Chapter 3: No One to Judge the Best

(Why does Satsuki need me right now? I'm not even in the actor's pool.

Did I do something? Did I break a rule?

Am I getting suspended or expelled from this club?!?!)-Ikaku's thought

"Ikaku get down here! I need to discuss something with you."-Satsuki

"O-ok. I'm coming down!

Catch ya later Suna."-Ikaku

"See ya later."-Nasuna

(Dang it! I couldn't say it to him again!

Ugh brain, stop getting so anxious every time.)-Nasuna's thought

I got down from the upper level of the auditorium and followed Satsuki to the actor's lounge. The actor's lounge has a TV, some couches, a desk, and a dining table.

"Sit on any couch you'd like.

For a person like you to hear this news, you need to be comfortable."-Satsuki

I sat on the couch next to the TV. Satsuki sat on the couch the exact opposite side from me. He gave me an extremely serious face.

"*Gulp.*

So what is the news?"-Ikaku

"Ok, so...

Shoida from our actors pool will be unable to attend to play his role as the evil knight at the spring play, The Faithful Deities, due to family reasons.

I needed someone to fill in that role. Shoida was relatively tall and his physique was well-built.

Looking at everyone in the drama club, you were the best fit by the farthest.

So, my request is,

could you fill in that role for the club?"-Satsuki

(WHAAT???? ME?!

WHY ME?!

Out of all the members of the drama club.

Why does it HAVE to be me?!??!

I have never even acted onstage in my life. There is just no way.)-Ikaku's thought

"B-but,

I have no actor's experience..."-Ikaku

"Great, you have these 4 weeks to prepare.

Don't disappoint me.

You're dismissed."-Satsuki

I walk out of the actors lounge and just feel even more depressed. I start walking back to the auditorium.

"Iku!"-???

"Huh?"-Ikaku

"It's me, Yorimu!

"Oh hey. I thought you were rehearsing with the other actors."-Ikaku

"We're done for the day and ready to head out,

but I saw you and Satsuki going into the lounge, so I got worried.

Nothing happened though, right?"-Yorimu

"Um, *Sigh.*

Satsuki assigned me Shoida's role because he'll not be able to attend the spring play."-Ikaku

"That's great! This will be your first time being able to perform onstage!"-Yorimu

"That's the issue. I don't have any experience as an actor.

I have never acted before,

but Satsuki expects me to learn how to act and play my part before the spring play."-Ikaku

"I still think it'd be fun to act with my best friend on stage.

Don't worry,

it'll be fun! Trust me.

Let's start practicing next week together. I'm sure by then you'll know the lines."-Yorimu

(Yorimu is cheerful no matter what happens. I wish I could have a mindset like his. I always face the bad sides of any situation.)-Ikaku's thought

"Oh! Sorry, I zoomed out into space.

The drama club cleaned up their materials and props for the day and headed out to the front of Miltondew High.
