at his hair in frustration as he cried, "All those minerals Chrome spent years gathering, and the lab we spent months building! If it gets wrecked, we'll..."

Meanwhile, Suika was standing nearby with a worried expression, her lips pulled into a small frown as an idea began to form in her, "I'm going to protect the Kingdom of Science!"

Amid the chaos, no one paid attention as the watermelon girl slipped away towards where the enemies were hiding, and she revealed herself to them with the plan to draw their attention onto her and lure them away from the village.

"Look!" One of the enemies, who had spotted the blonde, called out to the rest of his comrades. "Some dumb kid who didn't get away in time!"

Suika started to tremble as all heads snapped towards her, bloodlust-filled eyes trained on her as their mouths twisted into predatory grins. Despite that, she pushed through her fear and tucking herself into her watermelon mask, the blonde bounced away.

Her plan worked as the group of men gave chase, "After her! She'll be our hostage!"

Meanwhile, watching from high up in the tree were Hyoga and Homura, the former commented in a curious tone, "So devoted that she'd act as a diversion to help the others? I certainly appreciate her naïveté. We only need one captive to win, and this will be far easier than attacking the home base of those soldiers of science."

Homura nodded wordlessly in agreement and together, they followed after their subordinates from a distance.

Suika, at the moment, was hiding behind a large tree while the enemies searched for her amongst the thick foliage covering the forest ground, 'Gotta hide and run in turns to lure them away from the Kingdom of Science. I'll run upwind, toward the mountain, so they can't smoke me out with more fire!'

With that, she made her way upwards; luring the enemies further away from the village as they ran after her.

"There she is! That way!"

Back at the village, everyone was still working together in an attempt to put out the fire when Ginro came running over with bad news, emerald-green eyes wide with panic as he explained that Suika was missing.

"Suika did what?!" Kohaku cried out in alarm.

"I-I tried to stop her!" The blonde stammered, "She was heading up the mountain to the hot springs!"

Hearing that, your brows furrowed as a feeling of dread sank in, 'Something about this wind...it's not exactly giving me a good feeling.'

And it looked like you weren't the only one who thought so as you turned to Senku, both of you exchanging grim looks.

Time skipped

"Give it up already!" The enemy yelled as they closed in on the bouncing watermelon, licking their lips in anticipatory fun. "Let's break one of her legs when we catch her!"

Suika came to a sudden stop as a gust of strange wind blew through her, wide eyes staring in shock when a squirrel fell in front of her – its body unmoving as it stared up at the blonde with unblinking eyes.

"Suika! Get up into a tree!" Senku warned the girl as he ran for her while you chose to leap into action instead, knowing that she wouldn't be fast enough to get out of harm's way.

Grabbing the girl, you slapped the mask over her nose and mouth with one hand before jumping to catch a branch of a tree above with the other, hanging on tight as the wave of sulfuric gas washed over where she stood earlier.

Any second later and Suika would've been a goner.

"Wh-What just happened?!" She cried, her small body trembling with fright in your arms.

(E/C) eyes softened as you reassured her, pulling her tighter into your hold, "You don't have to worry. The poison gas will settle to the bottom."

Hearing that, the group of enemies below widened their eyes in fear as they glanced up at the two of you, panicking, "Did she say...poison gas?!"

Without hesitation, they scrambled for the nearest tree which happened to be the one that Hyoga and Homura were on and out of the danger zone as they climbed frantically.

Senku was the only one still on the ground, but he was in no danger due to the gas mask and instead, he braved the wave of sulfuric gas as it washed over him.

"Mother Nature is neither friend nor foe." The scientist stated calmly. "She's as impartial as they come."

"Poison gas?!" An enemy clinging onto the tree exclaimed, glaring daggers at the green-haired teen. "Did you make this happen, you twig?!"

Ruby-red eyes danced with amusement as Senku glanced up at the group and loudly responded, "Yeah, you bet I did. That's what you get for pulling a dumbass move like a suicide attack on our Kingdom of Science, with its modern weaponry."

Then he shifted his attention over to both you and Suika, his voice softening as he continued, "Now, let's head back, Suika. If you breathe nice and slow, you'll be fine."

"O-Okay!" Said watermelon girl nodded her head obediently.

Letting go of the branch, you landed onto the ground next to the scientist, wincing slightly as your still injured ankle protested at the impact; earning a concerned look from the scientist.

You ignored his worry and walked off instead, not wanting to reveal your weakness in the presence of your enemies. Senku, on the other hand, sighed at your stubbornness before turning back to the group still stuck on the tree.

Laughing at their misery, he teased, "You guys head back and suckle on Mommy Tsukasa's teat...After you wait ten billion seconds for the gas to clear out, that is."

With that, he turned on his heels and followed after you, the three of you heading back to camp without so much of a backwards glance.

Back at the village, Kokuyo was trying to cheer up his fellow villagers that even though they lost their homes, it wasn't the end of the world for they won the battle against their enemies. "We can always rebuild the lost buildings! We've repelled the attackers without a single casualty! Ishigami Village has won this battle!"

The air rang with loud cheers and the former chief nodded his head in satisfaction, glad to see that the morale was still high as ever. Then, he turned his attention to Suika, a gentle smile on his face as he commended her for her bravery, "You managed quite the achievement, Suika."

Said watermelon girl beamed in delight, her cheeks blushing a light pink at the praise.

Next to her, Kaseki frowned in disapproval as he scolded her lightly, "It was reckless as all get out, though."

Meanwhile, in the science shed, Senku was attending to your sprained ankle. (E/C) eyes trailed after the green-haired teen as he grabbed a roll of bandage from the shelf, a scalpel from the table and a jar of medicinal ointment for the swelling before making his way over to where you were seated with your injured leg propped up on a small stool.

Except for the muffled noise coming from outside, the next few minutes were spent in silence as Senku worked on your injury – spreading the ointment over the swollen area before wrapping the bandage securely around your ankle, cutting off the excess with the scalpel.

As he pulled on the bandage a little too hard while tying up the loose ends, you let out a small hiss as pain shot up your leg. Alarmed, the green-haired teen stopped what he was doing, and his head snapped up; ruby-red eyes swirling with a mix of concern and guilt as he met your gaze.

"Sorry, I'll be more careful," Senku apologized, the corners of his mouth pulled into a frown which didn't sit right with you.

Sighing, you reached forward and flicked the teen on his forehead, earning an annoyed scowl in return as his hand flew up to rub at the spot. Your expression morphed into one of smugness as you nodded your head in satisfaction, "That's more like the Senku that I know."

The scientist glared at you, but there was no heat behind it before his face relaxed, a fond smile tugging his lips as he mumbled, "What am I going to do with you?"

You grinned while wiggling your foot, gentle enough that it wouldn't cause your ankle to protest at the action, and ordered him, "Well, for starters, you can get back to what you're doing, and we shall see."

Senku rolled his eyes at your teasing words but nonetheless, he obliged and resumed securing the bandage around your ankle; his fingers working lightly and carefully to avoid hurting you further.

"All done," He finished by tucking in the ends so that the dressing wouldn't unravel that easily. "Just make sure that you take it easy for the next few days as your ankle heals."

"Thank you, Senku. I'm just going to—"

Your sentence got cut off, (e/c) eyes widening as the scientist leaned forward and placed a light kiss on your wrapped foot; his action painting your cheeks the colour of red roses, that peak of champagne pink.

Even through the layers of bandage, you could feel the lingering heat of his lips; like the gentle glow of a firefly and it sent a shiver up your spine. Then, as Senku lifted his eyes, your breath hitched at the raw emotion of devotion as he looked into your gaze.

Your eyelids snapped shut, unable to handle the intensity of his stare without feeling like your heart was going to burst at the seams from the overflowing waves of love crashing over you.

"(Name), look at me," You heard the soft calling of your name, but you shook your head and refused to do as told for you knew that if you did, you would break and you weren't ready for that yet; at least not like this.

Senku let out a sigh, but it was the light touch of the finger beneath your chin, lifting your head that caused your eyes to peak open, blinking in confusion as you met his gaze.

A small, pleased smile tugged at his lips as the green-haired teen stood up and (e/c) eyes followed his movement as you embraced yourself for what was coming next. However, no amount of anticipation could prepare you for what happened, and you were caught off guard by what the scientist did.

Cupping the sides of your face, ruby-red glimmered with a hint of determination before it disappeared behind fluttered eyelids as Senku tilted his body forward while lifting your head to meet his lips midway.

Your eyes grew tenfold as the scientist kissed you, your brain short-circuited and all you could feel was the warmth of his lips on yours. Time stood still before it caught up to you and you gave it into the desire of wanting more.

As though reading your mind, Senku angled your head better so that he could deepen the kiss; a whimper of need escaping from you as he licked the bottom of your lips. In this moment of the kiss, it was the sweetness of love as both your hearts opened up to each other.

You wanted to stay like this for an eternity, but breathing became your mortal enemy and the two of you broke apart, chests heaving slightly while you caught your breath; your gaze holding a whisper of hope as you stared questioningly into red eyes.

Senku said nothing as he searched your face, his eyes drinking in the aftermath of your state caused by his kiss – the swelling redness of your lips when he sucked on them, the pinkish hue of your cheeks and the (e/c) in your eyes so bright with untold feelings as though the sun itself had been encapsulated in it.

He must have found what he was looking for because his expression softened into one of shyness and nervousness as he stammered, "I...I..."

The drumming in your heart picked up speed, getting louder and louder with each second as you realized where this could be heading to, and you leaned forward, nearly falling out of your chair in anticipation, but you didn't care.

Senku, on the other hand, was struggling to get the words that he knew were sitting on the tip of his tongue out. His brows furrowed in concentration as he tried to speak past the sudden unknown force in his mouth, "(Name), I...I..."

Yet, it was a futile attempt and he cursed instead, running a hand through his hair as his lips twisted into a frustrated scowl.

Your face fell as the hope in your heart died like a defeated soldier on a battlefield and your stomach curled with disappointment, but you didn't blame the greenette; knowing that it wasn't easy for the average person to wear their heart on the sleeve, let alone the scientist whose actions and words were filled with facts instead of emotions.

As Senku opened his mouth in what you knew would be an apology, you pressed a finger against his lips. Said teen blinked down at his mouth before glancing up in confusion, ruby-red eyes reflecting his silent question.

(E/C) eyes softened with understanding, a small, fond smile gracing your lips as you said, "It's okay if you aren't ready yet. And I won't say a thing either."

"But—" The scientist tried to protest, but you cut him off with a shake of your head.

"I've already waited three thousand years," you teased, (e/c) eyes twinkling with laughter. "What's a couple more going to do?"

"You're ridiculous, did you know that?" Senku rolled his eyes, but his face was relaxed as a weight was lifted off his shoulders.

You stuck your tongue out at the teen, earning another eye roll for your childishness. It didn't take long before the playful banter between the two of you faded as the scientist returned to the matter at hand.

Red-eyes shone with gratitude as the green-haired teen lifted his hand to tuck a stray piece of (h/c) hair behind your ear, his mouth twisted into an affectionate smile, "Thank you, (Name)."

"What for?" You questioned even though you knew what he meant.

Chuckling, Senku leaned forward, and the corners of your lips curled with contentment against his as the two of you kissed softly; just simply basking in each other's presence instead of the deep longing felt from earlier on.

The kiss lasted for another second before both of you separated and gazed into each other's eyes as though seeing the other person for the first time. And maybe, in a way, it was. Even though it wasn't exactly quite the love confession that you hoped for, you wouldn't have it another way.

The following day, first thing in the morning, the villagers got to work on rebuilding Ishigami Village; the air filled with the sounds of working tools and loud chatters. Meanwhile, the rest of you were gathered in front of the laboratory to discuss the next step that the Kingdom of Science was going to take against the ongoing war with the Tsukasa Kingdom.

"What are you going to do now?" Gen asked, "Tsukasa-chan's finally about to find out that you're alive."

Scratching his ear, said scientist replied, "Yeah, and he'll also figure out that we can't produce the gunpowder for guns fast enough."

"Wait, we can't?" Ginro piped up in confusion while Kaseki added, "What do you mean?"

Seeing the puzzled looks on everyone's face, Senku began to explain, "Listen up. The revival fluid that Tsukasa's guys have been cranking out is actually pretty easy to make. But we haven't revived a single statue. And that's because we don't have the nitric acid we need. We could make some from dung or sea shells, but it'd take an insane amount and too much time. No nitric acid means no gunpowder, either."

"And Tsukasa is smart enough to figure that out easily," You mumbled as realization dawned upon you.

Senku nodded his head in agreement before letting out a self-deprecating laugh, "Additionally, we don't even have any leftovers in our gunpowder supply."

Other than Gen and you, no one understood a single word that the scientist just said as they stared blankly at him.

Folding her arms, there was a small frown on Kohaku's face as she narrowed her eyes, "There's so much science lingo, I'm not quite following..."

"Break it down more simply, would you?!" Kaseki demanded, his lips twisted into an annoyed scowl.

Sighing, the scientist repeated what he said but in simpler terms so that the villagers could understand him, "I'm trying to say that even if we have guns, he knows we can't really use them. And knowing Tsukasa, he'll have a full army built up, ready for a huge invasion."

"The more time passes, the more fighters they have, after all..." Gen added with a grim smile, "Which doesn't apply to our gunpowder."

"S-So what are we gonna do?!" Ginro cried, green eyes filled with worry.

Grinning, Senku answered, "That should be obvious. We attack them first. With one of our fun scientific inventions."

"I agree," Kohaku scoffed, sapphire-blue eyes shining with determination. "Waiting will put us at a disadvantage. So the only option is to strike first."

"We've gotta put that weapon of science together first, though," Senku chuckled at the blonde's enthusiasm.

(E/C) eyes shone with curiosity as you turned to the green-haired teen, your head tilted slightly, "What is this weapon you're talking about?"

The scientist let out a low, mysterious laugh before his trademark smirk tugged on the corners of his lips and ruby-red eyes glimmered with exhilaration, "Go ahead and cry tears of joy! It's time to break out the real modern tech! The scientific advancements we've recreated from the stone age will finally reach all the way into modernity! This is the stuff that won wars in modern times. The strongest weapon in two million years of human history..."

"You...don't mean nukes, do you?" Gen stammered, his expression morphed into one of nervousness as he sweat-dropped.

Scowling, Senku replied bluntly, "Nope."

"if it's not bombs, then what can it be?" You questioned with furrowed brows as you racked your brain for an answer, but nothing came to mind.

"The strongest weapon in two million years of human history...communications technology," the green-haired teen explained, "We're gonna make cellular phones, right here in the stone world!"

While both you and the mentalist had your jaws dropped wide open in shock with incredulity written all over your faces, the rest wore blank looks, "Cell...ular...phones?"

"A cellular phone?" A new voice joined, and it was none other than Magma, who overheard the group's conversation, questioning with a small frown, "What's that? Some kind of fish?"

He wasn't the only one as the rest of the village came forward, a mix of curiosity and interest painting their faces as they gathered around Senku who started to explain what a cellular device was.

The villagers were filled with a sense of scepticism after hearing what the scientist said, turning to one another with wide, disbelieving eyes as they started talking.

"From a distance?"

"So you can talk to someone...from really far away?"

"That is definitely sorcery!"

"Is such a thing really possible?!"

Meanwhile, Kaseki and Chrome were brimming with excitement, basically salivating at the thought of being able to build this cellular phone as the scientist called it, "Oh man! I wanna know how that works!"

Still doubtful, Kohaku turned to Senku with furrowed brows and asked, "And that'll be our weapon?"

Amused by the villagers' reaction, said scientist grinned, "You bet it will. Communications can completely turn the tide in a battle. Suppose we have a double agent who leaks intel to us in real time...If we coordinate our efforts the right way, we might be able to dismantle the Tsukasa Empire without bloodshed."

"But who would be our double agent?" Ginro questioned.

You and Senku exchanged knowing looks with each other before you raised your head to the sky, a
