totally speechless, not due to the close proximity between them both, not by his word, but by the item he pulled out from his pocket when he removed both hands from his pocket.

"What's this Jacob?" She was baffled by the sight of what he held on the palm of his hands.

He walked back to her, taking her hands then opened up her palm to place the jewelry she had seen at the auction laying on her outstretched hands. He dropped the necklace and the pair of earrings, and bracelet on her palm. Before walking backwards to put a space between them both.

"I can't accept this Jacob, it's too much." She shook her head, refusing the obvious expensive jewelry he had just gifted her. Teresa wasn't aware he had noticed her interest in the item that night. The thought of him getting this for her made her throat close up with a lot of emotions running though her.

"Here's what is going to happen. If you want to give this attraction between us a chance to become more, I want you to come here by this time tomorrow wearing this jewelry on you, this car will be waiting outside your building to pick you up. And if you don't want anything between us. You can drop the jewelry with the driver waiting in the car. And I promise to never bother you again." He finalized with such certainty that Teresa fought to blink back the tears that were fighting to spill out from her eyes.

Silently she cursed internally. This wasn't how she expected the day to end up. Damn it.

She wants to keep hating him. She really wished but he was making it too hard.

She could only think of one thing. She needed to stay the hell away from Jacob, for both their sake.
