POV

I left with Viggo and I felt my body tense as I flew with Toothless and Viggo. I didn't like it either, but I didn't have a choice now. I had to end this now before somebody got hurt...or worse. I thought of what would happen if (Y/n) got hurt. I felt my heart skip a beat. I couldn't let anything happen to her.

"You know, there's word of a tournament. To be hosted by the Tribe of the Whispering Trees." Viggo's voice brought me out of my thoughts. My annoyance instantly returned.

"Yeah, is that right?" I asked.

"Maces and Talons. The winner, apparently, receives a life-size game set made of solid gold."

"Oh, lucky him," I said sarcastically.

"Poor, dear, Hiccup. Relationships can be complicated. Am I right?" I glared at him. "And while I can't put myself directly in your shoes, I can most surely empathize with your situation."

"You can, huh?" I asked.

"Absolutely. To be in love with the girl that is your partner in battle." I felt my heart skip a beat. (Y/n)...h-how does he know? "Not sure how I would balance such a precarious situation. It can certainly cloud the mind, impair judgment. Make even the simplest decisions...vexing." I snapped.

"You know what's 'vexing,' Viggo? Is why you're rambling on trying to get inside my head. I would think, by now, you'd have given up. You see, I'm focused, I'm clear, decisive. What I am not, is your friend, your ally, your Maces and Talons buddy, okay? So let's leave our personal lives out of this and get down to business." I snapped at him.

"I'm only trying to help." He replied.

"If you wanna help, why don't you tell me where we're going and what we're doing." After a moment, he spoke up.

"Stop, Dragon!" Toothless growled, but I stopped him.

"What's going on? There's nothing out here but empty ocean."

"Yes. So, it would appear." I kept looking, but then I heard a new voice.

"Don't you dare, Viggo!"

"Ah, (Y/n)." I turned, seeing him holding up a sword.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa! What the Thor!?"

"I'm afraid, you may have misinterpreted the situation."

"Oh, I have, have I? You know what? I think I can interpret my own scenes. Let go of the sword, now!" (Y/n) growled as Nightshade got ready to fire.

"Exactly what I planned all along."

"Yeah, right! You're not going to convince me, Viggo." I saw how her eyes were blazing. She looked ready to kill him no matter what move he made.

"Give us a moment, (Y/n), and all will be revealed. I assure you." He dropped the sword and I was stunned as the water began to move.

"What is that!?" I exclaimed. (Y/n) and I both pulled up to get some distance from it. I got a better look at it and I was shocked. "A Submaripper?!"

"Indeed. Now, hurry! Follow it!" I listened to him and as we flew along, I saw it attack the Shellfire. I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

"So the dagger was to stir up the water and cause the Submaripper to surface?"

"Precisely."

"But, how could you know it would react like this?"

"Hiccup, the Submaripper is the natural and hated enemy of the Shellfire. A little fact I kept in my tunic for a day like this."

"The Dragon Eye!" I finally understood.

"Precisely."

"The Shellfire is tied up with Submaripper. This may be our best chance to take out the rest of the ships!" I called over to (Y/n). She nodded.

"Come on, girl!!" I smiled as she rushed off, taking down ships with ease. I hurried to help her. As we fought, Toothless and I narrowly missed getting hit by a boulder.

"Okay. That was way too close. Viggo, I need to drop you on the beach. You're slowing us down."

"Pity. I was going to enjoy watching Ryker go down with the ship." We landed and he got off. "We may be adversaries, Hiccup, but my respect for you is beyond what I could possibly put into words." I nodded, knowing that he was telling the truth. Even I had to admit, there were things I could respect about him as well.

We took off and finished the last of the ships out on the water. I then hurried back to the island to find Dagur. When I found him, I saw him riding the Triple Strike instead of Shattermaster. Once I got closer, I saw Shattermaster was injured.

"Made a new friend, huh?" I asked him.

"Seems so. Don't you just love the tails? And that snapping sound. Whoo-hoo-hoo! Gives me goosies~!" I helped him fight off the last of the Hunters.

"That's the last of 'em."

"Well done, brother!"

"Get Shattermaster back to the Edge. Send for Gobber, he can help."

"Where are you going?"

"I have a feeling Fishlegs is in trouble. Go, brother. Your dragon needs you." I took off and hurried away toward the mountain. I saw Fishlegs there with Meatlug and the baby.

"Hiccup, the baby has slowed the flow of lava. The volcano is finally stable." I nodded.

"Get the others. We need to make sure the island is out of danger." He hurried off and I pet Toothless, finally starting to calm down. "We'll be okay, bud. This nightmare looks like it's finally over."

"Are you sure about that, Hiccup?" I turned as I heard another voice. I glared at what I saw.

"Viggo." He had (Y/n) on Nightshade, using her own weapons to keep her hostage. Nightshade looked worried, but she couldn't make a move like this. "Let me guess, you want the Dragon Eye in exchange for (Y/n)."

"Though it sounds so much colder when you say it like that. But, yes." I glared at him. I knew I couldn't trust you. "While I do appreciate your assistance in putting brother in his rightful place, I must insist that you return it to where it belongs. With me!" He growled, holding the weapon closer to (Y/n)'s throat. She gasped and I could see the fear in her eyes. I felt my own heart skip a beat. No, I can't let anything hurt her. I can't lose her! But... I pulled out the Dragon Eye.

"Hiccup, no!" She called out and Viggo held the weapon closer to silence her, the blade ever so slightly digging into her skin. I saw tears of pain in the corners of her eyes. "Please..." She begged me, whispering as loud as she could since she didn't dare speak normally. I heard her voice crack though. I broke my heart and it sent terror through my body, though I fought hard not to show it.

"Come, now. Are you really going to sacrifice your future or the wonderful years you have ahead of you for that?" He asked me. I paused. I glared at the Dragon Eye as I finally understood. I don't care about you anymore. You're not worth everything I already have with her. With the love of my life!

"Wow, Viggo. Well, I guess when you put it that way...no, I'm NOT!" I shouted, chucking the Dragon Eye toward the volcano. It bounced and fell into the lava as Viggo chased after it.

"No! NO!" I glared at him and he glared at me. Suddenly, the ledge started to crack and break. I gasped as it all happened so fast. "Ah! Hiccup!" He called before he fell. I raced over and saw that he was gone. I stood up, my heart heavy.

"Viggo...it didn't have to end this way..."

"Hiccup?" I turned as I heard the same soft and sweet voice that I loved so much. "A-are you alright?" I nodded.

"Yeah. I'll be fine." She looked down at the lava below.

"It's...it's over...isn't it?" She asked. I took her hands, pulling her away from the ledge.

"Yes. It's over." I told her. I cupped her cheek, wiping the few lingering tears away with my thumb. "Are you okay?" She swallowed thickly lifting her chin so I could see her neck. The scratch wasn't deep, but it was enough to draw blood. I leaned in, kissing it softly. I felt her tense with a gasp before she relaxed into me.

"Hiccup..." Her voice came out breathy and heavy as if she was under some sort of trance. Then, I heard something I wasn't expecting. "I'm sorry." I pulled back, confused. "I know I should've listened to you. You lead us and I...I lost sight of that. I shouldn't have let our relationship or my personal feelings get in the way of that. It won't happen again."

"Just promise me you won't stop telling me what you're thinking. (Y/n), I rely on you. It's what makes us, well, us. Deal?" I held out my hand to her. You smiled.

"Deal." She grabbed it and pulled me forward. She kissed me full force and I kissed back, longing for her just as much as she was for me. We pulled apart and I heard a gasp. The entire gang was there and they'd all seen it. We both smiled, knowing it was out in the open now.

"This..."

"Changes-"

"Everything!"

"Wait, does this mean you're not dying?" Tuff asked. We both looked at each other as they ran over for a group hug. "Bring it in for the real one, Hiccup!" I laughed.

"Took you long enough, man!" Arrow said, punching my shoulder. I chuckled, rubbing my shoulder.

"Okay, gang. Once more around the island. Let's make sure the Edge is secure." We all headed over to our dragons.

"Hiccup, I was thinking I might have a way to help with this gambling problem. Now, it's gonna take some time. There's like, I don't know, 10 to 12 steps, I'll finish it but-"

"For the last time, what are you guys talking about?" I asked, laughing a little as (Y/n) laughed beside me. I held her hand as we walked together. We all took off to check over the Edge and I gladly kept holding her hand as we flew side by side. Things are finally turning out right.
