Duke thrust open the doors from the garden in an outrage. "Never have I been so humiliated!" He pouted, storming past Solomon.

"Wait! You're not leaving so soon...!" He called out, afraid that this suitor would run away too.

Duke, from behind, had a hole in his pants. "Good luck marrying him off!"

Solomon sighed, then huffed. "Yugi...why do you do this?"

In the garden, Yugi sat on the edge of the fountain, watching the fish in the water.

"Yugi!" Solomon called out, walking toward him. "Yugi-"

A ferocious Kuriboh rolled in front of him, trying to growl. From it's mouth hung a piece of Duke's pants.
"So..it was you!" He was in a mini tug-a-war with a hairball and only managed to tear off a piece of the Duke pants.
"Yugi! I told you, you could have a pet if you could keep it from eating people's pants!"

"Grandpa, Jaden was just playing with him!" (Guys, you don't understand: I'm too lazy to actually make Jaden a character. And because he's a Kuriboh...he's a Kuriboh. Not exactly Jaden, but a Kuriboh named Jaden. Sorry viridianasovari, this is as far as I'll go.) Yugi squished the kuriboh's face and cooed. "Weren't you, Jaden? You were just playing with that self absorbed Prince Duke, weren't you?" He giggled, then caught his grandpa's glare. Then, he cleared his throat and looked away awkwardly.

"Yugi..." Solomon sighed, sitting beside him. "You know what the law says. You must be-"

"-married to a prince or princess by my next birthday. I know, Grandpa. You've told me at least twenty times this week." Yugi frowned and sighed. "The law is wrong."
He opened the bird cage and cradled a dove in his hands. "If I do marry," he pat the bird's head. "I want it to be for love."

"Yugi, it's not just the law..." Solomon tried to be patient with him. "I'm not going to be around forever...if I'm lucky..." He took the bird from Yugi's hands and put it back in the cage. "But I want to make sure that you're cared for...provided for."

"Please, try to understand." Yugi walked back to the fountain side. He played with the fish and swirled his finger around in the water. "I've never done a thing on my own! I've never even had any real friends!"
Jaden growled, and Yugi sighed and smiled. "Except you, Jaden."
Yugi pointed to the large stone wall. "I've never even been outside the palace walls!"

"Yugi, you're not supposed to go out there. You're a prince!"

Yugi frowned and swiped at the water. "Then maybe I don't want to be a prince anymore!"

Solomon made a frustrated noise, and got upset that he wasn't having a heart attack. He got up to leave, and said to Jaden, "Ra forbid you have any grandchildren!"

Yugi watched him leave, and he crossed his arms. "Damn these rebellious teenage hormones!" He pouted.

He looked at the birdcage, and saw the caged doves. "I'm kinda like those birds." Yugi said, and walked over to them. "They're trapped inside, and don't have any control over their lives." He huffed, and said, "Well, not if I can help it!"

Pulling open the birdcage door, Yugi smiled and watched as the birds took flight and flew away to freedom.

Yugi wished he could be a bird.

Well...that ending was random. And this chapter was short. But that is okay. Because short means you can go do whatever you were doing. Thank you for your time.
