Hi, everyone! This update is late-coming, but I'm sorry to say this story has been discontinued.

So, I rewrote a lot of the book a while ago (second time rewriting it lol), but I just haven't really been into writing in it lately:( Maybe there will be a day when I upload the rewritten version, but I do not see this story continuing at this point!

Again, I'm sorry! Thank you for the comments and support!

As a part of my apology, here's an excerpt of the 2nd rewritten version haha.

"Keith?!" Andy yelped. He stood in the doorway frozen with surprise as Lance ran past him, brushing his shoulder forcefully. Andy had made quick time, driven by the name he'd heard come from Pidge's mouth. The other boy quickly slipped Shiro's other arm, the one that Keith wasn't supporting, onto his own shoulders. Andy's jaw clenched, the muscle popping out with his disbelief. But he should have known that wherever Takashi went, Keith was never too far behind.

"Nope. No, you- No, no, no. No, you don't. I'm saving Shiro."

Keith turned away from the protesting cadet to rest his gaze on Andy. Those eyes... He hadn't seen them in forever, not since Keith had up and left without saying goodbye. He looked surprised, but if anyone should be surprised it should be Andy.

They hadn't been close, not in the way he and Pidge were, but there was something. They acknowledged each other in the hallways, which Keith hardly ever did to anyone unless it was Takashi. The two boys were up to their necks in competitive frustration and determination, but they had gotten through it together. They'd never put a name to it, how they fit into each other's lives. Not friends but not just acquaintances, an unsaid something.

Right then, however, Andy could tell Keith had changed. There was no glimmer of mirth- amusement he found in watching others flounder. His eyes were steel in the poor lighting of the pop-up med-lab.

"Andy," he said, something like surprise lingering on the edge of his voice. The two stared at each for a few seconds, before Keith turned his head to look at Lance across Takashi's broad chest. "Who are you?"

Lance's face crumpled. "You remember him, but not me? Well, excuse you but the name's Lance." He pointedly blinked his long eyelashes at Keith. "We were in the same class at the Garrison."

"Really? Are you, ah... an engineer?" Keith asked, disinterested.

"Fighter pilot," Andy said for Lance, trying not to dwell on the fact that Keith remembered his name and not Lance's. Two sets of eyes turned to look at him, ocean blue and amethyst purple. Maybe it was how he'd said it that made them both swivel to see him, something akin to frustration or anger or shock.

Keith's mouth twisted into something that Andy couldn't figure out. It was like deja vu; he was sure something similar had happened before. The familiarity baffled him, familiar in the way that Keith's thick eyebrows turned down and his left hand's fingers flared from where they rested on Takashi's muscular arm. It made his heart ache, the repetition of it all with Keith standing right in front of him. Suddenly, the longing for the other boy came back in full power. His neck itched from the feelings swirling around in his head and chest: anger, frustration, yearning.

"Uh, guys?"

Andy turned on his heel and walked away, desperate for a breath of fresh air.
