"Then, tell her."
Pavitr glanced at his friend, who had a bored look resting upon his face.
"Tell her what?" He asked, trying to act oblivious. Trying to act as though he wasn't blabbering about Y/N for the last two hours.
"That you want to take her out," Hobie replied, shrugging.
"I do want t---how do you know that??" Pavitr questioned, confused, making his friend raise a brow at him.
Hobie merely kept a blank look on his face.
When he came to meet his friend, he did not know that he'd be given a whole lesson on some girl called Y/N L/N. With just how much Pavitr talked about her, Hobie was certain that he could write a three-page essay on the girl, who, mind you, he doesn't even know. Though he will admit, she sounded pretty cool.
"Do you actually want me to explain?" He deadpanned. Pavitr only flashed him a nervous grin to which he lets out an exasperated sigh before walking over to his bed where he was sitting.
"Listen, here's what you need to do," he grabbed the boy's shoulder, giving him a serious look. Pavitr put on a serious face too, although he just looked like a five-year-old who was refused to be given candy before going to bed. He listened carefully, awaiting any advice from his best friend. He cares so mu--
"Get out there and buy her a ring pop."
Pavitr stared at him.
"That's a great idea."
"Of course, it is," Hobie stated, letting go and tapping on his watch, making a portal appear behind him. "Next time, I come here, I better see a picture of you two as your phone's wallpaper."
With that, he got into the portal... like Starlord--
The teen now was left alone, thinking over Hobie's words.
'Who said it wasn't already?'
...
Swinging through the streets of Mumbattan during the night, Pavitr eyed the city he grew up in. As he kept swinging, shooting his web every now and then, without a single worry, he overhears a familiar voice talking.
"No, I can't kill that many people."
He snapped his head in the direction of the voice, forgetting he was moving in the air. Next thing, he knew, a solid object harshly collides with him, making him let out a low groan.
"I just want to know how S/N is," Y/N demands, awaiting an answer from the other side of the call. "No. She didn't come with us because of work. Nothing happened."
As she argued over the phone, Pavitr jumps on top of a pole right across Y/N's house. He didn't realize he was swinging by her house, having been distracted. Upon sight of her, a smile painted the boy's face, hidden by his mask.
Ever since he met Y/N few months ago, Pavitr had this strange feeling.
They had been friends for some time. Over time the feeling got stronger.
How often is it that you find a pretty girl in an alleyway talking to stray dogs like they're her old friends she hasn't met in a while?
The teen adored that memory. He was rather disappointed when she ran off like that.
He watched as Y/N pulled the phone away from her ear, a disappointed look on her face. She looked up from the device finding Mumbattan's one and only superhero, sitting on a pole straight across her balcony, startling her. She stared at him, confused and slightly scared. She did not ever wish to meet him again after quoting
'the man behind the slaughter' when he introduced himself to her.
Oddly enough, upon her finally seeing him, he raised his hand and waved at her, much like a certain someone. Y/N noticed the familiarity of the action, slowly raising her own hand and waving at the superhero. Unbeknownst to her, a small smile came up her lips. 'What is up with all this waving?'
Pavitr, on the other hand, grinned under his mask, recalling their first time meeting each other. And, then, without really thinking, he swung over to the house, landing on her balcony.
Y/N watched him do so, not knowing what else to do. "Hi," she awkwardly greeted, watching him stand up.
"Hey!" He greeted before a thought crossed his mind and he immediately cleared his throat. "I mean--hey."
He repeated in a deeper voice. His sudden voice change slightly confused Y/N but, she shook it off.
"So, how are you, Y/N?" He asked, putting his hand on his hips. The said girl could hear the smile in his voice, reminding her of the same person she was thinking of earlier. Then, she realized something.
'How did he know my na--? Oh, he's close with Pavitr.'
"I'm good," she nodded, recalling how he told Pavitr about that humiliating incident and that he's a snitch. "How are you, Spider-Man?"
The superhero felt his heart thumping against his chest. 'Y/N is so sweet. Asking me how I am.'
"I'm fine," he replied, trying to hold back a laugh as he suddenly noticed how Y/N was trying to keep a straight face.
Both stared at each other, Y/N coming up with how to get him to go away so she could be alone and think about her b̶o̶y̶friend.
"So, like, what are you doing here? Don't you have like, superhero-y things to do?" She asked, ashamed to be quoting yet, another character. She hoped they wouldn't suddenly start talking about love and heartbreak.
"Love and heartbreak?"
The H/C-haired teen's eyes widen as she realized she'd said it out loud.
Pavitr, on the other hand, was amused. This was so... Y/N. He chuckled, seeing her begin to stammer, trying to sputter out excuses.
"Why would we talk about that?" He questioned, Y/N internally scolding herself for yet, another humiliating moment with Spider-Man. "Unless..." He trailed off, looking up at the night sky. His tone sounded way too familiar, the only thing keeping Y/N from throwing out accusations at him was that odd voice. The girl began getting scared. 'Oh no, is he in love with someone?'
"Say, do you like someone?" He looked back at her, walking over to the railing. The H/C-haired teen watched him as he did. She squinted her eyes at the question. Slowly, she made her way, standing beside him.
"No," she firmly stated. "Other than fictional characters, of course. Do you?"
Pavitr laughed, turning to face her. He gazed at her, eyeing her features.
"Yeah," he muttered, drawing her attention as she looked at him. "I don't know about myself."
"Hah! So you are in love with someone!" Y/N blurt out, a wide smile on her face as she accusingly pointed at him. She was proud because her guess was correct. About a brief moment later, she quickly looked ahead, regaining her composure. Just as she did, the superhero beside her burst out laughing, not being able to take it anymore.
Y/N rolled her eyes, her ego being too hurt for her to notice how much Spider-Man's laugh sounded an awful lot like her friend's.
After a while, he'd finally calmed down, standing up straight again. By now, Y/N had gotten herself busy admiring the streets down below. As she did, Pavitr noticed the small smile on her face.
Y/N was exactly how he deemed her to be when she didn't wave back at him the first time they met. She was flawed. But, he adored those flaws. Those flaws were what made her perfect. They were what made her... her.
"How does... liking someone feel like? Not having a crush on a real person kind of makes things boring for me," Y/N said, her voice low. She truly wanted the answer to this question of her's. Yet, she had no one to ask. Her words gained a hum from the boy to which she only sighed not bothering to look up.
"Great," he briefly answered. Y/N scrunched up her nose. Perfectly not confusing.
"It isn't..." he trailed off, leaning down and resting his face in his palm. "Confusing."
He meant that. He wasn't confused. He was in denial. Denial because he was somewhat scared that Y/N wouldn't reciprocate his feelings. It had been a mere few months since they met.
Y/N glanced at him. "You can read minds?"
The spider-boy chuckled. "No," he answered. "But, I can sense you scrunching up your nose."
The two suddenly went silent. Both admiring the view. The city, full of people. The lights from shops, street lights, and houses lit up the streets. There were cars... everywhere. The H/C-haired teen stole a glance at the boy. She tried to keep it to herself. But, she had to say it. This was too much--S/N would be disappointed.
"Can I tell you something?" Y/N asked, finally noticing how his voice had changed back to normal. He nodded, not yet, looking up from the sight below. "You're quieter than your best friend."
Pavitr was visibly confused under his mask. 'Hobie?'
He glanced at the H/C-haired teen, who, for some very odd reason, even with his mask on, could practically feel that he was confused.
"Pavitr Prabhakar," she uttered his name, sending the superhero into a panic. He let out a horrified gasp. Taking a step back, he tried to comprehend what was going on. He hadn't been a superhero for long but, if there was one thing he knew... it was that you couldn't let anyone know your secret identity. Especially not your loved o--- 'Oh god, she's so smart-- wai---no! That's not what's important-SHE KNOWS! How does she know!!?!'
"Your best friend?"
The boy paused, merely staring at her. 'Oh! My best friend who's me. Yeah, him.'
"Pavitr!" He laughed, his voice deeper again, making Y/N have a hard time trying not to laugh. "Him! Hah! Of course, he... he... talks a lot?"
He felt... hurt. Did he annoy her?
"No!" Y/N immediately denied it, waving her hands around. "How could you say that about yo--him??"
She sounded offended.
"He doesn't talk a lot! He talks way too much and I love hearing him talk. I could hear him blabber on and on forever!"
Y/N was getting too brave. She was about to do what Pavitr did that morning. Blabber about his friend for two hours straight. Not that she knew.
"He's amazing! Like, he's the best--literally, all I could've ever asked for. He's the coolest, dens---I mean, smartest, kindest, sweetest person I've met!"
Y/N had forgotten an eensy-weensy little detail. A tiny one but, very crucial. Something she'd discovered about two minutes ago. Hence, how she was practically confessing something she's been in denial about.
"I literally lo--"
She abruptly paused, finally noticing how Spider-Man had been too quiet this entire time. She quickly regained her composure, clearing her throat. "He truly is great. And, I love... to hear him talk."
With that, another wave of silence washed over the two teens.
Y/N wished to jump right off her balcony but, since Spider-ling was there he'd catch her...that would be even more embarrassing.
Pavitr was trying to fight back tears. Her words had brought tears to his eyes and right now he wanted to skip around in happiness. Hence, now, he had to be excused so he could go home and skip around in his room.
"Excuse me--" he blurts out, his voice cracking. "I remembered I had to... do something."
He was about to swing off when Y/N suddenly grabbed hold of his hand. She was being too brave.
"Uh, hope you tell that girl--or, guy- or, person... that you like them," she quickly let out, hating herself at the moment. The other teen nodded before jumping off and quickly shooting his web toward a pole.
As Y/N watched his figure getting further and further away into the distance, she sighed. I'm so stupid.
Meanwhile, her friend had the widest grin on his face. He kept swinging, mindlessly moving in the air. And, just like that, he, once again, collides right into yet, another billboard, letting out a groan.
Pavitr knew, for a fact, he was so in love with Y/N.
