I am so sorry, but there is violence in this chapter.

It is sad, but does help with Can and Sanem's story.

When Can went back into the office, Deren was sitting with Sanem, showing her the Compass Sports work-up.   Sanem didn't say a word, just looked and thought for a moment.   Then she said, "I don't want to sound pushy, but what if instead of athletes, what if we have a family camping out, using Compass Sports equipment?  The kids and parents, could be playing games and yelling, 'FIND ME'.  Then when they are all driving home the Baba could look over to the Anne, while the kids are sleeping in the backseat, and quietly say, 'WE FOUND OURSELVES', this weekend.  Something kind of like that?"

Can and Deren were again amazed at the way this girl's mind worked.   Here was another great idea for a print and TV campaign, and a perfect slogan.

Deren jumped up and started yelling, "This is great, you are a wonder!" She took off out the door, and Sanem just sat there with a scared look on her face.

Can squatted down beside her chair and said, "Sanem are you okay?"

"Yes, Can Bey, I am not quite sure what happened with Ms. Deren, but I am okay." said Sanem quietly.

Can said, "You have really come through for us the last couple of days.  Why didn't you tell anyone, about your talent?"

"I was hired to be a Bring and Take Girl, so I didn't think I was supposed to do anything else!" said Sanem.

Can said, "Sanem have you ever thought about going to a university?"

Sanem smiled and said, "Can Bey, can I tell you a secret, not even my sister knows?"

Can smiled and said "Okay, and I won't tell anyone."  She leaned closer and said, "I have a degree from Bogazici University in Creative Writing and Ornithology.  I am working on my Master's Degree in Ornithology, I just love birds."

Can sat back, stunned, why wasn't Sanem telling anyone about this, even her sister. Sanem went on to explain, "That if my parent's found out they would make me quit here and work in the grocery store and marry Muzo right away. So I have to keep it all a secret, that's why I took the Bring and Take job, so I could work on my thesis after work at the Istanbul Library, and earn money to help Baba."

Can was speechless, and Sanem who had never talked this much at work before, got scared.   She started saying, "Please don't tell, no one but you knows and I am so sorry, I should not have talked so much."

Can stood up and said, "No it's okay, I won't tell anyone, but why would your parents keep you from getting an education?"

"In the Malhalla, where I live, the families are in charge of everything. especially the girls lives. The neighbors can be really mean, if you try to do anything any different."   Sanem said sadly. "Leyla was lucky as she is older, so she pushed and she got to go school, but our parent's have insisted that she marry their pick.   Now me, I will never get away, with being independent ever."

Can said, "Thank you for sharing with me.   I will try to come up with something to help you."      "No, Can Bey please just forget what I said. It will be okay," she said quietly, turning back to her computer.

Can just stood there thinking about this brilliant, so beautiful, and brave young lady, as she worked. He really had tender feelings for her, and wanted her to be happy.

Sanem had been working in Can's office for six months now.  Whenever she ask Deren about moving, she was told, "No, you need to stay there.  You are doing a great job with Can coming up with campaigns.    We are busier than ever because of the both of you!"  So Sanem stayed and worked where she was told.

One day Can was at lunch with a client, and Sanem stayed in the office to work on a different campaign.  The door opened suddenly, and Polen and another older lady came into the office.   Polen walked over to Sanem who had her back to the door, and did not hear them come into the room.   Polen grabbed Sanem by the hair and pulled her into the floor, yelling what are you doing in this office.  I knew you were trouble and started kicking and stepping on Sanem.  The other lady, said "Polen what are you doing?  Stop before my son comes in and sees you."  Polen did not stop, and Sanem was screaming in pain.  By this time, Emre, Can's brother ran into the office, along with Deren and CeyCey, trying to pull Polen off of Sanem.  The whole time Polen is yelling, "I told you to leave my fiancé alone."

CeyCey pulled his phone out, called the police and then Can.  By this time Emre had Polen by the arms, holding her back.  She would not stop trying to kick or hit Sanem.   Deren was helping Sanem up and into a chair.    She was bent double from being kicked in the stomach, and tears were falling freely from her eyes.   She just looked so hurt, wounded, and confused.

Emre said, "Mother, what are you doing here?" to the older lady with Polen. Huma said, "Polen told me she was engaged to Can, so we came to plan the wedding?    Who is this girl in Can's office and why is Polen hitting her?"

"Sanem works here and is Can's assistant with Campaign's and assistant Creative Director.    She has really helped our company tremendously since she started working here." explained Emre.

Can walked into the office at the same time Emre was explaining.   He said, "What is going on here?"   Polen started screaming, "That girl tried to hit me, and I was defending myself."

Can looked at Sanem and did not believe, what Polen said, as Sanem looked like she had been beaten.  He turned to CeyCey and said "Pull-up the film, so we can show the police, when they get here."   He went over to Sanem and squatted down and ask, "Are you okay?"   She said very quietly, "I am okay, just sore. I didn't hit her, but I am so sorry I upset your fiancée."

Can stood up and said to Polen, "I am not engaged to you and marriage was never mentioned by me ever.  Why are you in my office attacking my employee?"

Huma said, "But Can, Polen said you ask her to marry you, and I am here to help prepare for the wedding.   Why is that girl working in your office?"

Deren spoke up and said, "Sanem is a very valuable employee who has saved several of our accounts, and she is Can's creative assistant."

In the meantime, Polen is begging Can to "forgive me, and please marry me, since your mother came all this way to help."

Can said, "Not happening, and Huma, I advise you to ask me before you believe someone like Polen."

In the meantime, the Police arrived and CeyCey showed them the video feed of Polen coming up behind Sanem and attacking her.    He also, pulled up the film where Polen pushed Sanem down the stairs, several months before.

Polen started yelling at the Police officer, that Sanem hit her first.  The Officer, ignored her and went to Sanem to ask if she needed to go to the hospital.  She very quietly, looking down said, "No, I am fine, thank you.  Can you find out why she keeps attacking me?  I don't even know her."

The Officer stood up and ask for the person in charge, Can introduced himself, as Co-owner of the Agency, and Emre as his partner and brother.

The Officer wanted to know if charges were going to be filed and Can said, "Yes, as this is the second time she has attacked my employee, and this is uncalled for at any time.    As you saw, we have both attacks on video, and will give them to you for evidence.    As you can see, Sanem was attacked unaware and unprovoked, each time."

Polen was handcuffed and lead out of the office, yelling to Sanem that she better watch out.  The Officer advised her of her rights and also said "You are making some serious threats in front of many witnesses."

When they were gone, Can and Deren went over to Sanem, who was curled into her chair, not looking up, and ask if she was sure she was okay.  She nodded yes, and ask would it be okay if she left early today?  They said, "Yes, of course," and Can ask, "Could I drive you home?"   Sanem looked up with a very frightened look on her face and said "Please, no it's okay."

She got up very slowly and walked toward the door, slightly bent over, saying "I will find Leyla, to go with me."   She did not even make it to the door, before she fell over.   Can ran over and turned her over, and realized there was blood on her clothing.   Deren very quickly called an ambulance to come, as she was obviously hurt very badly.  Can picked her up and placed her on the couch.  He was shocked how light and petite she was, and how she did not even move or wake-up.  He was really afraid for her.

Huma had gone to Emre's office, to ask him what was going on with Can?   Emre told her all he knew was Can had broken up with Polen, months ago, because of her bad attitude.   It had nothing to do with Sanem, as she had just started work.   Another thing is Sanem is brilliant, and has saved the company many accounts since starting.  She is very quiet and doesn't bother anyone, but comes up with fantastic campaigns and slogans.  Everyone loves her, especially Aunt Remide.

Huma was shocked, as she herself was kind of afraid of Aunt Remide, her ex-sister-in-law.

They heard a commotion and went back to Can's office, in time to see the EMT's taking Sanem out on a stretcher. They saw blood all over the sheet covering Sanem.   Deren said, "Sanem just stood up to leave and passed out.  She is not awake yet.  What has Polen done?"
