You and Hiccup had finally gotten some time away. He'd offered a picnic on the beach to start to make up for everything that had happened. While you'd told him that he didn't have to keep feeling bad about it, there was no way you were going to turn his offer down.

So now, here you were. You were on the beach, side by side. It was just how you wanted it. Nobody else, just the two of you. You cuddled closer to him as he wrapped an arm around you. You sighed happily, enjoying his embrace.

"Finally, some alone time." Hiccup said to you. You nodded in agreement.

"No distractions, no interr-" Just as you were saying that, you heard a shout.

"Incoming!" You both looked up and dodged out of the way in shock and surprise.

"Oh, for Thor's sakes, what are you guys-!?" Hiccup cut off as he looked at the Twins who had quite literally crashed the picnic.

"Nope, not long enough." Ruff said to her brother.

"What about width?"

"Sorry, bro. Width and length, both too small."

"Oh, come on! What do we have to do to be the greatest around here?"

"All right, all right, will somebody please fill me in?" Hiccup asked as you both walked over.

"Well, you see, every dragon but ours has a talent. Something special that makes them famous." Tuff began.

"Hookfang's the hottest, Meatlug makes Gronckle Iron, Nightshade is the best at running, swimming, and climbing, and Stormfly's the fastest, but only when she eats chicken."

"Which still counts, even if it's only a technicality. And Toothless.. Ha. Come on. He's the cutest, obviously. Like a little puppy. Right, T? You feel me?" You giggled. Well, while I still think Nightshade is adorable, he has a point with Toothless being cute. "What about Barf and Belch? What makes them special? You know, famous?"

"They're the gassiest?" You offered, not really sure yourself.

"They have two heads?" Hiccup said next.

"Oh, come on! You're better than that." Tuff complained at the title.

"They have....two heads?" Hiccup didn't have any other ideas apparently.

"So, my oh-so-challenged friend, we're gonna set a record." Ruff told him.

"A record exclusively for the Zippleback."

"Like longest skidmark."

"Didn't really make the cut on that one, did you?" You asked.

"Your negativity will not deter us, (Y/n)." The hopped back on Barf and Belch. "Most consecutive barrel rolls in one flight. Go!" They tried it, but they fell off and their dragon crashed right on top of them.

"Ugh. What a rough one..." Ruff said from underneath the dragon. You and Hiccup were about to go help them when Fishlegs came.

"Hiccup, Terror Mail from Stoick." You both looked at each other.

"I guess the picnic will have to wait." You sighed, smiling a little. You had come to expect this more often than not.

"Yeah. I'm sorry. I promise that, as soon as I deal with this, we'll have our time together again." You smiled as you both hurried after Fishlegs to the Clubhouse. After you had all read the letter, Hiccup pulled out his map and you all got down to bussiness.

"This is where my dad found the Dragon Eye lens."

"And he wants you and (Y/n) to come alone. Doesn't that seem kind of weird?" Fishlegs stated. Just then, Snotlout and the twins came in.

"I said no, and I mean it!" Snotlout shouted at them.

"But please! We need a witness for our record." Tuff begged.

"Yeah, if no one is around to see us perform these amazing records, do they actually happen?" Ruff asked.

"Good point." Tuff agreed.

"Oh my Thor! Listen, I got better things to do than waste my precious time watching you two muttonheads goof off." Snotlout snapped.

"Oh, yeah? Like what?" Ruff asked, causing him to paused.

"Uh...I have to go. Bye!" Tuff and Ruff followed after him.

"Can I get a witness? Can I? Please?" Tuff kept begging as they headed off.

"Look, if my dad's found a lens, I have to investigate." Hiccup replied.

"But something's off. It's not like Stoick to be this cryptic. Maybe I should go with you two." Arrow offered.

"No. My dad said he just want me and (Y/n), so that's what we're gonna do." Arrow didn't look happy about that.

"It'll be alright, Arrow. I promise." You assured him. He sighed and nodded, watching as you both hurried off together. "You have to admit, though, he's got a point. Something isn't right, Hiccup." You said.

"Yeah. I know. Which is why I had a bit of a back-up plan already set."

"Well, I just hope that we made the right call."

You both arrived at the island late at night. It was dark and it was quiet. There was nothing even signaling that anyone was there or had even been there in the first place. This put both you and Hiccup on edge.

"(Y/n), keep your guard up. You too, bud." Hiccup said quietly. You nodded, patting Nightshade as she growled a little and kept her tail at the ready. You all headed deeper into the woods. Then, your dragons spotted something. It was a small game piece. You knew instantly who it was after seeing that.

"The Accomplice. One of the most important pieces in all of Maces & Talons, allowing a player to use an opponent's piece for their own ends. You can certainly win without it, but with it, you can attain total victory."

Nightshade roared, but almost instantly a trap was set off. You shrieked as you were knocked off of Nightshade and suddenly tied to a tree. Nightshade instantly was snatched up and hanging in a net next to you.

"(Y/n)!" Hiccup exclaimed. While he was distracted, Viggo fired a bola at Toothless, rendering him unable to fire and knocking Hiccup off his back as well. Hiccup's Dragon Blade as out in an instant.

"Stand down. I don't want to fight." Viggo said.

"Yeah, I figured it was you." Hiccup replied.

"Hmm. I'm impressed. For once, you're thinking a few moves ahead. However, I can't let you take too much credit. A false Terror Mail is not my most clever ruse, but time was of the essence."

"Viggo, what do you want?" Hiccup demanded.

"It appears Johann and Krogan have decided I am expendable. I was given false information regarding the location of a Dragon Eye lens, and they attempted to drop a mountain on me. Luckily, I managed to escape."

"And you expect us to believe this for some reason?" You asked.

"Believe it or not, it is the absolute truth. Can you imagine the pain of betrayal, Hiccup?" Hiccup glared at him.

"I can!" He attacked Viggo, but both of you were shocked as he pulled out his own flaming sword. You struggled, trying to reach one of your weapons so you could get free and help all three of them.

"I liked your fire sword so much I made my own with improvements, of course." They kept fighting as you continued to try and reach for your weapons. "I only want to talk!"

"There's nothing to talk about!"

"Please! If you'd just..." Hiccup didn't listen. "Enough!" You saw gas come out of one end of his sword.

"What?" Viggo knocked Hiccup back and you gasped.

"Hiccup!"

"This is pointless." Viggo said, walking over to Toothless. Toothless growled at him. "Easy, dragon." Viggo freed him and Toothless growled again before hurrying over to Hiccup. Viggo came over to you next. You glared at him "Please, (Y/n), I have no intent to harm you. Any of you." He carefully cut you free before going over and cutting Nightshade down. You hurried over to her as she purred, nuzzling you gently.

"If you're not here to attack us, what do you want, Viggo?" You asked, still a bit hostile toward him.

"I need your help." He replied. Viggo started a fire and began to make some fish for Toothless and Nightshade. As he did this, he began to explain.

"I won't spend the rest of my life waiting for Johann or Krogan to kill me. I must strike first."

"Hey, I'll tell you what, I'll defeat Joann, and you can watch from your cell on Outcast Island. Does that sound good?" Hiccup snapped at him.

"Oh, Hiccup, you have many admirable qualities, but ruthlessness is not one of them. You are too good, too pure, too innocent, which will get you or someone you love killed. Without that ruthlessness you will fail against Johann. It's one of the many reasons I called both of you here. (Y/n) has many more qualities that you lack. You two are one in the same, yet the difference is remarkable at the same time. It's why I wanted both of you. You make a formidable team together. Which is why Johann wanted to take out one of you first. He wanted to pleasure of watching you crumble, but it was his ultimate mistake in the end, for I have never seen a pair of Vikings fight harder for each other than you two. Even in your quarels, both of you have always recognized that you are stronger together." You were a little stunned by that.

"That...was surprisingly...encouraging." You said, still a bit awkward with how you felt about him. He smiled a little at you at he tossed the fish to Nightshade and Toothless. They both sniffed in cautiously before swallowing it down.

"The truth is, I can't exact my revenge without you or your two or your dragons. And once Johann and Krogan are defeated, I will disappear. You have my word."

"And what good is your word, Viggo? After everything you've done, all the dragons and people you've hurt, you expect me to believe you? I will never help you. We will never help you." Hiccup told him sternly.

"Even if it means acquiring Johann's Dragon Eye and all his lenses?"

"I don't trust you." Hiccup replied.

"And what about you, (Y/n)? Anything to say?" You paused for a minute, thinking back to the first time Dagur started showing his good side. You looked up at him again, wondering if you could see it in him too. Could he really be telling the truth? You couldn't be sure just yet.

"I haven't seen much to prove your trustworthiness, Viggo. While I always remain open to be surprised, it will take a lot more than this to persuade me." He grinned a little with a shrug.

"You speak fairly. That's one of the many thing I like about you. You're always willing to try, in a certain sense. However, it tends to get you n a spot of trouble now and then, does it not?" He took his own cooked fish and took a bite. "Do you know what red oleander is?" He asked the two of you.

"Of course." Hiccup replied. Viggo laughed.

"Well, you don't, actually. If you did, you would know that if the flower is ingested by a dragon, it will cause a slow, agonizing death. Dragons won't go near it, due to its pungent odor, but if it is disguised with another strong smell. Something like, say...fish?" Both of you were on your feet in an instant.

"You give us the antidote!" Hiccup demanded. Viggo raised his hands as the sword was pointed at him.

"I don't have it. Only Johann does. Help me and I will get you the antidote. Otherwise, in three days' time, your dragons will die." You both went to your dragons, holding them close as you knew you both had no choice now.

"What's the plan?" Hiccup asked.

"We infiltrate Johann's base and steal the Dragon Eye and lenses, making Johann worthless to Krogan. And they will destroy each other."

"How do you figure?" You asked.

"Krogan doesn't actually work for Johann. He's employed by a mysterious buyer from the North." Viggo explained.

"Mysterious buyer? Who?" Hiccup asked.

"Hmm, Johann would never tell me. Perhaps he thought if I knew, I would eliminate him and take the contract myself. Which, of course, I would."

"Such honor." Hiccup grumbled.

"I am simply a businessman." Viggo replied.

"I'm sure the Dragon Eye and lenses will be heavily guarded." Hiccup began.

"Of course." Viggo replied.

"Booby-trapped." You added.

"Undoubtedly."

"So how do you expect to get them?" Hiccup asked.

"With this." He said, holding up the game piece from before.

"Alright, and what piece would that be, Viggo?" You asked. He grinned.

"We must begin the journey at once. Get your dragons ready to fly."

You all got ready to go and headed off. Viggo had told you what island to go to. It wasn't a very long flight, but it was long enough. The air was tense as you kept a close eye on Viggo. You didn't like him riding with Hiccup. Still, it's not like you all had much of a choice. Hiccup leaned down and patted Toothless.

"You okay, bud?" Toothless purred at him.

"The symptoms won't come on for another day or so. By the time we've concluded our business, your dragons will have the antidote." Hiccup glared at him. "Oh, don't be like that, Hiccup! What did I tell you about ruthlessness?"

"You poisoned our dragons, Viggo. What'd you expect? You think we're gonna be best friends?" Hiccup snapped.

"Toothless and Nightshade will be fine. You have my word." You soon spotted a mountain top nearby. "Fly to that mountaintop." You both flew into the snowy storm and landed.

"Viggo, what are we doing here?" Hiccup asked.

"Yeah, I don't see any point in us trying to freeze ourselves." You added.

"In ancient times, the Singetail was one of the most feared dragons. However, there was one dragon whose powerful blasts could neutralize the Singetail's fire. Meet our accomplice, you two, the Singetail's only predator...the Skrill." The Skrill roared at all of you, being very defensive.

"Are you insane? Do you have any idea how territorial the Skrill is!?" Hiccup called.

"We don't have much time. Get-" Hiccup cut Viggo off.

"If you think I'm gonna help you capture and torture this dragon for your revenge, you've got another thing coming."

"You're in no position to bargain." The Skrill fired and the two of you had to dodge it. Toothless got ready to fire, but Viggo stopped him. "Don't aggravate it!"

"I am not-" It fired again and hit Toothless' tail.

"Nightshade!" You commanded. She dove down, catching Hiccup and Toothless and setting them down gently.

"Thanks, (Y/n)." Hiccup said. Toothless and Nightshade got ready to fire, but Viggo stopped them once more.

"Do not fire." He slowly waved the dagger back and forth in front of the Skrill. It began to calm down. "That's right. That's right. Berserkers used metal daggers to lure Skrills into traps. The dragon is drawn to this due to its electrical properties. That's right. We are not enemies. There's no way I would torture this dragon." Viggo said, calming and petting the large dragon. You smiled a little.

"Whoa, I never thought I would hear you say that." Hiccup said.

"Do you have a spare tail in that saddlebag?" Viggo asked. Hiccup grinned. "Good, get Toothless ready to fly." Hiccup put the spare tail on as you walked up to the Skrill. Viggo smiled. "Curious, I'd wager?"

"Well...most of my experiences with a Skrill aren't the best."

"I suppose not. Well, none-the-less, I am honored to provide the opportunity." The Skrill looked at you and you slowly reached out. It sniffed your hand before nuzzling it. You let out the breath you'd been holding. You stared at the dragon in wonder. "You know, I have never seen dragons react to anyone like they react to the two of you. Both of you were truly born with something special."

"Wait, you actually think that?" You asked.

"Of course. While I have spent my life being the opposite of you two, I can still see that you both possess a gift; one that is rarer than any other." You smiled at him.

"Thank you, Viggo."

"Alright, Toothless is ready to go. Right, bud?" Toothless roared in agreement.

"Very good. Then we shall be off. Come on, dragon! We need you help." Viggo said, holding up the dagger. The Skrill roared and took to the air as all of you did. It followed the five of you until you made it to Johann and Krogan's island. Viggo threw the dagger and the Skrill started attacking. The five of you easily avoiding the chaos and slipped inside.

"Well, that worked pretty well." You commented.

"And Krogan's hubris gets the better of him." Viggo stated. You all began to look around, but it wasn't long until you saw people up ahead. You saw Johann and Krogan there with a bunch of their men.

"Okay, here's the plan." Hiccup began.

"I want to thank you, Hiccup, for getting me this far." Viggo said.

"What?" You both asked. He suddenly grabbed you and held a dagger to your throat. You gasped.

"(Y/n)!"

"One move, and your beloved dies!" Viggo threatened.

"Grimborn? I thought you were dead." Krogan said.

"I must apologize, Viggo, for what happened in those caves. Some of my flyers became overzealous." Johann replied.

"Were our roles reversed, I would've done the same. To prove that there are no hard feelings, I've brought you a gift." He said, shoving you toward Krogan as he shoved Hiccup toward some more of his men.

"What are you doing?" Hiccup demanded.

"I told you. You're too pure, Hiccup, too innocent. One day, it would get you killed." You both glared at him.

"Keep them separated!" Johann ordered. You both looked at each other worriedly as you were forced down separate tunnels and into separate cages. Viggo followed you and locked you up first.

"No hard feelings, dear girl." You told you with a smirk. You glared at him as he left to go watch Hiccup get locked up. You grinned a little when neither of your guards were looking. Let's hope this works. We weren't expecting to be seperated.

All you could do now was wait for the signal. You waited with Nightshade, hoping that Viggo could pull it off. You were honestly holding your breath. This was way more dangerous than you had originally expected. But, then again, that's kind of the story of my life, I guess.

Then, you heard it. The explosion was the signal. You quickly took your hidden key and broke out, taking off Nightshade's muzzle and hurrying out with her. You were met with more guards right away.

"Hey! She's getting away!" You grinned and fought them easily with Nightshade's help.

"Come on, girl! We've gotta find the others!" You both hurried along until you came upon an ambush. You gasped. They fired arrows at the two of you. You tried to deflect them, but there were too many and Nightshade was too vulnerable to them thanks to her skin. "Go on ahead, girl! Find Hiccup! I'm right behind you!" She roared worriedly, but obeyed and ran for it.

You fought off as many as you could, but arrows were suddenly hurtling at you from behind. You gasped, not having enough time to react. You braced for the pain, but you were pushed out of the way as someone covered yo. You opened your eyes, seeing Viggo there. You were shocked.

"Are you alright?" He exclaimed.

"Y-yes!" You replied, still a bit shell-shocked.

"Then run! Down the hall is where the others should be. Now go! I'll hold them off!" You nodded and bolted for it. You found Hiccup and the dragons and rushed up to them.

"(Y/n)!" Hiccup hugged you as you ran into his embrace. "Thank the gods you made it okay."

"Barely. I would've been filled with arrows if it wasn't for-" Hiccup looked behind you and glared at who was there.

"Viggo!"

"Apparently, Johann wasn't as easy to fool as I thought." Viggo said, sounding worn down and beat. You were confused as to why he sounded that way.

"You double-crossing!. The antidote. Viggo, where is the antidote?" Hiccup demanded. Viggo laughed a little.

"Oh, there isn't one." You let go of Hiccup and
