The day of the gig, Gerard went round to pick Frank up so that Mikey could finish his princess make-up without distraction from his big brother. He shuffled up to the door and rang the doorbell, also knocking for good measure.
"Hey Geebear." Frank giggled when he opened the door. Gerard flushed.
"G-Geebear?"
"Yeah! It's my new cute nickname for you." Frank beamed. Gerard rolled his eyes.
"Come on. Let's get going. Maybe Mikey's finally finished getting his make-up on."
Frank giggled and linked arms with him, walking beside Gerard. The older male expected him to bounce along and drag him, but instead the small boy walked slowly, a sudden sadness inscribed in his features.
"About yesterday..." Frank began with a sigh. "I-I'm sorry."
Gerard bit his lip. The previous day, Frank had tried to kiss him, again, and it had failed, again. It was all Gerard's fault. He had gone all shy and nervous, and he'd moved away from Frank. The broken look on the usually ecstatic boy's face had killed him. "No, Frank, don't be sorry... I just got real nervous. I didn't wanna mess up..."
Frank sniffled. "R-Really?"
"Yeah. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset y-" Gerard was cut off by Frank's lips. He squeaked and froze up for a few seconds before relaxing. Frank grabbed his shirt and pulled him in closer, and Gerard began moving his lips against Frank's faster as the kiss quickly became more heated.
"Well what do we have here?" A voice purred from behind them. Gerard leaped back, his cheeks burning. He gazed behind him and saw Mikey, glaring at his little brother coldly.
"N-Not cool, Mikey! I thought you were doing your princess make-up?!" Gerard spluttered.
"I was, but I finished and came to meet you half way." Mikey chuckled. "I'm so glad I did now."
Gerard hid his face behind his thick black fringe, completely embarrassed. Frank, however, seemed completely unfazed. "Trying to impress Mr Bryar, are we?"
"Shut up, Frank," Mikey mumbled a hint of a blush in his cheeks. Gerard gasped.
"I knew it! I knew you liked him!" He gloated, glad for the change of subject. Mikey glared.
"S-Stop it, Gee!"
"Only if you don't talk about what you just saw!"
"Fine!" Mikey snapped, folding his arms and huffing angrily. Gerard ruffled his hair and grinned. "Hey!" The younger Way whined. "I just spent half an hour on that!"
Gerard let out a fake exasperated sigh. "Let's just go! Ray will kick our asses!"
-----
When they arrived at the venue, Ray stormed over. "It's 5:45! The gig starts in just over an hour! Where have you been?!"
Gerard smiled guiltily. "Sorry. Princess Mikey over there took about ten days to get ready."
Mikey snorted indignantly. "I had to look perfect!"
"For the gig or for Bob?" Ray smirked. Mikey blushed furiously, about to snap a reply until Bob came over.
"Did I hear my name?" The blonde frowned. Mikey chewed his lip.
"N-No!"
"It was nothing. We should practice." Ray shrugged. He liked to tease, but he was still a nice guy. Gerard nodded in agreement with his friend and looked around for a microphone while the others set their instruments up. He saw one and bounded over to get it, bumping into someone in the process. He gasped and looked up at the guy he'd bumped into.
"S-Sorry!" He blurted, blushing. The guy looked down at him and smiled sweetly. He was a little taller than Gerard with very perfected hair, his fringe cut just above his eyes, which we a pretty brown colour.
"It's alright." He chuckled. "Did you want that microphone? I was gonna grab it, but you can have it. I'll find another." He handed Gerard the mic.
"Th-Thanks. Who are you?" Gerard felt his cheeks burn hotter as he took in the guy's features more.
"I'm Brendon Urie. From your opening band." Brendon grinned, flashing a row of perfectly straight clean white teeth.
"Oh... Panic! At The Disco, right?" Gerard giggled girlishly, sorting his hair out absentmindedly.
"Yep." Brendon paused. "Say, you wanna go for a cigarette when you're not busy?"
"Uh, sure... I just gotta practice. Meet me out back in twenty minutes?"
"We gotta practice too, so sure. See you then." Brendon winked and went back to finding a microphone. Gerard stood staring for a few seconds before smiling a little and going to practice.
"Are you okay, Gee?" Frank asked when they finished practicing, seeing him eager to get outside. Gerard bit his lip.
"Yeah. Just gonna get some air." He lied. Why am I even lying?
"Oh, alright. Do you want me to come with you?" Frank offered with a loving smile, obviously wanting an excuse to be alone with his raven-haired crush. Gerard shook his head.
"No... I'll be alright." Gerard shrugged. "I won't be long. Why don't you come hang with me while the support band plays?" he suggested, not wanting to totally reject Frank.
Frank smiled sadly. "Uh... alright, I guess... I won't hold you back." he shuffled away to go to talk to Ray. Gerard frowned and went outside, where Brendon was leaning back against the wall and sparking up a cigarette. Gerard joined the taller teen happily, also resting back against the wall so he was facing the windows of the venue. Brendon grinned and handed him a cigarette and a lighter.
"Thanks." Gerard lit the cigarette and took a long drag. The pair chatted and laughed together for a while before Brendon was called in for his set.
"I'll see you later, kay?" Brendon grinned, kissing Gerard's cheek and pressing a piece of paper into his hand. He winked like before and went into the venue, leaving Gerard standing there staring at the paper with pink cheeks and a big smile on his fast, unbeknownst to a broken-hearted Frank watching him out of the window.
