Prom night had finally arrived, and to Emily's surprise, she was actually excited about it. JJ, Penelope, and Emily were getting ready at her house. Penelope was painting Emily's nails a dark red, while Emily was doing the best she could to paint JJ's nails with white French tips.
"Pen and I are going to go pick up dinner. We'll be back in fifteen." JJ said leaving Emily alone in her large house.
Emily walked to her kitchen and got herself a glass of water. Just then, she heard the doorbell rang. She finished her water and walked to the door. She answered the door in a black tank top and grey shorts to find Aaron on the other side. "What are you doing here, Aaron?" She asked leaning against the doorframe.
Aaron's hands were in his pockets, and he gave her a small smile. "Why are you all done up?" He asked gesturing to painted nails.
"Pen, JJ, and I are getting for prom. Pen was just painting my nails. We have to get a head start." She explained.
"They look nice." He said with a small, sheepish smile.
"Why are you here?" She asked. Emily let her friend enter, closing the door behind her.
"Just to say 'hi'. And to let you know that everyone will be here in about half an hour for dinner."
"Perfect. Penelope and JJ just left to get dinner."
Aaron simply nodded in response. "Can you do something for me?"
"What?"
"I want your honest opinion on my dress. I feel like JJ and Pen were being too nice."
"Ok." And with that, Emily led Aaron up to her room. He'd never seen her room before. In fact, he'd never been upstairs.
Emily and Aaron entered her room. It was larger than he expected and slightly messy. Emily grabbed a hanger with a dress from her closet and quickly ran to the bathroom to change.
Aaron casually walked around her room. A photo wall caught his eye. There were pictures of her and JJ and Penelope from the past year or two, as well as a picture of her on Derek's back at the beach. In all of the pictures she had a bright smile on her face. Her smile was the most intoxicating thing Aaron knew of. She rarely truly smiled, but when she did, it lit up Aaron's world. His eyes fell on one particular picture in the center of her photo wall. It was a picture of her and Aaron making funny faces. He remembered that day well. A smile appeared in his face as he gazed at all the photos.
Aaron was brought back to reality by a Emily's voice. "Ok. I'm ready." She said with a sigh.
"Come out then." He replied leaning against the wall.
"Promise you won't laugh?"
Aaron's brow furrowed slightly. "Why would I laugh?"
"Just promise me."
"Ok. I promise."
There was some brief shuffling before the door opened. It took everything for Aaron not to gasp. Emily stood before him a flow length emerald green dress. It was slightly low cut with spaghetti straps and a slit up her thigh. It fit her waist perfectly and elongated her body. "That bad huh?" She said with a disappointed sigh.
Aaron shook his head to bring himself back to reality. "No. You uh...look really nice." He said, trying not to blush.
Emily quickly walked back to the bathroom to look at herself in the mirror. Aaron followed and stood behind her, watching her turn around to make sure the dress fit well. He watched the dress twirl, the satin fabric shining in the light of the bathroom. There was no doubt she looked beautiful in her dress, and Aaron could feel his emotions taking over.
As Emily looked at herself in her dress. She looked up and saw Aaron standing behind her with a look in his eyes that she didn't recognize. She turned around with a confused expression on her face. "Why are you looking at me like that?" She asked with a furrowed brow.
In one swift motion, Aaron walked up to Emily and connected their lips. He put his hands on her face, pulling their lips closer together. Emily grabbed him by the waist as he pushed her up against the counter, making Emily moan in pleasure. He gently lifted her up onto the counter as she wrapped her legs around his hips.
Emily snaked her fingers through his thick brown hair, making him groan through their kiss. She parted his lips slightly which he gladly opened for her, letting their tongues fight for dominance. Emily's hands made their way to the hem of Aaron's shirt, lightly tugging at it before lifting it up. Aaron threw his shirt onto the floor and began looking for the back zipper of Emily's dress. He managed to grab the metal tab and began pulling it down. When it was about half unzipped, Emily heard the front door open. "Em!" Penelope called. "We're back."
"Where are you, Princess?" Derek's low voice asked.
Emily and Aaron quickly separated as she jumped off the counter. She looked at Aaron who stood before her dumbstruck by what had happened. "Fix your hair!" Emily whisper shouted as she fixed her own. "I'll be down in a bit."
Aaron quickly brushed his hair back to a presentable state. She quickly looked him up and down, handing him his shirt that had been previously discarded. He threw it on left Emily alone in her room to change; secretly Emily wished he would've kept his shirt off, admiring his defined torso.
Aaron came down first and gave them a small smile. Emily followed no more than thirty seconds later. They were met with the stare of their friends. "What are you doing here, Aaron?" JJ asked.
"I wanted him to give his honest opinion on my dress." Emily quickly responded, gesturing to her green dress.
"Why him?" Derek asked.
"Because Pen and JJ were being too nice." Emily shrugged.
The brunette knew that her friends didn't buy her excuse, but it was the only one she could come up with on the spot. Technically she was telling the truth, just not all of it. They all sat down for dinner. Despite the fact that everyone was talking, Emily and Aaron didn't speak a word to each other. They'd exchange occasional glances but that was it. This didn't go unnoticed by their friends, but they thought it was best to not say anything.
After dinner, the guys left to get ready. They said they'd be back in a couple hours to pick up the girls, giving them plenty of time to get ready. Once the door shut behind the guys, JJ and Penelope immediately turned towards Emily with suspicious looks. "What was that about?" JJ asked with a hand on her hip.
"I don't know what you're talking about." Emily lied as she walked upstairs.
"Cut the bullshit, Em." JJ said following her up the stairs.
"Something happened between you and Aaron didn't it? When he came over?" Penelope chimed in.
Emily continued walking up the stairs and made her way to her bathroom. "Nothing happened." Emily continued.
"You're a terrible liar. Almost as bad as me." Penelope said with a sigh.
Emily hopped up on the bathroom counter that Aaron had put her on not an hour earlier. Flashbacks of that encounter went through your mind and a small smile appeared on her face. "Fine. You wanna know what happened? Aaron kissed me. Are you happy?" Emily finally said.
Emily's two blonde friend stared at her with shocked expressions. "He did what?" Penelope asked with a gasp. "I'm not that surprised but still."
"Well, how do you feel about it Emily?" JJ asked.
Emily shook her head, trying for one the words. "I mean. What is there really to say? It was a great kiss." Emily shrugged. "Can we drop it for now? We should get ready. The guys will be here soon to pick us up."
JJ and Penelope gave her approving but disappointed nods. The girls began getting ready, not speaking of what happened between Emily and Aaron.

After two hours, the girls were all dolled up. Penelope was wearing a floor length, pink, floral dress with five inches gold heels. She wore a floral beret with curled hair. JJ wore a floor length, strapless black dress with floral lace paired with a pair of strappy gold heels. Her blonde hair was slick back and gently curled. She wore a set of simple gold necklaces to complete her outfit. And Emily was wearing her satin green dress and a pair of black pumps. Her hair was done up in a low curled bun with pieces pulled out, and she wore simple gold dangly earrings.
Just as they finished getting ready, the doorbell rang. The girls rushed down the stairs, and Emily greeted her well dressed friends at the door. Derek wore a satin navy blue suit with a black tie while Spencer wore a lighter blue suit with a black bowtie and mismatched socks. David was wearing a burgundy suit with black lapels and a black bowtie. And Aaron was wearing a simple black tux with matching bowtie that was tailored perfectly to his tall figure.
Emily greeted her friends with a smile. "Hey guys! You look great!" Emily said letting her friends in.
As her friends entered, she noticed that Spencer was holding a corsage in his hands as he nervously glanced at JJ. "You got something for JJ?" Emily asked with a smirk.
He slowly walked over to JJ. "I-uh brought this for you." Spencer said nervously. He took it out of the box and slipped it on JJ's small wrist.
Throughout the whole conversation, Emily could feel Aaron's dark eyes on her. She glance over at Aaron and shot him a small, shy smile. He returned the gesture, before they both turned their attention back to their friends.
"Aw! Thanks Spenc!" JJ said with a blush.
"So how long's this been going on?" David asked gesturing back and forth between JJ and Spencer.
"Four months, three weeks, and five days." Spencer said with a flat smile.
"Wow. What a romantic." Derek smirked.
"I'm so happy for you guys!" Penelope aid hugging them.
"Is everyone ready?" David asked.
"Yeah. Let's go!" Emily said grabbing her small purse.
Derek opened the door and let everyone out. Emily and Aron were the last ones out. As they walked to the cars, Aaron opened the passenger door for Emily, leaning over her shoulder. "You look beautiful." He whispered.
Emily couldn't help but smile. She felt a blush on her cheeks as Aaron closed the door.

Prom was about two hours in and everyone was still dancing. Emily was dancing with Derek and JJ, moving her hips to the beat of the song as she enjoyed the music. As the song eventually came to an end, everyone stopped dancing. A slow song came on, Emily watched as some people danced with each other while others walked off the dance floor completely; she included herself in the ladder, making her way off the floor.
Derek offered his hand to Penelope, and she took it as he lead her to the dance floor. They slowly swayed to the music and enjoyed each other's company. JJ asked Spencer to danced, and Emily saw JJ place her head on Spencer's chest. Emily smiled at how happy her friends were. She stood against a pillar and watched her friends dance with one another. She let out a small sigh, secretly wishing a certain tall brunette would ask her to dance.
As if he'd read her mind, Aaron slowly walked up to Emily with his hands in his pockets. He looked at her with a small grin on his face. "Would you like to dance?" He asked in a low voice.
"Of course." Emily said with a smile.
Aaron placed his hand on the small of her back, walking towards the dance floor together. The small gesture sent chills up her spine, but in a good way. As they got to the dance floor, Aaron gently grabbed her small hand in his own and placed his other hand on her waist, pulling Emily closer to him. She placed her hand on his shoulder, and they slowly swayed to the music, staring into each other's eyes in a comfortable silence.
Eventually Emily broke the silence, beginning with a light chuckle. "Wow!" She said quickly glancing at her feet and back up at Aaron. "Wow! I didn't know Aaron Hotchner could dance!"
Aaron let out a chuckle, showing off his dimples that Emily found irresistible. "There's a lot you don't know about me, Miss Prentiss." He joked back.
"Oh? Like what?" She tilted her head slightly.
Aaron leaned in closer to Emily right next to her ear. She felt his breath graze her ear. "Well, I'm in love with the girl I'm dancing with."
Emily pulled away from Aaron's face and looked up at him with a slightly shocked expression on her face. Then a small smirk appeared the raven haired girl's face. She brought her hand from his shoulder to the back of his neck and pulled him into a kiss. This kiss was different from the first. It was gentle and filled with a different kind of intimacy. Emily felt Aaron's grip her waist tighten, resulting in their bodies pressed against one another.
They finally pulled apart and stared into each other's eyes with big grins on their faces. "For what it's worth, I'm in love with the guy I'm dancing with."
Aaron's grin grew wider into a smile before bring his lips down to hers for another kiss.
