hi! i'm doing something a little bit different today, matching characters/groups in the hermitcraft and life series fandoms to songs and/or lyrics. this concept was originally thought up by ashshade55 on quotev, so all credit goes to her. 

that being said, let's get into the list!

(also, fair warning, these are mostly crane wives songs- i am so not normal about their music lol)

the garden - the crane wives: if you've read tell the crows they can have their pound of flesh or there's crows in the garden, you already know i fully associate this song with martyn and ren in 3rd life. i will defend this take with my life.

volta - the crane wives: as you've already likely seen, boatboys. boatboys all the way.

wolves of the revolution - the arcadian wild: short answer: dogwarts. long answer: dogwarts but also it would be a really cool song to center a sort of death game au (think hunger games crossed with life series) around

october - the crane wives: last life bdubs maybe??? i say this very, very hesitantly, having put only enough thought into it for it to briefly appear on my ideas for writing list

the diving bell - the crane wives: joel but in a mer au. lizzie is a mer, he isn't. boom.

i was born - lulu suicide: 3rd life grian, specifically inspired by the lines: i was born to fly / i was born to die.

red clay - the crane wives: double life cleo and martyn sort of angle mayhaps? i say this from the perspective of some sort of au by the way, where cleo and martyn's vibes at the beginning would largely match their vibes in double life.

scars - the crane wives: double life cleo??????????? listen it's just the line 'you toiled on a bridge to cross the gap inside' honestly. it just really makes me think of the ravine and the broken bridge stretching across it to the bleeding heart bastion

mad dog - the crane wives: last life joel 100%

rounds - the oh hellos: again, you already know this if you've read my rounds-inspired oneshot- martyn.

torches - the oh hellos: honestly, this could be a lot of people, but i think last life cleo before anything else (at least for the first verse, the second one is a big question mark)

new river - the oh hellos: limited life martyn. first of all, there's stuff about oceans, which fits with where his and scott's base was. secondly, 'let it come down, let it come down / let it make in you a new river' makes me think of the finale

rose - the oh hellos: kind of a double life pearl angle i feel??

soap - the oh hellos: double life tango. i feel like this could be good for some ranchers fluff :]]

take me to war - the crane wives: this gives me lizzie (last life lizzie specifically probably) vibes and i honestly have no clue why lol

caleb trask - the crane wives: secret life scar. and maybe i only think that because i heard this song for the first time like . . . a day before the secret life finale episodes came out but- idk i just think it fits really well

i ain't done - the crane wives: this very much gives me either cleo vibes (no specific series or anything, just cleo vibes) or double life pearl vibes.

icarus - the crane wives: i always associate this song with grian, no idea why but i do. honestly, it's probably just because the song's called icarus lol

steady, steady - the crane wives: double life cleo

tongues and teeth - the crane wives: it just has to be a desert duo song, doesn't it? it's such a popular take, but i can't disagree with it at all

canary in a coal mine - the crane wives: jimmy. i don't think anything else needs to be said honestly

metaphors - the crane wives: scar, double life.

little soldiers - the crane wives: it's 100% a treebark song

sleeping giants - the crane wives: i feel like this is just a life series song in general. it feels very 'i'm entering a death game and it feels like something's watching me'. it probably works the best for third life.

never love an anchor - the crane wives: grian double life

i talk in my sleep - the crane wives: double life pearl, as seen in one of my foxlore collection oneshots

down the river - the crane wives: bdubs last life, as, again, seen in one of my foxlore collection oneshots lol

pretty little things - the crane wives: i feel like its a flower husbands kind of song

hollow moon - the crane wives: limited life martyn i feel like

the wolf - the crane wives: double life pearl. solidly double life pearl.

little bird - the arcadian wild: ranchers (in which jimmy is the 'little bird' and tango is the narrator)

the long oneshot is coming together slowly but surely. it's still gonna be a while until it's out (i'm hoping for early november) but it is happening behind the scenes, i promise, and i think you guys are gonna like it :]]
