Angel hissed under his breath, this was a stupid idea. He didn't have a weapon and he knew that most certainly Valentino would have something on him. Casting the open window one final look he followed after Charlie, Vaggie and Niffty.
"This is stupid." Angel mumbled as Niffty rushed forward ahead of the others. Angel reached forward, snatching Charlie and Vaggie's wrists, yanking them back towards him. "We can't go into this without a plan. Valentino wants Alastor dead, and he most certainly wants me back, so we gotta have a plan." Angel pointed out as Vaggie nodded. Charlie stared at the spider demon for a few moments.
"I was going to talk to him." Charlie admitted as Angel blinked at the princess of hell.
"Yah fuckin shitting me. That's a terrible fucking plan. They are going to come in guns blazing." Angel stated.
"What other choice do we have?" Charlie asked.
"Lots of other choices... that I can't think of right now, but most certainly talkin to that man will get us all killed." Angel blurted.
"Angel Darling!" The voice echoed down the hall. Angel felt his heart race as he wanted to turn tail and run back to the dining room. The chill of the shadow ran up his spine as it tried to give him a form of comfort, but that seemed to not ease him at all.
"Angel, let me just talk to him." Charlie stated. Angel didn't agree with this but there wasn't much he could do, if the princess wanted to get shot at then she was going to get shot at. Charlie gave the three other demons a small smile before heading towards the main entrance hotel.
"He-" BANG!!
Charlie sprinted backwards as a bullet dug into the wall where she was just moments before.
"Oh princess, I'm looking for someone very special. Please fetch me, my fuckin slut!" Valentino's voice called. "And that useless deer. Otherwise I'm going to have to go hunting."
"Back to the dining room." Angel snapped, grabbing Charlie, Vaggie and Niffty. "We gotta block the door." Angel pointed out as Vaggie broke free from the spider's grip. Slamming the door shut, she locked it tight, before Angel and Niffty started stacking chairs.
"Wouldn't do that." A voice called from the other side of the door. Bullets tore through the wooden door, forcing the group to take cover behind the large table. Tipping the table over Vaggie peaked over the top of the table as Niffty darted to the kitchen fetching knives and other items. Charlie whimpered as she was handed a frying, and Angel snagged three knives that the cyclops carried.
"This is the worst place for this to happen." Angel whispered as more bullets ripped through the door finally hitting the lock. "Shit." Angel hissed as he ducked back under the table. They were so screwed.
"Angel darling!" Valentino's voice called as the door gave a loud groan before it swung open. The sound of heels on the carpet radiated through the room as Angel gave a small whimper. What would Valentino do to him? Another two pairs of footsteps moved after the first, and Angel felt his stomach churn at the thought. A chill rushed along Angel's fur as the shadow took shape along the spider's back.
The lights above them flickered, getting everyone in the room to fall silent, their attention snapping to the flickering bulbs for a few moments. A scratchy noise escaped the radio on the mantel, as a song started playing but it was hard to hear through all the static that filled the room. The light bulbs flickered once more before one by one each cracked and shattered, pieces of glass falling to the ground and on the demons below. The shadow against Angel's back retreated taking form above the cowering group.
"So where's your master?" Valentino hissed, as he leveled his pistol at the shadow. The shadow cackled his teeth becoming longer as its horns spread, the points growing bigger and becoming many. The shadow's body shifted as its arms grew longer, its head becoming monstrous taking the shape of a full deer skull. Its eyes glowing a bloody red, as crimson blood dripped from its incisors. The shadow reached a long shadowy claw forward as electricity crackled along its body making it look like lightning sparks against its skin. A loud roar tore from the shadow as screams escaped the trio that had entered. The shadow rushed forward as the footsteps retreated, shouts of pain filling the space as Charlie clasped her hands over her ears trying to drown out the screams and Vaggie held her girlfriend close.
Angel felt his chest pounding, his body shaking as a loud snap resounded through the room as the spider pressed himself further into the bottom of the table. Niffty dared to take a peak over the table before slowly getting to her feet.
"Stay here, I'll clean as much as I can." Niffty stated, as if this was a normal occurrence for her. Angel gave the small cyclops a look before she disappeared over the table, and the demon steeled himself to take a small glimpse. Maybe the shadow had killed Val? Taking a shaky breath, Angel took a look over the table. Blood was splattered across the walls, painting them a deep red. A set of limbs were lying around the room, and a head was in the hallway but to Angel's disappointment it wasn't Vals. Taking a small gulp, Angel slowly pushed himself to his feet before looking up to the shattered light bulbs. How did that happen? Niffty scurried around and quickly gathered the body parts into a garbage bag, before rushing to the kitchen perhaps to keep for Alastor. Rushing back the housekeeper set to work cleaning up the blood as quickly as she could.
"What happened?" Vaggie asked as she slowly stood up, she could stomach the view a bit better than Charlie probably could.
"I gues-" Niffty stopped herself.
"Alastor's shadow?" Angel whispered.
"I've never seen his shadow do that before." Niffty informed.
"GUYS!" Husk's voice echoed from the window as the cat demon flew back into the room. He was able to stop himself from crashing by wrapping his tail around one of the table's legs. In his arms, he held an unconscious Alastor who had somehow sustained more injuries.
"The fuck happened!" Angel shouted as he rushed over to the cat taking the overlord from his hands.
"Alastor started making electricity, it was like his shadow magic but it just made everything go haywire! I've never seen that before!" Husk stated as he looked around the room. Niffty had done a good job at cleaning a good portion of the blood from the walls.
"Alastor can't control electricity." Niffty responded.
"Maybe it has to do with his fight with Vox?" Charlie said as she finally got to her feet taking a small glance around the room. They had a lot to clean up, a soft chill filled the air as the shadow swept across the ground before wrapping itself around Angel's legs and crawling up to his back and shoulders.
"Hey that doesn't feel frickin weird at all ya shadowy bastard." Angel snapped at the ghost before giving a huff. "I'm going to go take care of this." Angel whispered before heading off to Alastor's room. No one bothered to stop him, letting the spider demon go and do whatever he wanted. Maybe they just didn't know how to deal with him right now.
He locked the door behind him before gently setting Alastor on the bed, hearing a faint groan escape the demon. Angel moved over to look over the medical kit digging out the container of antibiotic ointment, he needed to clean the burns first.
"Hey ya awake?" Angel asked as he heard another groan. Alastor reached a hand up to his head rubbing at his eyes before giving a hiss in pain.
"What? How did-"
"Husk brought you back down, after you passed out." Angel answered. "I need to clean your burns. How are ya feeling?" Angel asked as he walked into the bathroom to fetch a bowl of water and a cloth.
"Fine." Alastor lied as Angel rolled his eyes. The deer demon's smile was back, but Angel expected as much he rarely let his smile fall. Even if it did fall, it was only ever around Angel.
"Liar." Angel responded before filling the bowl with water.
"It's not a lie."
"Yeah, then get up." Angel stated as he walked back into the room setting the bowl on the nightstand. Crossing his lower set of arms, Angel waited for Alastor to either admit his pain or to watch him try to get to his feet.
"You are quite persistent. Alright, I don't feel good."
"An understatement. Take your sweatshirt off, it looks like ya burned holes in it." Angel pointed out. Alastor grumbled but complied slowly peeling the sweatshirt off himself, it had been more of a struggle than the radio demon cared to admit. "So, how'd yah manage this?" Angel asked as he sat at the edge of the bed, dipping the cloth in the water to start cleaning the burns on the deer demon's arms.
"I was trying... I was trying to summon shadows to help you. Then electricity just started." Alastor admitted.
"So yah don't know?"
"Know what?"
"Your shadow, did somethin. It took a different shape, and it had electricity all over it. It was like it was struck by lightnin or something." Angel informed but the look he got from Alastor didn't help him relax. "Do ya think it could have to do with your fight with Vox?"
"I'm not certain."
"Also, Niffty saved ya some... um... leftovers from the battle I think." Angel stated as Alastor raised an eyebrow. He could always count on Niffty to take care of him. Angel finished tying off the last burn on his right arm before taking the demon's left arm.
"I will have to thank her later." Alastor responded as his stomach growled.
"Yah haven't eaten much since ya woke."
"Almost nothing." Alastor admitted.
"I'll go get ya some of those leftovers after this." Angel informed. A swish flew across the wall as the shadow cocked its head at its master, a small look on its face. The shadow started giving off a chirping like noise, getting Alastor's ears to stand tall. "What's up?"
"It appears that Valentino escaped again. I'm getting rather tired of this moth. If I could just use my powers..."
"If yah could use your powers than we wouldn't be doing this." Angel gestured to where he was cleaning the burn on Alastor's upper arm. "Are yah certain your not blockin your own power?"
"What do you mean?"
"I mean it could be a mind thing. Like yah think you shouldn't be good to go but yah really are. Your magic could be blocked or something." Angel suggested as he finished wrapping the last bandage. "I'll go get that meat, do ya want it cooked?" Alastor gazed up at the spider for a few moments.
"Yes, that would be great." Angel nodded leaving the room without another word. Maybe he wasn't powerless. He just needed to focus, and be in silence. Maybe that would help him. He would never get silence for as long as he was here.
The shadow moved around him, its chattering filling his ears as the deer demon huffed slowly getting to his feet keeping all the pressure off his right leg. The shadow snagged a red sweatshirt from the pile, thrusting it into its master's hands before he pulled the fabric on. Angel would be angry with him, when he got back perhaps he could leave a note. The shadow raced to his desk grabbing a pen and paper shoving it into his hands. Quickly scribbling out the note, he dropped it on the bed and he took a deep breath. A crackle of electricity surged around him, pain erupting from his hands. He took a shaky breath focusing on the darkness around him, his aura glowing. Red sigils filled the space between, before electricity surged across him and he disappeared into the shadows.
