The door burst open. Everyone was startled from the sudden event. Especially, since everyone was completely silent for a few moments.
There stood two men. One of the two had copper-brown hair and was slightly shorter than the other boy. The other was a brunette who had both Asian and Western facial features.
"Your diva, Boo Seungkwan, has arrived. Good afternoon, everyone." The copper-haired boy said, waving his hand, miss universe style.
"Hi, I'm Vernon." The other boy said in English, waving, but not in the same way that the copper-haired boy did. "Seungkwan, I'm sorry, but I don't get why we're doing this."
"Because we need to stand out among everyone else." Seungkwan explained.
"Why though? And why do I have to use my English name, when everyone calls me by my Korean name?" The brunette asked, rubbing his temple.
(Vernon's Korean name is Hansol.)
"Because it sounds cooler that way. It's unique. What do you not get about that?" Seungkwan said, making multiple gestures with his hands, too many to count and too quick to see. The sass meter was exploding.
Seungkwan coughed. "Anyways, so..."
Before he could say more, everyone stood up to greet the two boys.
"Seungkwan, you barely changed!" Jeonghan placed his hand on the boy's back, repeatedly patting him.
"Hyung, you literally look almost the same as back when we were in high school. At the very least, my hair color is different, but yours is the exact same." Seungkwan let out a laugh, covering his mouth with his hand.
Jeonghan flipped his hair. "You mean, I still look pretty, as I always do."
"Wow, I can't even disagree on that."
Chan scanned the Seungkwan from head to toe. "He did change, but for the worse. He was already annoyingly loud, but he got even louder."
Seungkwan raised his hand, threatening Chan. "Lee Chan, I am going to smack your face if you keep talking."
Jisoo went to the other boy, reaching out for a bro-fist. "Vernon, dude! What's up?"
"Joshua-hyung!" Hansol responded with a bro-fist. "All good. You?"
(Jisoo's English name is Joshua or sometimes called Shua.)
"Been great."
The two boys were conversing in English. Everyone else kept quiet, staring at the two of them.
"Let's pretend that we understand them." Seungkwan said, sarcastically. "How are you? Oh, really? I'm fine, thank you." He said sarcastically in English, as if reciting from a basic English language book.
"Oh, sorry." Jisoo tapped Hansol's shoulder.
"Jun, congratulations, by the way!" Hansol went over to hug the Chinese boy.
"Thanks, Hansol."
The two broke off from the hug and it was now the other boy's turn.
"Jun, congrats! I always knew you'd be the first one to get married out of all of us!" Seungkwan said, patting the boy in the back while on a hug.
"Really?" Junhui's eyes widened.
Seungkwan broke off from the hug. "No, of course not. It's called sarcasm. You don't know that? You used to have a great sense of humor."
"Hey!" Junhui lightly hit Seungkwan on the shoulder.
"Ouch!" Seungkwan acting as if it actually hurts. "Kidding."
"You're the one with bad humor." Junhui crossed his arms.
"OHHHH!!! BURN!" Everyone said loudly in unison.
"Whatever." Seungkwan scoffed "I'm not even gonna..."
Seconds later the laughter died down.
Wonwoo checked his phone.
Jun noticed Wonwoo checking for the time. "What time is it?"
"2:30 PM"
"2:30 PM... and Hao..." Junhui facepalmed. "Minghao still isn't here." He started breathing heavily.
Mingyu pat the boy in his shoulder. "Hey, there's 30 minutes left. There's still time."
"There's only 30 minutes left." Junhui retorted, emphasizing 'only'.
"Hey, I know you don't like what's going on right now, but Minghao doesn't either." Seungkwan said, the volume of his voice increasing.
"Seungkwan." Jeonghan tried to grab Seungkwan's arm, signaling him to stop.
"What?" Junhui slowly lifted his face up. "What do you mean?" He said in a deeper tone.
"He-"
"-He wouldn't want to be late either." Wonwoo cut him off. "Minghao wouldn't want to be late either."
The fact that Wonwoo was the one saying it somehow reassured Junhui. He thought that Wonwoo wouldn't lie about it.
Probably.
Junhui eventually let the matter go. He sat back down to the couch and let out a sigh.
Wonwoo stepped up. "Seungkwan, can we talk outside?"
The two boys exited the room, leaving everyone else back in the state of awkward silence. Frankly, everyone was tired of the silence. If they had a choice, they'd have fled the room along with the two boys. It was heavy, almost suffocating. No one knew what to say or do. As much as comforting Junhui would have been the logical choice, guilt and sympathy had stopped them from doing so. Sympathy towards someone else. However, they knew that as much as they were feeling this, they couldn't leave Junhui there all alone.
Junhui didn't know anything.
And no one could tell him anything.
"Where's Minghao? Did he tell you anything?" Seungkwan whispered loudly, but looking around, trying to make sure no one else hears.
"We met up a few days ago, but..." Wonwoo uttered.
"But where is he? There are only 30 minutes left until the wedding starts. Actually, you know what? I wouldn't even blame him if he decides not to come." Seungkwan crossed his arms.
Wonwoo sighed. "Seungkwan."
"Yeah, I know, but still. He... Minghao's gone through enough." Seungkwan looked down on the floor. "More than enough."
"I know." He replied quietly. "I do know, but still... Jun..."
"Of course, I'll be here for Junhui. He doesn't even know anything about it. No one ever told him-
"-And it's not our place to tell him." Wonwoo glared at Seungkwan, warning him.
Seungkwan scratched the back of his head, annoyed. He was irritated. He was upset.
A part of him was upset at Junhui and the other part thought that it wasn't right to be upset at him.
After all, Junhui didn't exactly do anything wrong.
But he didn't exactly do anything right either.
What was the 'right' thing to do even?
There was nothing he could have done.
Because there was nothing that he had known.
Seungkwan and Wonwoo weren't too sure what to do.
Neither did anyone.
And neither did Junhui, who was now trapped in his own thoughts.
They were all just there, panicking deep inside, while all the other guests in the churchhall were either chattering away or were getting bored.
There was nothing they can do, other than to wait.
To wait and see if Minghao comes.
To wait and see how things will unravel.
And to be there when things do.
