"IS THIS WHAT I THINK THIS IS?" I asked, looking at Ross and Lisa.

"Campbell, we want to adopt you," Ross said as tears built up in my eyes.

"Really?" I asked, looking over at the boys.

"Of course, Cam. We always wanted a sister, and here you are. You are an amazing sister," Gaberial said, and the boys nodded.

"You are always there to help us, and without you I would never had the courage to talk to Jordan tonight," Micheal told me.

"And is it wasn't for you, we would never have met Damon and Stefan Salvatore," Gavin joked, making everybody laugh.

"And we don't want to lose you," Nick finished.

"You're family now, and whether you like it or not, you are stuck with us," Elliot told me, making me smile.

"I love you guys," I said, wiping a few stray tears away.

"We love you too," Gavin replied.

"Yes! We are so happy for you Campbell!" Madison exclaimed, hugging me.

Then the rest of the girls hugged me. Then the boys along with Lisa and Ross.

After everybody hugged me, Lisa said,"All we have to do now is go get a signature from your father."

My eyes widened,"My father? Why?"

Everybody fell silent, and Ross cleared his throat.

"Well, since you are not a legal adult if your father is released from prison within the next year then you can take you away from us. But if he signs this paper then he gives all parent rights, and he can't take you away," Lisa explained, and I nodded.

"When do we have to do this?" I asked her.

"Next Saturday," she answered.

"Oh," was all I could say.

I was going to see my father next Saturday. Wow.

"Let's not worry about that right now. Right now, go and enjoy your birthday," Ross told me.

"Okay."

And that's what I did. The group and I had fun at the club, and we had cake. I opened the rest of my gifts, thanking everybody. I enjoyed my birthday like a regular teenage girl.

By the time I got home it was 1:30 in the morning, and I had to be up and ready at 5:45 a.m.

I stripped out of my dress, and I changed into a pair of gray sweatpants and one of Brent's hoodies. Then I wiped all of my makeup off, and I got into my bed.

As I was plugging up my phone, I thought to myself. Was I ready to see my father? I mean it has been five years, but still.

I looked up at the ceiling, and I stared at it until I drifted off to sleep.

••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Beep. Beep. Beep.

Groaning, I turned my alarm off. I rubbed my eyes before throwing my blanket off of me.

The sun wasn't up yet, so it was extremely dark in my room. I walked into my bathroom. I did my business, and I brushed my teeth. Then I chose my outfit, remembering that Brent said to wear something comfy.

I chose a pair of black ripped jeans, a white hoodie, and a light washed jean jacket. I changed into the outfit, putting deodorant on with it, before moving onto my hair.

It was still wavy from last night so I just brushed through it, leaving it down. Then I walked out of my bathroom, and I slipped on my white converses.

Lastly I put my necklace on before grabbing my phone. I quietly left my room, and I walked downstairs. Lisa and Ross already know that I'm going with Brent this morning so they left me a key to the house by the front door.

I grabbed it, and I opened the door. Walking outside, I shivered from how cold it was. I looked in front of me to see Brent leaning against his car.

"Morning," I said as I walked over to him.

"Good morning, Princess," he replied before he kissed me on my lips.

When we broke apart, I walked to the passenger door, and I opened it. Brent did the same and we both got into the car.

"So where are we going?" I asked him when he started driving away from the house.

"Well I was thinking breakfast first then I want to take you to our hangout spot," Brent answered which surprised me.

"Mmph," I said, making him raise an eyebrow.

"What?" He asked, playfully.

"It's just that you didn't say it's a surprise. You actually answered me," I told, truthfully.

He chuckled,"There is a surprise which is your presents, but I'm going to give you that at our hangout spot."

"Ah, so there is a surprise," I said before we laughed.

We listened to a couple of songs on the radio before Brent pulled into a diner. The diner was old fashion with red booths and neon signs everywhere. There was a jukebox in the diner, playing an Elvis song.

"Wow, this place is so cool," I told Brent when we walked inside.

"Just wait until you taste the food here," Brent said before a woman came up to us.

"Back again, I see," The woman said to Brent.

Her light brown hair was in a tight bun, and her brown eyes were tired. She looked like she was in her mid thirties.

"You know it, Mrs. Linda," Brent replied with a charming smile.

"Sit anywhere you like, dear," Mrs. Linda replies before walking away.

Brent led me to a booth, and we sat down on either side.

"Now What can I get you two to drink?" Mrs. Linda asked, handing us menus.

"Um, a coffee," Brent and I replied at the same time.

Mrs. Linda looked at us with wide eyes before smiling.

"Alrighty then. I'll be right back with the coffees," she said before walking away from our table.

"Mrs. Linda is a family friend. She is like an aunt to me," Brent said as I looked at the menu.

"She's nice," I said, flipping the menu over.

"Here is two coffees," Mrs. Linda said, putting a coffee in front of me and Brent.

"Thank you," I thank her while she got her notepad out of her apron.

"What can I get y'all this morning?" Mrs. Linda asked, ready to write anything down.

"I want my usual please," Brent said, making Mrs. Linda smile. Then she turned to me.

"Um, let me get scrambled eggs, bacon, and one pancake," I told her while she wrote it down.

"Okay. It will be out in twenty," she said, taking our menus away.

When she walked off, I started to pour some sugar in my coffee.

"So I know a lot has happen in the last day, and I'm wondering if you're okay," Brent said, making me look up from my coffee.

"I'm fine. I'm getting adopted meaning that I have a family and nobody will be able to take me away," I answered him, putting the sugar back in it's spot.

"Okay, what about visiting your dad?" Brent asked.

"It's going to be awkward. I haven't seen him in five years, and the last time I saw him, we didn't end on a good note," I said, uneasy.

"Well if it makes you feel any better, Xander and I haven't made up since we fought. He can't even be in the same room as me," Brent said, pursing his lips.

"I'm sorry. So that means he was forced to come to your lacrosse game last night," I said, making Brent raise an eyebrow.

"What do you mean? Xavier wasn't there," Brent asked.

"He was sitting with your parents and Nessa. You didn't see him?"

Brent shook his head,"No. I saw my parents, Nessa, and you, but not him."

"Well, maybe, he's trying to make up for being a jerk," I replied as Mrs. Linda came up to us with our food.

"Here you guys go," she said, putting our food in front of us. "If you need anything just let me know."

"Thank you," Brent and I thanked her before she walked away.

"Let's talk about something else. You ready for soccer season?" Brent asked before taking a bite of his pancakes.

"More than ready. Practice is suppose to start in March," I said, cutting my eggs with my fork.

"I will be your number one fan," Brent said with a lopsided smile.

I gave him a small smile before eating my breakfast.

Twenty minutes later, Brent and I were stuffed with delicious food.

"That was so good," I said, finishing my coffee.

"Yep. Like usual," Brent agreed.

"Are you two ready for the check?" Mrs. Linda asked with a kind smile.

"Yes we are," Brent replied.

She gave him the check, and I looked at Brent.

"Remember when you agreed that I would pay for our next date?" I asked Brent who looked at me.

"But this is apart of your birthday present," Brent whined.

I sighed,"Fine you win this time. I'm going to at least pay the tip."

Brent nodded as I got the twenty dollar bill from my phone case. He paid for the food, and I left the twenty on the table.

"Bye, Mrs. Linda,"Brent said as he opened the door.

"Bye sweetie," Mrs. Linda replied before Brent walked out the door.

He held the door for me, and I walked out in the cold wind. Brent and I walked to his car, and we got in quickly since it was freezing outside because the sun wasn't up yet.

When Brent got back onto the road, I turned on the radio. I hummed along to the lyrics as Brent drove.

Ten minutes later, Brent parked his car. Woods were surrounding us, and I opened my door.

"Come on, we have to hurry before the sun rises," Brent said, locking his doors.

We enlaced our hands together before walking towards our spot. When we got there, the sun was coming up a little.

"Sit right here," Brent said, and we both sat down in the meadow.

I was wondering why he acting excited, but then I saw it. The sunrise. It was beautiful. There was pink, orange, red, and blue in the sky, and I smiled.

"It's beautiful," I commented, looking up at the sky.

"This is why I made you get up so early," Brent replied, making me laugh.

"It was totally worth it," I said in awe.

"Okay, now for your presents," Brent said, getting up from the ground.

He walked towards the picnic table, grabbing two presents. Then he sat down next to me, handing me a box. It was decorated in yellow and white wrapping paper.

I smiled before tearing the wrapping paper reveal a white box with gold ribbon around it.

"What is this?" I asked Brent who was watching me.

"Open it," he replied with a side smile.

I opened the box, and on the inside of the top part is a yellow piece saying May Your Birthday be Filled with Sunshines. In the bottom was yellow items like yellow Skittles, lotion, bath bombs, chapstick, etc.

"Aw!" I said, looking at Brent.

"You like it?" Brent asked me.

I nodded,"I love it. Thank you."

"No problem, sunshine. Here," Brent said, handing me an envelope.

I opened the envelope to see that it was a letter. I looked at Brent, and he nodded his head.

I grabbed the letter out of the envelope, unfolding it. At the top of the paper, it said 13 reasons why I love you.

I looked up at Brent and he smiled and said,"Go on read it."

1. I love that you always put others before yourself.
2. I love that you are kind.
3. I love that you make me laugh.
4. I love that you give the best hugs.
5. I love that you are strong.
6. I love that you make a cute pouty face.

7. I love that you have the most beautiful smile.
8. I love that you have a good taste in music/movies.
9. I love that you cuddle with me when you're scared.
10. I love that you dance with me.
11. I love that you eat sprinkles on any ice cream.
12. I love that I can come to you with anything.
13. I love that you see the best in me.

I love you Campbell West.

Tears built up in my eyes, and I looked up at Brent.

"I love you, Campbell. Hell, I fell in love with you the first time I saw you," Brent said.

I licked my lips before smiling. "I love you, too, Brent."

He gave me a huge grin before leaning in for a kiss. I kissed him back, happily. When we broke apart, Brent laid his back against the tree. He tapped the spot next to him, and I laid beside him.

He wrapped his arm around my shoulders, and I leaned against his chest. We watched the sun rise all the way, and I couldn't believe that this actually happened to me.

I have a family, friends, and a boyfriend who loves me.

Little did I know what was coming for me.
