Over the next few days I just go to my classes like normal and ignore Jake's actions even though it hurts. But when I wake up later than usual Thursday I rush into my first class and take my seat getting my things settled before looking up at the board reading what's written only to immediately freeze. Staring at the board in horror I see the words written partners and beside my name is none other than Jake's. Groaning I drop my head onto the desk with a loud thump. Jake is surprisingly quiet and I cautiously peek over at him. "Why aren't you complaining? I thought you'd make a bigger fuss than me by now." He gives me a slight look. "I already talked with the teacher about switching partners and she refused so I'm stuck with you." I frown slightly but decide to ignore it instead asking curiously. "What exactly are we doing?" He looks straight ahead tracing the cover of his math book. "We're using formulas and equations to build a little rollercoaster." I blink in surprise before a small smile appears on my face. "That's actually really cool." He looks over at me staring for a second before he seems to snap out of it and glares at me slightly. "Yeah well we're going to be paired together for a few weeks so you'll need a few days to come over to my house to help work on it." My eyebrows furrow in slight confusion for a second wondering why we're going to his house before deciding not to argue. "Alright. I'm free on weekends no matter what so that's usually the best time on my part." He gives a firm nod. "Alright weekends it is." Suddenly the bell rings and he gets up leaving the classroom but not before shoving a slip of paper on the desk in my direction. I grab the slip of paper only to see a phone number on it and I get my phone out putting the number in. By the time it's lunch time I go out to sit under the tree I always sit at and peacefully start to eat my lunch when suddenly a girl with red hair who others would find gorgeous but I see she's got an ugliness to her walks up to me I giving her a confused look. "Um can I help you?" She immediately glares at me. "Yeah stay away from Jake. He's going to be mine and I don't want you stealing him." I immediately raise an eyebrow at her. "First you don't have to worry because we're only partners on an assignment and he hates me. Second how exactly is he going to be yours when he doesn't even like you either? And third you can't exactly steal a person away if they don't have feelings for you because their heart will never be yours." She gapes at me for a second before looking pissed off. "You'll regret it if you don't stay away from him. He's mine and I'll make sure you and everyone in school knows it." Before I can say anything she storms off and I shake my head before finishing my lunch and head inside to find Teddy and Cedar to tell them about my encounter they promising that they'll look after Jake but I immediately feel a deep uneasiness in me.
