Her, too

Chapter Eighteen

October 25, 2014

The sun blared through the curtains in her bedroom. Momentarily, her eyes opened from the shine, annoying her. Why does it have to shine so bright? Bey looked down to see hands wrapped around her body. They were dark, and she held her breath. She'd had the best dream in the entire world. It was one that she really loved.

Shawn had remembered her. Granted, it was during sex, but it didn't matter to her. All that mattered was that their memories remained with him. She turned around to face Shawn. He was sleeping, but she noticed that he was very protective over her even in his sleeping state. No matter how many times she tossed and turned, his grip remained the same. She couldn't count the number of times that she knew that he had awakened after she had moved around in the bed.

She stroked his face with the back of her hand, thankful that it was Saturday.

"It's too early," he mumbled, causing her to laugh a bit. Her face buried into his chest.

"Sorry," she said softly.

Shawn kissed her forehead. "It's fine. How'd you sleep?"

The question wasn't a question that she really had thought about. "Great. I had a dream about you.."

"What about me?"

Bey smiled. "You remembered me."

Shawn looked at her for a moment. "That wasn't a dream, baby."

"Grapes and wine?"

"And more sex," he added amusingly.

"Ugh," she groaned as she laid out in his arms. She knew that she needed to get the Plan B pill, and quick. The last thing she needed was another baby. She wanted to get used to Tally first. She needed to see how she could balance having a child and a career.

"What?" Shawn asked her after a while.

"I need to get up and go to the store."

He frowned. "For?"

"Plan B," she responded before trying to get out of the bed. Her legs were sore. Her entire body was sore. She hadn't felt this feeling in a long time, and she appreciated it.

"Come shower with me," she told him as she leaned over the bed. Shawn tilted his head with a smirk. He knew that just because his memory was back, that didn't mean that everything was fine with them. He still hurt her, and seeing that in his face wasn't a good sight for him.

He climbed out of the bed and helped her to the shower. Their hands wouldn't allow them to just clean their bodies. They both had to touch. It was an "in the moment" thing, but they were both snapped out of it when the doorbell rang. Bey frowned at that immediately. She wasn't expecting any guests, and hated when someone showed up without a notice. She got out of the shower and immediately grabbed her robe. She dried herself as quick as possible before heading to the door.

Seeing Naomie there with Tally, Bey couldn't have been any more confused.

"Uh..."

"Good morning," Naomie said happily.

"Morning. Hey, baby girl," Bey greeted.

"Can we come in?"

Bey stepped aside and looked at Naomie nervously. What was she doing here? The last thing she needed was for Shawn and Natalia to meet.

"I know you're wondering why I'm here, but remember Natalia will be in your possession to keep. That means that she may get sick, and you may have to drop everything to attend to her. You may be at work, something happens, and you have to be with her. Basically unexpected things happen, like today. You'll bring her back thirty minutes before curfew."

"Thanks for the rules? Do you have her car seat?" Bey asked as she picked Natalia up. Like normal, she began playing with Bey's hair.

"Yeah, I'll go get it," Naomie said with a warm smile.

Bey watched her leave the house, and sighed. "Are you hungry, baby?"

"Yes," Tally answered innocently.

Scream is what she wanted to do at this point. Maybe she should've known that this was going to happen, but today? Today of all days? Naomie put the car seat in the house, and left. Bey immediately took Natalia to her room.

"Give me one second, okay? Play with your toys," Bey said while pointing to the toy bin.

Happily, Natalia complied. Bey exited and went to see Shawn in her closet. He still had clothes over at her house.

"Who was that?" He asked.

"You have to leave," Bey said quickly.

Shawn smirked. "Just like old times. We fuck and you kick me out."

"Shawn, it's not"

"It's fine. I'm used to it," he said as he looked around for his shoes. Bey watched him attentively before she could hear noise at the door. She looked over and saw Natalia peeking inside the room.

"Wook, Mommy!" She said as she held up the doll that was in her hand.

Shawn immediately turned to face the little girl, before looking at Bey. He was shocked. He had heard about the little girl from Kim, but he had never seen her. He'd even written a note for Bey in a book that Kim gave him.

"I see it, baby," Bey said happily as she picked Tally up. There was honestly no use in hiding her now. She had simply invited herself into the room.

"I'll leave," Shawn said immediately while grabbing Kanye's car keys. Bey swallowed hard, because they didn't even have a chance to talk, honestly.

She watched as he began leaving. "All I need to know is if you support me or not..."

Shawn stopped dead in his tracks at that. He knew it was bound to come out, but he didn't expect it to be now. "Yes," Shawn said before turning the doorknob and exiting the house.

Bey released a deep breath before looking at Tally.

"Who that?"

"A friend. What do you want to eat?" Bey asked before remembering that she needed to go to Walgreens. After a night of sex with no condom used, she would need the Plan B pill. The last thing she needed was two children in a two bedroom house. It wouldn't work.

"You wanna go to IHOP?" She asked her.

"Yess!" Tally exclaimed. Bey sat her down in her bed before looking through her closet. Like always, Tally found interest in her phone. One of these days, Bey would find herself locked out of her phone. Sighing, she decided to put on an ankle length dress with heels. She had always wanted to be one those mothers that still wore heels.

"Yo pone winging!" Natalia said while innocently holding up her phone. Bey turned around and smirked.

"Answer it," she told her as she watched Tally press the green button.

"Hewwoo?"

"Hey sweetie! How are you?" Bey could hear Kim. Bey thought that it was cute.

"Awight."

Kim giggled. "May I speak to your mommy?"

"Nooo," she whined.

Bey smirked before taking the phone from her gently. "Hey, ma'am."

"Hey. She's so adorable!"

"I know."

"How are you feeling from last night?"

"Tired and sore," Bey told her honestly. One thing she didn't do was hide much from Kim.

"From?"

"Shawn came over."

"Oh. Ew!"

They both laughed. "But he remembers..."

"He remembers?"

"Yes."

"How do you know?"

"Because only two people in this world know what I enjoy after sex, and I'm pretty sure he hasn't spoken to Idris."

"Hmm. Well where is he?"

"He just left. Natalia was dropped off unexpectedly, so I had to make him leave."

"You kicked him out?!" She practically yelled.

Bey winced as she removed the phone from her ear. "Not like that!"

"Uh, there's no other way, Bey."

"Regardless, he saw her, so it really doesn't matter."

"Awee. Did y'all talk?"

"In depth? No, but he said that he supports my decision."

"Of course that precious face will make him change his mind."

Bey giggled. "Anyways! I have to go to the store."

"Oh wait! I called to invite you and Solange to my pre Thanksgiving dinner."

"What in the world is a pre Thanksgivings dinner, Kim?"

"Obviously a dinner before Thanksgiving. I thought you were an English teacher?"

Bey laughed. "Okay, when?"

"The twenty first at my house. I'm telling you now that Christina is invited. This is a dinner I have every year with my friends."

Bey sighed. She truthfully didn't have a problem with Christina, she never really did. But, she didn't wish to make the dinner awkward by being in her presence, especially with Shawn around.

"Alright, I'll think about it," Bey told her truthfully. The only thing she could do was think about it. Thankfully, Kim accepted the answer, and they were able to get off the phone. Bey grabbed whatever else she needed and left with Tally. She made sure to put her car seat in the car.

Before they went to IHOP, Bey went to Walgreens for her Plan B pill. She didn't have time for two children. Tally sat in the backseat and sang all the way to IHOP. Bey couldn't help but laugh, because she didn't know how to pronounce majority of the songs and she surely didn't know what she was saying.

"You wanna sit by me or over there?" Bey asked once the waitress showed them their seats.

"Here," Tally said, meaning across from Bey. Bey helped her into the seat and sat across from her. The waitress handed her a coloring sheet and crayons before dismissing herself.

Bey's eyes scanned the menu, while Tally didn't have a care in the world. She didn't have to worry about ordering or paying. All of her worries were into finishing her picture. The waitress soon came over to ask for their orders. Bey ordered orange juice and the ham and egg melt. For Natalia, she ordered orange juice and the Create a Face pancake.

"Wook!" Tally said happily as she held up the picture that she had colored. Bey smiled.

"It's beautiful!"

"Tank you!"

"You're welcome, baby. Are you gonna eat all your food?"

Tally tilted her head.

"Are you gonna eat all your nom nom?"

Tally smiled before nodding and turning her attention back to her picture. Bey occupied by updating her Facebook that housed many of her old students. She thanked them, and promised to upload the pictures from the shower. Kim was supposed to be sending them to her.

Bey's plan was to simply make the day about Tally. She didn't really have a choice, but she wanted to make the best of it. No one came before Natalia.

Shawn knocked on Christina's door, happily. He hadn't talked to her all day, but couldn't wait to tell her that he had remembered everything. Leaving Bey's house was probably the best thing. Her little girl was so precious. She almost looked like Bey. He wasn't lying when he said that he supported. He got to know her on a different level lately.

"You could've called," Christina scolded as she opened the door and moved out the way.

"I apologize, Grinch. Did I wake you?"

"Yes, Camel, you did."

Shawn laughed in his signature laugh as he closed the door behind him and followed her to the living room.

"Why are you here?"

"Because I have news for you."

"Did you hit the lottery?"

Shawn frowned. "No."

"Get a new car?"

"No."

"Hmm.."

"Can you just let me say it?"

Christina rolled her eyes and curled up on the couch, and looked to Shawn. "Speak."

"I remember everything."

"You're a fucking liar," she said bluntly, causing Shawn to laugh.

"No!"

"No my ass! You didn't remember shit the last time we spoke! You told me you were going to call me back last night, and now you show up with your memory? Please enlighten me!"

"I'd rather not," he said shyly.

"And why not?"

"Don't think you wanna know."

Christina's eyes narrowed at her ex husband. "Spill it."

"I went to see Bey."

"So seeing her brought your memory back?"

"No.."

"Then what, Shawn?!" She was growing impatient. This was interesting to her, and she wanted to know everything.

"We had sex."

Christina was silent for a moment. "So sex brought your memory back."

"I don't think it was just sex.."

Christina's eyebrow raised in suspicion.

"She threw it back and...where's Ashlyn?"

Christina laughed. Their relationship wasn't like a normal ex husband and wife relationship would be. Before even dating, the two were best friends. Throughout the entire relationship, that never changed. It was like best friends, but with romantic things. A marriage and baby were produced. That would probably be why Christina was able to move on quickly. She knew that her relationship with Shawn would never change. Yes, he hurt her, but in the end was able to be honest. Flat out telling her that he loved Bey was a big step for her. Her wanting to fight Bey that day was simply misplaced anger. At that time, she wanted to fight Shawn, not Bey.

"She's a bit sick, which is why I was trying to sleep now."

"Been up all night?"

Christina nodded her head.

"Alright, go upstairs and go to sleep, Mommy."

"Why?"

"Because I'm going to stay and give you the day off."

"No such thing."

"It is now. Daddy is here. You've been dealing with my memory loss and our child, let me handle it."

"Are you sure, Shawn?"

"Yes, go!"

Christina eyed him for a moment. Who was she to pass up an off day? A damn fool. She wasted no time getting off the couch and going upstairs to her bedroom.

Shawn remained downstairs to watch television until Ashlyn woke up. Christina deserved herself a free day. If he was lucky, she'd go out and pamper herself or do whatever girls did. He could handle his own child.
