Danger Girl stood peering down into the manhole Kid Danger was in, watching as he swaddled a baby up. Captain Man slowly walked in their direction as sirens wailed around them.
"Hey!" Kid Danger exclaimed, "Hey, I got another one,"
Henry stood, revealing a baby wrapped in a patterned blanket.
Ray kneeled beside him and reached for the infant, "Aw, what a cute baby," he cooed standing, "Aw, aren't you a cute little guy?"
A nurse, who walked over, reached for the child.
"Here," Ray's baby talk settled.
Maebel stared at him incredulously before looking down at her sidekick, "Man, how many babies did she have down there?"
Henry looked to his feet, "I'm not sure. I'll check for more," he ducked again.
Ray knelt by his side once more.
"Hello?" Henry called out, "Are there anymore babies down here? Hello?"
Maebel looked up to the woman sitting on a barrel, pigging on cheese. She sighed and began walking over to her slowly.
"Ma'am," Maebel began, "can I talk with you?"
The woman shrugged, irritated, "What?"
"Could you stop eating the cheese for a minute?" Maebel scowled.
The woman sat the block of cheese next to her and gave the superhero her attention.
"Did you really think it was a good idea to crawl down into a sewer to give birth?" Maebel furrowed her eyebrows.
The woman stood, getting in Maebel's face, "That's how we do it where I come from,"
Maebel scrunched her face in disgust, "Where do you come from?"
"The sewer!" The woman yelled.
Maebel gagged at the smell of the woman's breath and moved back to her companions.
"Okay," Henry lifted an infant out of the manhole, "I think this is the last baby," he gently placed the child into the nurse's arms.
"Hey, kids, why don't you knock off and go home?" Ray shrugged, still kneeling next to Henry.
"You sure?" Henry asked crawling out of the sewer.
"Yeah, it's already past midnight and you and Maebel got school in the morning," Ray shrugged, following Henry's actions in standing.
"So, I'll meet you at the Man Cave?" Maebel looked to Ray.
Before Ray could answer, the woman let out a cry.
"Oh!" She gripped her side, "I think I'm going to have me another baby!"
"Oh no," Ray grumbled.
"Another one?" Henry gaped.
"I got to get back in that sewer," she started towards it.
Ray, Henry, and Maebel rushed to hold the woman back, struggling against the woman's refusal to give a normal birth.
***
Maebel sat on the couch next to Ray, who was reading a book about Cinematography, scrolling through her phone out of boredom. She looked up upon hearing the secret door opening.
Schwoz came bouncing out holding a potted yellow flower in his hands, "Hey, Ray, Maebel,"
Ray looked up to the foreign man.
Schwoz set the flower on the back of the couch and smiled at the two, "Sniff this flower,"
"No," Ray closed his book and dropped it on the couch.
"Alright," Maebel shrugged and stood to sniff it.
She smiled at the familiar scent. It was as if she were in a garden shop and all she smelt was the dull smell of pollen.
She hummed, "Hmm, smells nice. What is that, a Daffodil?" Jumping back at the sound of the flower exploding, "God dang it, Schwoz!" She growled.
Ray huffed next to her, the two shared a look. They both had brown soot covering their faces, their hair was blown back and was now laced with small, delicate yellow petals. Schwoz stood cracking up at their reactions.
Ray stood and pointed to his repairman, "You got problems,"
Screaming erupted from the elevator, the door opened, revealing Charlotte. Ray plopped onto the couch with a sigh.
Charlotte walked out, "Smells like something blew up in here,"
Schwoz chuckled evilly again.
"You're a sick person," Maebel narrowed her eyes at the man.
A ringing sounded throughout the Man Cave. Maebel looked to the control center to see Henry's name in big green letters.
"That's Henry, he wants to hologram chat," Charlotte pointed out.
Maebel wiped her nose and started toward the command pads, "I'll take it,"
Maebel clicked her boyfriends video up. Charlotte and Ray standing behind her.
"Hey, Hen, what's up?" Maebel asked the replica of him.
"Bad news, I can't come to work for the next two weeks," Henry shrugged.
"Okay," Ray shrugged.
Maebel furrowed her eyebrows at him.
"I'm really sorry, but I got grounded and my parents are only letting me go to school, that's it," Henry explained.
Schwoz bounced, "I volunteer to fill in as your sidekick,"
"No," Ray rejected.
"Come on," Schwoz pleaded, "We could be Captain Man, Danger Girl, and Schwozzam!"
"Gross," Ray groaned.
Schwoz grunted out of annoyance.
Ray turned back to Henry, "I'm sorry, kid, what were we talking about?"
"I was telling you that I'm grounded so I can't be yours and Maebel's sidekick for two whole weeks," Henry shrugged.
"Oh, yeah, bummer. I had an important job for you today," Ray sighed.
Henry smiled, "What?"
"There's this new barbecue place downtown, I was going to get you to pick me up a slab of ribs,"
Henry's smiled faltered.
"I'll order some ribs and have them delivered," Charlotte said pulling out her phone.
"Cool, later Henry," Ray reached for the end button.
"But, who's going to help you and Maebel fight crime while I'm grounded?" Henry stopped him.
Maebel smirked, "We can handle things,"
"Ray, you want beef ribs or pork?" Charlotte asked from the couch.
"Pork, Henry I gotta go,"
"But..."
"Bye, Henry!" Maebel beamed.

Maebel reached up and knocked on the glass, chuckling at the screech from Henry when she scared him. He jumped up to his loft and raised the window. Following after Charlotte, Maebel climbed in and smiled up at Henry.
"Hi," Charlotte greeted.
"Hey, what's up?" Henry asked, marching down the steps.
Charlotte and Maebel followed after their friend.
"Well, since you're grounded, Charlotte and I thought we'd bring you a little surprise," Maebel held up the white paper sack.
Henry took the sack from her hand and smiled, "From Yotally Togurt?"
"Mm-hmm," Maebel hummed and leaned against the stairs.
Henry pulled out the paper cup, "Aw, yeah, Fudge Blast," he sat on the chest at the end of his bed, "Thanks, guys,"
"Sure," the two girls smiled in response.
Charlotte plopped into the green armchair.
"So, what's been going on at work?" Henry asked, opening the frozen dessert.
"Oh, you know, I've been going through Ray's email," Charlotte dragged.
"I did some research on a few criminals," Maebel shrugged.
Charlotte stood and reached for the Yotally Togurt bag at Henry's feet, "Oh, and I went on patrol with Ray and Maebel,"
Henry froze, "You went where?"
"On patrol," Charlotte repeated.
Henry slowly stood, gaping at his friend gobsmacked.
"You know, how sometimes Ray and I just cruise around in the mancopter, making sure the city's okay," Maebel chuckled and shifted her position.
"You went up with Ray and Maebel in the mancopter?" Henry stepped closer to Charlotte.
"Yeah," Charlotte shrugged.
"That's my job," Henry defended.
Maebel furrowed her eyebrows.
"I know-"
"I'm Kid Danger," Henry gestured to himself.
Charlotte was confused, "I realize that,"
"Wow,"
"What?" Maebel leaned forward, getting into the conversation.
"Wow!" Henry fell onto the chest again.
"What?" Charlotte asked shrugging.
"I just never thought you'd try to steal my job," Henry looked back down to his yogurt.
Maebel raised her eyebrows in shock.
"Whoa, whoa there, munchy," Charlotte dropped the sack, "Ray asked me to go on patrol with them. And come on, you really think I'd try to replace you as Kid Danger?"
"Nah, you're right," Henry nodded.
"Thank you," Charlotte leaned next to Maebel.
"I could never be replaced by a girl," Henry took a bite of his treat.
Maebel and Charlotte stood simultaneously and glared down at the boy.
"What?" Henry stared back up at the two.
"A girl?" Charlotte gaped.
"Oh, I'm sorry," Henry shifted in his seat, "I meant young woman,"
"Same thing!" Maebel snapped at him.
Henry jumped back and rapidly glanced between them, "What's wrong? I was just saying that-"
Charlotte yanked the cup out of his hands, "Say, 'bye bye' to your Fudge Blast," she chucked the dessert out the window.
Henry's cries of protest weren't heard in the girls' ears.
"Later," Charlotte scoffed, climbing up the steps.
"Wait, don't just leave," Henry shrugged.
"You know, I wasn't trying to take your job before," Charlotte turned to look at him, "But maybe now I will," she started out the window.
Henry shrugged at his girlfriend for backup, Maebel simply shook her head and followed behind Charlotte.
"Aw, Maebel," Henry groaned while following them to the window and watching them climb down the tree, "Aw, that squirrel's eating my Fudge Blast!"
The squirrel squeaked in response.
"Quit that!" Henry groaned.
The elevator door slid open and Maebel and Charlotte marched out.
"Okay, nobody say anything to upset, Char," Maebel warned.
"We don't have time to upset her," Ray said, popping a gumball into his mouth.
"Uh-oh, what's wrong?" Charlotte looked up to her boss.
"There's an illegal pig farm on the south side of town," Schwoz said, typing on his pear pad.
"Illegal?" Maebel shrugged.
"Yep," Ray moved closer to the two girls, "There's a very bad pig farmer out there, and I'm going to make sure he goes wee wee wee all the way to jail,"
Maebel reached into her hoodie pocket and pulled out the glistening gum tube.
"I'll go with you two," Charlotte suggested.
"No, Charlotte, this is not just a routine patrol, this is a real crime situation and it could be dangerous," Ray moved to the other side of the girl.
"I get it," Charlotte watched him, "Let me fill in as yours and Maebel's sidekick,"
"You can't be my sidekick, you're a-"
"I'm a what?" Charlotte snapped.
Maebel leaned an elbow on her friends shoulder and raised an eyebrow at Ray, "She's a what?"
"You're... coming with us," Ray nervously said.
"Good," Charlotte turned to the repairman, "Schwoz, toss me Henry's backup gumball tube,"
"Oh, I don't know," Schwoz crossed his arms, "Maybe I'm not qualified to give gum to people,"
"Give her the gum!" Maebel jerked in his direction.
Schwoz grunted out of annoyance, and reached under the cabinet, pulling out a gumball tube.
Maebel took it and handed it to Charlotte, "Bubble time,"
The three chewed on the gum and blew, popping it, sending a flash of green and blue washing over them. When they transformed, Maebel glanced over at Charlotte and nodded at the sight of her in a Kid Danger persona.
"Let's go," Charlotte nodded and started toward the tubes.
"Wait for us," Ray called after her.
The three ran underneath their tubes and clicked their belt buckles, "Up the tube!" They ordered in unison.
The three got sucked up out of the Man Cave.
Maebel and Charlotte landed with a thud onto the covered floor of the Man Cave. Maebel scrunched her face up out of disgust at the smell of her friend. Charlotte was covered head-to-toe in pig slop. The three males, Schowz, Ray, and Henry, groaned out of revulsion at the girl. The two stepped down and faced the three.
Maebel moved next to Scwhoz, "And that's why we needed the tarp,"
Henry reached for a tissue and started to rub Charlotte's shoulder with it, "Here's a tissue,"
After a second, Charlotte snapped at him, "That's not helping!"
"Ooh, why are you so mad?" Schwoz teased.
"It's just a little pig slop," Ray snickered.
"I'm not mad about the pig slop," Charlotte shrugged, "I'm mad cause a friend of mine called me a job stealer, and he said I couldn't be sidekick because I'm a girl," Charlotte shot daggers at Henry.
"I changed it to young woman," Henry defended.
"Same thing!" Maebel shouted.
"Charlotte was not trying to steal your job," Ray reassured.
"I was," Schwoz nodded.
"He was," Ray shrugged.
"Well, I guess, since you rode a large pig, and tackled a farmer, I guess you can do my job," Henry looked down at the girl.
"Thanks," Charlotte wiped off some mud from her glove, "But, I don't want to do your job,"
"You don't?" Henry furrowed his eyebrows.
"No. I don't wanna be running after bad guys and evil criminals, fighting, and getting all disgusting," Charlotte shrugged.
"Hey," Maebel pouted.
"No offense," Charlotte quickly protected her words.
"I'll do it!" Schwoz beamed.
"Schwoz!" Henry yelled at the man angrily.
"Am I going to have to turn you over my knee?" Ray held his hand up, threatening Schwoz.
Schwoz backed up and cupped his butt with a terrified face, "No, no spanky,"
Ray retracted and turned back to the two friends.
"So, forgive me?" Henry asked.
"I will... after we hug," Charlotte smirked.
Ignoring the string of protests, Charlotte engulfed her friend in a bear hug and rocked them both back-and-forth, smearing the mud over the both of them.
Charlotte pulled back and glanced down at herself, "I'll be in the shower," she started to waddle away.
Maebel attempted to suppress her laughs. Henry turned and glared at her, than Schwoz, who was recording him.
"I'm just texting," Schwoz lied.
Schwoz's phone flashed a bright light.
"Please spank him," Henry turned to Ray.
"No, no, no," Schwoz bolted.
"Come here, Schwoz," Ray chased after him.
Maebel began to laugh harder, and even harder at Henry's face.
Henry inched closer the the girl, "You think I look funny?"
Maebel shook her head, "No not at all,"
"Oh yeah?"
Maebel yelped and began to run away, but was stopped by a pair of arms wrapping around her waist and pulling back.
"How about now? Is it funny?"
Maebel groaned and rocked back-and-forth with Henry as he hugged her.
"Nice and smelly," Henry squeezed her even tighter.
Henry began to laugh at the girl as she began to gag at the smell.
