Knock knock.

You flutter your eyelashes open. You wince in pain from the last torture you had in your dream. It's gonna leave a big scar now. "Huh? What was that?" You question. Knock knock. You limp over to your door and creak it open. No one's there. Cautious, you peek your head out the door. Left, no one there. Right, no one there. Straight, no one there. You lift an eyebrow up and slowly close the door. Knock knock. Where is that sound coming from? Your closet or window? You make your way over to the closet and open it. Again, all you see is your clothes. Confused, you make your way to the window. Every step hurt more but your curiosity kept you going. You unlock the laches and slide the window up. You can hear sharp breathing outside the window. You take a step back and ask, "Hello? Who's there?" They pull out a flashlight from what must be their pocket and shine it in their own face. It's Toby, like usual. Relief fills your body as you step back to let him in. "Toby, it's 3 in the morning. I understand you don't want to be seen by my family but coming earlier and earlier each day won't help my health..." you state. He frowns and apologizes. You forgive him and tell him to come around 5-6 and stay until school starts. "Hey, you said you don't have a lot of friends. Why don't I walk you to school everyday?" Toby asks. A faint tint of pink was visible on your cheeks. "U-Um, sure i-if y-you want..." you stutter. He giggles at your actions. You pout in response. "Well, since it's Saturday, what should we do?" You ask. "I don't know," he responds. You think for a moment before answering,"My mom and dad are going on a business trip in a couple of minutes. They'll be gone for a week. Max is probably out with his friends like usual, so it'll be just you, me, and Lara." "Will Lara like me?" He questions. Will Lara like him? She hated me at first, thinking I was a monster wanting to hurt her. And Toby is even more scary looking than me so I don't know if Lara will like him... You get out of your daze when Toby is as snapping his fingers in front of your face. "I...don't know..." you sadly say. He doesn't look that upset by your response. "I'm sure she'll like me!" Toby cheerfully says. You give a warm smile, trying to make him happy, when deep inside you weren't smiling, knowing she'll hate him. Lying is the best way to solve this, right? Yeah, it usually always is. Ok...if you insist... "You ready to meet her?" You calmly ask. "Sure!" He responds with a closed-eyed tilted-head smile. Both of you make your way out of your bedroom to Lara's room. You knock once. "Come in!" A faint voice could be heard on the other side. You slowly turn the doorknob and walk in. "Hey sis, this is Toby. I wanted you to meet him," you state. "Oh, hi Toby--..." she cheerfully says until she screams. Thankfully, your parents already left for work and Max left to hang with his friends. You "shh" Lara and cover her mouth with your hand. Toby takes a step back. "S-Sorry for scaring you..." he says rubbing the back of his neck. Lara pants heavily with her pupils really small. "It's...okay..." she says between breathes. "He's my friend, he's not dangerous," you claim. Lara seemed less tense as you said that. Toby puts his hand out for Lara to shake. She cautiously accepts it and shakes back. "So, what were you doing?" You ask. "Oh, just drawing," she implies. "You wanna draw?" You question Toby. "Sure!" Toby playfully says. You giggle in response. "How about we do a challenge? A three-marker challenge!" You suggest. Lara shrugs but then says "sure". Toby just accepts the offer. You state the rules: 5 minutes to draw, can't look at others' drawings, can't grab the markers yet for reference, etc. From past experience, you know a more "general" view of a drawing will do better than a specific view of one. If you drew a animal--like a cat--the cat cannot be the colors like purple, blue, or green. So, if you drew a girl, that would be a more general perspective since the girl can have any color hair, any color clothes, etc. The girl route seems the best. You sketch out every detail ending in a medium-lengthed hair girl with a striped crop top with sleeves, jeans, and sneakers (very specific ik). Your ringer goes off. You yell, "Time's up!" Everyone stops drawing. Toby ends up with a beautiful nature scenery and Lara with a girl and boy sitting on a bench together. Lara pulls out the bin of markers and hands it to you. You shove your hand it, feeling every marker before picking some. You end up with brown, light yellow, and dark blue. Perfect... You color and shade the girl's hair brown, making sure to get every spot. Then the shirt; you color the shirt the light yellow but you leave some spots white for the lighting, and other spots dark yellow for shading. You then do the jeans, nothing special. Just dark blue jeans. "Done!" You cheer. The other two keep coloring their drawings in. They eventually finish and hold a contest. They declared you winner which made you flush in embarrassment.
~Random Day~
Lara got on the school bus and drove off to school. On the other hand, you started walking to school with Toby like usual. After much conversing, you both separate your ways and do your own thing. You go to classes, eat lunch, go to locker, get hurt by bullies, etc. Nothing new or special. Until you get called down to the principal's office later that same day...
~Later that same day but 3rd Person POV~
RING!! RING!!!!
The fire alarm was going off. Through the loud speakers there could be heard, "THIS IS NOT A DRILL!!!! NOT A DRILL!!!" Knowing this was not planned, the kids ran for their life out of the burning building. Not all kids though. The safeties stayed back. They knew they had to find any other missing kids, even though it was risking their life. They dashed into the crumbling building. Turns out, Lara was a safety. One of the best. But, that day, Lara was never found...assumed dead from the fire...
