:Isaac:
"Why in the world did you lead some human girl back here. . . in wolf form no less?" My mother asked---- correction demanded. Her tone held no games. And those emerald green eyes that contrasted with my black eyes demanded answers and respect.
'I think the best thing to do when mom really wants answers like this is to tell the truth.' 'Yeah, and she'd know if we weren't anyway. It's impossible to lie to mom, as well as a werewolf.' Venom nodded at that as I watched my mom and then Lore in the kitchen.
"Mom. . . she's my mate." I said in a very low voice as her scent came in. She smelled so good. Like coconuts and mistletoe berries. It was a scent that teased my nose in ways that is shouldn't. Messing around with my control as well as Venom's.
"Really?" My mom asked shocked. "Yeah, I was just going for a run in the woods and hunting rabbits. And I saw her. And I just couldn't leave her there. Least I didn't mark her." I said and my mom nodded at that. Relief that I hadn't done it.
'Yeah that would be quite the thing to explain to her. She seems so innocent and naïve.' And completely unaware of the supernatural world. Seems the moon goddess wanted to be funny and give me a human mate. And Venom accepted. 'You'll understand one day on why I did.'
I was surprised I hadn't noticed her scent sooner. Maybe because of all the woods that concealed her scent. In my own house it was so vibrant. I just wanted to inhale it and get high off of her. She just smelled so good and I could barely contain myself, I wanted her so badly.
'But there is a bit of a problem with getting her. She doesn't know about the supernatural world.' That was a problem. Lore knew nothing of the supernatural world. Not one bit, I mean she thought my wolf was my mother's dog. Now to find out how to introduce it to her.
But I had no idea on how to even attempt to that. So it seems I just would be going with the flow at this point. Just making up things as I go along and hope that it all falls into place. Eventually I'd be able to tell Lore.
But you know getting to know her would be a nice thing as well. Rushing into a relationship wasn't the best thing so I had to get to know her. And hopefully she'll feel the mate bond as well. "I'm sorry mom." I said a bit embarrassed at bring a girl home.
'It shouldn't be that bad, I mean Lore did seem a bit upset. And now the smell of that is diminishing.' "It's fine Isaac, but you have to bring her home." My mom said and I nodded before walking in and Lore looked up at me and I smiled just a bit. Now to cover myself up.
"I'm sorry that my dog led you back. He's quite the character." I said. "Oh it's fine, he was cute, do you two really have the same name?" Lore asked. "No, his name is Venom." I said. 'Nice save there.' I nodded at that.
"Interesting name." Lore said. I nodded. "Is he still here?" Lore asked. "No he's probably out in the forest again." I said. "Isn't that dangerous?" Lore asked. "Venom is a timber wolf. He likes the forest, plus it's fenced in for him." I said and Lore nodded at that.
'Your doing very well with these saves.' 'I know, they just keep coming to my mind. Which I am thankful for.' I nodded at that. "Oh, did he get out today then?" Lore asked. "No, you probably wondered onto our property. Not everywhere is fenced in, but we don't worry about him running away." I said.
"Oh I'm sorry, I was just following the trail and I got lost." Lore said with a bit of a blush. She brushed the white strands of her. "Oh it's fine. Your new here aren't you?" I asked and Lore nodded at that and I smiled at her.
"My doctor transferred me over here, we moved into a nice house. My parents don't like it, but I like it a lot." Lore said with a smile. 'She must like nature then which is good. It's pretty vital to have a mate who likes what you are practically part of.'
I nodded at that. "It's beautiful out here. Especially here." Lore said and I smiled. "Yeah." I said. "Have you always lived here?" Lore asked and I nodded at that. "Yeah. My entire life. This house is really old, it's been in my family for generations." I told Lore.
"Really it doesn't even look that old." Lore commented. I smiled. 'It doesn't, mom has done a good job with this house and dad is always happy with the small things that she does.' I nodded at that. My mother had made sure this house wasn't some rust bucket falling apart.
She had replaced some of the wood already. "Yeah my mom fixes any of the things wrong with it. It was my father's house he grew up in. He was happy to make it the perfect home." I said and Lore nodded at that as she looked back at my mom who was in the kitchen.
She was taking out chocolate chip cookies with peanut butter chips. The smell was good and you could see it on her face as well. 'Well they do smell good. I'm sure Lore likes cookies just as much as we do.' And my mom had good cookies.
One look at Lore's face told me she wanted one. My mother came over with two plates and set them down with a bit of a smile. "Thank you." Lore said looking a bit wide eyed but she ate them anyway. I smiled as she wiped some gooey chocolate from her face.
'The cookies are the best when from the oven.' Times like this are when I'm thankful for a pancreas which Venom does not have. Once we finished up the cookies I put the plates away while my mom picked up the phone as someone called her. At that moment there was a knock at the door.
"I'll go get it mom." I said as my mom gave Lore a bottle of water from the fridge with the sealed cap. I got up and opened the door to see Isadora standing outside with a bit of a smile on her face.
"So I'm here to spend the night." Isadora said shouldering her bookbag. "I can see." I said. "You don't mind right?" Isadora asked. 'Well Isadora rarely spends the night, so she probably has a reason to be spending the night so no problem.' "It's fine, but I have company right now." I said.
Isadora shrugged and came in. Lore looked up. 'Why is there a human in your house?' Isadora asked through our mind-link. Isadora watched Lore with curiosity in her gaze and Lore watched unsure. And I swore I detected a bit of jealousy which made me swell with pride at the thought.
'She's my mate, I found her on the run. Just go with the flow.' I responded and Isadora nodded. Isadora turned to Lore with a smile. "Hi I'm Isadora." Isadora said holding her hand out and Lore watched a bit bewildered before hesitantly shaking it watching Isadora very closely.
'We should probably get her home soon, maybe make some plans to go meet up with each other later. Now we have an Isadora to deal with.' I never minded Isadora. She was my best friend. She had been since we were infants. We grew up with each other.
Although it was a bit strange that she was my brother's best friend's daughter and I was a few months older than her as well, almost a year. "Lore." Lore said. "That's a pretty name, I'm Isaac's best friend. Your pretty." Isadora said and I shook my head at that. Of course she would say that.
I loved Isadora, she was my best friend. But very straight forward. 'I'm not even sure who she gets it from, since neither Alana or Kadan are like that.' Although she was a bit shy at times. But apparently not with Lore it seems. Lore seemed shocked at that.
"Ah, thank you?" Lore said a bit confused. Isadora smiled. "Hey Ms. Ashford." Isadora said and my mom smiled as Isadora came and took up a cookie. "I'm going to go put my stuff up in the guest bedroom." Isadora said and I nodded at that before turning to Lore.
"Do you want me to drive you home?" I asked. Lore seemed a bit reluctant to go home, but nodded. "Sure." Lore said and I smiled at her. "Mom, I'm going to go drop off Lore." I said and my mom nodded. 'I wonder where she lives, do you think it was the house for sale?' 'Possibly.'
Lore followed me out to my car. A 2024 Cadillac, something I got for my sixteenth birthday. Lore got in the front as I pulled out. "So where do you live?" I asked. "230 blossom lane." Lore said and I nodded with a bit of a smile.
"That's about a mile out." I said driving in the direction. It didn't take long to get there. "Thanks." Lore said and I nodded. "Hey Lore." I said. 'Yes, do it, so this won't be the last time we see her, or have to be creeps and show up at her house.'
"Yes?" Lore asked. "Tomorrow, you want to go out for coffee?" I asked. Lore seemed a bit shocked before smiling. "That'd be nice." Lore said and I grinned. "It's a date." I said before driving away with a wave and a grin on my face at the date with my mate.
1645. Is it bad that I don't even know what year it is in this book? Probably. I'll figure it out eventually. But yeah you'll be meeting new characters in here as well as Isaac and Lore's relationship developing with two obstacles. 1: Her parents, 2: Her heart disease. But trust me this will end epically. Until next time lovestruck marshmallows.
