Amy went and picked the children up from Elizabeth and Daniel's, Annie wanted them to meet their new cousin.

"Grandma, where's mommy?" Anthony asked as they walked the long corridor, "daddy too, is he working?"

Amy smiled, "something like that, Aunt Annie and Uncle Derek's baby is here,we're going to go see them" she explained Harper babbling from the stroller, "Daddy will be home soon" she didn't dare mention Kim in case Adam wasn't able to get through to her.

"Is the baby a boy or another stinky girl!" Anthony asked, "girls are boring"

Harper oblivious to his rant, "it's a boy, his name is Drew" she pushed the stroller into the room, Anthony running to Derek.

"Hey my man, what's up?" Derek asked lifting him in his arms, he loved that little boy so much and dreaded the day Adam and Kim told him about the accident.

Adam sat on the table in front of Kim, "don't say anything just listen, please?" He asked softly his arm in a sling, his eye bruised and swollen.

"I'm sorry" she whispered, he put his hand up.

"Kim, please. Just listen" he grabbed her hand, "my father reminded me of something last night, we finished up in the emergency room and he suggested that we stopped by to check on Annie's baby. I didn't want to, I just wanted to get drunk" he hung his head "which happened eventually but he made me think, he asked me about the night of the accident, the night Anthony was born. He reminded me of how angry I was and I how I tried to shut everyone out, and I did. Everyone but you, and even then I refused to do anything for my little boy, shit it was weeks before he had a name. I hated myself for what happened to Wendy, that I had feelings for you. You pulled me out of the hole I dug for myself,you didn't let me give up on my boy or love. You saved me, and I think it's time I returned the favor" he wiped his eye, "I know you're scared, and that you feel helpless, but you are the most important person in my life. I need you it doesn't matter if you never regain all the strength and feeling back in your legs. I don't care, I love you and will be by your side always"

Kim touched his face, "baby, I love you too. I can't come home though, not after what I did last night" she told him, "I just need some time"

Adam was flabbergasted, "time? For what, what about the kids?" He stood up dropping her hand from his, "you've got to be shitting me, please come home"

Kim pulled her legs to her chest, hugging them "Adam, please just go" she knew she was  hurting him yet again, she finally broke down into sobs, "I'm sorry..."

Adam rushed back towards her, "Darlin', please don't cry. It's okay, we are okay. Last night was nothing, I know you're scared and I won't lie, I am too. I want you to be happy again, to feel whole again. I need you, I can't do this alone and I don't think you can either" he kissed her, he leaned back as she climbed into his lap.

They finally parted, she rested her forehead on his, "you promise me that if taking care of the kids and me becomes too much you'll say something?" She held his face in her hands, "I don't ever want to hurt you again, I love you"

"It's never to much, you're my everything. Come home with me, please?" He whispered.

"How about we make use of this room, first. What do you say?" She asked him.

He removed the sling "Absolutely" he smiled as he lifted her in his arms.

"Be careful, your hand" she said as he lifted her.

"It's fine" he smiled.

Annie stared at the clock it was nearly two and she still hadn't heard anything about Adam, "Derek, do you think something happened to him? It's not like him to not show up to get the the  kids" she loved seeing Harper's reaction to Drew, "I'm gonna kick his ass once I see him"

"You're gonna kick my ass?" Adam laughed from the doorway, "you sure about that?" He asked, his good arm wrapped around Kim supporting her as she walked, "I'm sorry I worried you" he helped Kim into a chair, "where's my nephew?"

"He's sleeping, I can have the nurse get him " Derek excused himself and went to the nurses station.

"You two okay?" Annie asked.

"We are" Kim told her, "I was having a major pity party, and screwed up but I love your brother and he's not getting rid of me that easily"

"You just missed the kids, Amy brought them to see Drew. It was adorable watching Harper with him, Anthony didn't seem all that interested. Derek ended up taking him to the playground for a little bit, he was bored."

"We will catch up with them later, I'm sorry I wasn't here sooner. Things have been a bit crazy for me" Kim apologized.

"It's okay. Adam, thank you for being so kind to Derek yesterday it meant the world to him" Annie explained, smiling when Derek returned with Drew.

"Can I have him please" Kim asked as she reached for Drew.

"Sure, Hey Adam" Derek greeted him, "Anthony's a great little athlete, you should sign him up for football"

"Kevin's got him on a basketball kick right now. I'm not sure if mom can handle football" he smiled, "I would love for him to play though"

"My god Annie, he's precious" she leaned in and smelled his hair, "he's amazing, he's got that baby smell. I think I can hear my ovaries screaming for a baby now"

Adam lifted Drew from her arms, "we can't have that, here take him back" he laughed.

Seth entered the bar, "excuse me, I'm looking for the guy who worked last night, will he be in today?" He asked, his orbital bone fractured. He took a business card out, and handed it to him, "he needs to call me ASAP, it's about something he witnessed"

The bartender took the card, "oh, yea the fight last night, that was you?" He asked as he wiped the bar down. "The other guy is a cop, right?"

Seth nodded, "yes, do you know him?"

"Yea, last name is Ruzek. His wife's family is pretty big here, lots of money" he rubbed his index finger and thumb together, "I know his wife had a suite upstairs but she's since checked out, not before she trashed the room" he tossed the towel over his shoulder, "she left money though"

"Really?" Seth asked "well, please have him call me when he gets in" there was no way in hell he would drop this now, not with so much cash on the line.

"You got it, you're staying in the hotel?" He asked

"I'm in room 814. Thanks!"

He knew having a last name made his attorney's job that much easier, he called and spoke with him, pleased to find out that Ruzek would be served with papers within days.

"You ready?" Adam asked Kim, "the kids are dying to see you"

"I'm dying to see them too" she handed Drew to Adam, "he's perfect Annie".

Adam placed Drew in the bassinet, "he's a Ruzek of course he's perfect" he laughed.

"Hey now, he's got Madison genes too" Derek chimed in.

"Yea, we all have our faults, right?" Adam laughed shaking Derek's hand, "welcome to the family"

"Thank you. I appreciate you giving me a chance Adam, I won't screw this up" he told him.

"You better not, I will kick your ass if you hurt my sister or nephew" Adam told him, "they deserve the best of you and that's what they better get"

"They will"

"Will you get the kids, I don't want to see your parents. They must think I'm horrible" Kim said as they parked in the drive way of his dad's house.

"They don't think that, I'm sorry I told them. I had to explain this" he said holding the his broken hand up "to them, and to be honest I needed to tell someone, but trust me they don't think your horrible"

"Please Adam, I'm not ready to face them" she told him, "I will see them soon enough, just not now"

"Alright, I won't be too long" he leaned over and kissed her cheek, "I'm happy you decided to come home with me" he told her "I will be right back"

Kim smiled when she spotted Anthony running towards Adam's truck, "Mommy!!" He yelled "I misseded you" smiling, "grandpa let me eat donuts before lunch, not daddy's daddy but your daddy. He told me not to tell"

"I think you just did, but it's okay buddy" she smiled, feeling uneasy as Bob and Amy followed behind Adam who held a sleeping Harper in his arms, "Hi Bob, Amy. Thanks for keeping them"

"Don't thank us, we love having them. We're just glad you're okay. Please, let us help out, don't be afraid to ask. You know I'm home all day" Amy told her having just retired, "I'm losing my mind being home all day, it would be nice to have somewhere to go"

She watched as Adam put the kids in their seats, "I just want you to know, I love your son so much, last night was a massive mistake. I was a mess and let my insecurities and fears take over, it won't happen again"

Bob leaned inside the truck, "Kim stop, you saved my boy and my grandson and I know how much you love him. We all have our moments where we need help, this just happens to be yours. Let Adam help you, the way you helped him four years ago" he smiled "almost five" he looked over at Anthony, "I can't believe he'll be five in just weeks"

"Don't remind me, he starts school soon" Kim patted his leg, "mommy's big boy, huh"

As they pulled away Adam spoke, "I'm sorry. They just followed me, I think they assumed you felt awkward and they wanted to put an end to it"

"It's okay, at least it's out of the way. It was silly of me to think they would be upset with me, they're amazing."

Later that night, Kim couldn't believe how close she came to throwing it all away, "Adam? Are you awake?"

"Yea, why?" He rolled on to his side, "what is it?"

Kim could feel a tear roll down her cheek, "I am so sorry, that I let that man put his hands on me, I kept telling myself to stop him. I don't know why I didn't but I never wanted to hurt you like that, never wanted to be that person. I don't want to be the reason you're hurting"

He grabbed her, "I won't lie, it killed me. I've never felt so hurt in my life, but I know you regret it and that nothing happened between you two. Let's just forget it, yea?" He rubbed her back.

Seth was walking on air, his attorney had called to let him know one Adam Ruzek would be served sometime today, he had already figured out how he would spend his settlement.

Adam had just gotten out of the shower when the doorbell rang,he quickly dried off "I'm coming" he called out.

"Don't worry, I got it" Kim told him, her legs feeling better than they had in months, not a hundred percent but she felt a definite improvement, leading her to believe that maybe the PT was working after all, "can I help you?" She asked the man standing at the door.

"I'm looking for Adam Ruzek, is he here?"

"He is, but he just got out of the shower. I'm his wife can I help you with something?" She asked, the man looked official.

"No, sorry. I need to see Mr.Ruzek" he told her, "I will wait"

Adam came up behind Kim, "what's going on?" He asked.

"Are you Adam Ruzek?" He asked again.

"Yea, who are you?" Adam asked moving in front of Kim, her hand landing on his back.

He pulled the papers from his back pocket "Adam Ruzek, you've been served" he jammed the papers in Adam's hand, "have a good day"

Adam sucked his teeth, "yea, you too" he said sarcastically, "what the hell is it now" he asked, "I swear this family is never boring"

He sat on the couch and opened the envelope, "Fuck me" he whispered, "that guy from the bar, his name Seth?" He asked Kim.

"Yes, why?"

"He's suing me" Adam told her "pain and suffering, medical bills, hotel stay. Pretty much anything he can think of, son of bitch." He tossed the papers on the coffee table.

"I can't believe he's here" Annie whispered as she watched Drew sleep in the crib in their bedroom, "we really need to start looking for another place" Drew's things already taking over the room, "my sister in law went a little overboard, don't you think?" She asked Derek pointing to the piles of clothes, she didn't think he would ever wear it all.

"We will start looking soon, we need to save some first" Derek told her, "once I start the new job it will be a lot easier to save, and yes Kim went overboard. She's always does though, look at all the crap her kids have"

"I hope they're really okay, she still seemed off" Annie remarked, "but my brother seems  to have made a 180 when it comes to you" she smiled.

"He did. Though, he threatened bodily harm if I hurt you or Drew. I told him he has nothing to worry about, you two mean the world to me"

"What are we gonna do? This is all my fault" Kim said as she read the papers.

"It's not your fault, I shouldn't have hit him" Adam grabbed his wallet, "will you be okay? I want to take these to the district, see what Voight suggests"

"What do you mean?" She wasn't sure she liked his idea, Hank Voight wasn't always the most ethical man.

"Nothing, don't worry. Just call me if you need anything" he bent down and kissed her, "it's going to be fine, don't beat yourself up over it."
