"Y/N, good. I need to talk to you."

You were too shocked to respond to him, staring at the man in front of you. H-How was he here? Why was he here?! This couldn't be real, you had to be dreaming right? You were just frozen in shock until he impatiently crossed his arms, snapping you out of it. "B-But I have school." You tried, not wanting to speak to him at all, but he just dropped his arms to his sides with an annoyed look.

"Does it look like I care? Go put on your shoes and come."

Not knowing what else to do, you just nodded and sat down, starting to put on your shoes that were standing by the door. You tried your best but you were trembling slightly, making it almost impossible to put them on.

"HURRY!" Your dad yelled, making you flinch violently and rush to finish.

Once you had them on your dad roughly grabbed your upper arm and dragged you out the door with him. You barely had the chance to even close the door before he walked down the path with you in tow.

"Where are we going?" Your voice was weak and timid, with you being close to tears.

For the past three years, you thought you were rid of him. He had walked out of you and your mom's life and never contacted even once. And life was better for it. The way he used to treat his family was horrendous. Shouting and cussing you out, abusing both you and your mom. It took a long time for the scars to heal, and the emotional ones weren't quite there yet. It was the reason you were jumpy. Why you flinched when people yelled or made too sudden a movement. And now, here he was, dragging you with him by your arm to go god knows where.

He never answered you and just kept walking at a brisk pace, his tight hold on your arm only worsening, leading you to believe it would definitely bruise.

Eventually, you reached a street and he stopped right next to a silver car, finally letting go of your arm. "Get in, you're gonna help me."

"What? No, I don't want to." Your heart was hammering out of your chest in fear, unsure of what the hell he wanted you for.

"I don't give a shit. Get in."

"W-Why?"

He let out a loud, disappointed sigh – as if chastising you for asking questions – but he answered nonetheless. "I got into some troubles with my bosses but if you work with me, I'll easily work off my debt for sure." His eyes were hard while the corner of his lips was quirked up. Your eyes widened and you took an instinctive step back, making his smile fall and turn into an angry frown. "Don't you dare run away!" He hissed and made a grab for your arm again, only for you to wordlessly call out your Stand and block it.

Suddenly hitting an invisible wall, your father's wrist rolled to the side, making him yell out in pain and cradle his arm.

You immediately took the opportunity and ran. He was standing in front of the way you two came so you only had one way to go. As fast as you could, you sprinted away and by the sound of it, your dad was not far behind, going in pursuit.

The street seemed like it was going on forever, no way to duck into a side-street or alley to try and lose your pursuer, just one straight strip that you had no choice but to follow, running as fast as you could. You risked a look back and saw he was about ten meters behind you, making you yelp slightly and press to run even faster.

Finally the street came to an end and upon turning the corner, you spotted a sight that made your heart lift with hope. Jotaro was casually walking along the empty street. His hands shoved in his pockets while his back was turned to you.

With the devil on your tail, you sprinted over to him and grabbed onto his arm. He looked down with an angry look, going to pull his arm away in disgust when you looked up at him with pleading eyes. With heaving breaths to try and get your stamina back, you frantically clung to the fabric of his sleeve, not knowing what to do except whisper. "Help me..."

"Y/N!" Your dad called out and slowed down when he saw you next to the tall boy, coming to a stop in front of him.

Jotaro turned to look back upon hearing your name be called to see who it was while you jumped and let go of his sleeve, going to partially hide behind him as you looked at your approaching dad.

"Y/N what are you doing? Why did you run away like that all of a sudden?" His tone was sickeningly concerned sounding, making you panic slightly as you realized what he was doing and how convincing he actually sounded. "Young man, I'm really sorry, I don't know what's got into her all of a sudden." He chuckled slightly and you fearfully looked up at Jotaro only to see him squint at your father, almost as if he was sizing him up.

"Who're you?" Jotaro simply asked and your dad seemed a bit taken aback by the rude tone of voice. A wave of relief washed over you as you saw that Jotaro was a bit mistrusting and not willing to immediately hand you back to your father, giving you a bit of much needed confidence.

"Why- I'm her father. We were just on our way to school when she suddenly jumped out of the car and ran away."

"That's not-!" You started but were silenced when Jotaro put his arm in front of you to keep you back, effectively shutting you up.

"I've never seen her come to school by car."

Your father visibly paled at that statement, muttering a weak. "Wait so you know her?" He had clearly been banking on the fact that you never really had many friends and thus didn't expect to run into someone that not only you knew, but actually knew you as well. Let alone a monster of a man like Kujo. He was silent for a second longer before he shook his head and angrily puffed out his chest, taking a step forward. "Now listen here, you just hand my daughter back to me. This doesn't concern you!" The venom practically dripped from his voice and you instinctively cowered away a little, remembering what followed all the times he had spoken to you like that.

Jotaro noticed your action from the corner of his eye, an anger growing in him as he turned back to your 'dad'. "Go away. We have to get to school." His voice was dangerously calm as he stared down at the man in front of him before turning his back. Turning you around by your shoulders and shoving you a little to start walking, he just ignored your dad and made you walk with him.

"You two teens better stop right. Now!" Your dad threatened and your shoulders stiffened, almost making you retreat into yourself like a turtle while Jotaro once again had his hands in his pockets, as if nothing was going on.

Suddenly, you felt your wrist get grabbed and you were yanked back. You stood your ground however and pulled back just as hard. "Let go!"

The moment you disappeared from his vision, Jotaro turned around to see you stuck in your father's grasp. Without any hesitation, he pulled his fist up and smashed it into the face of your sad sack of excuse for a dad.

The force of the punch sent the man airborne and he was forced to let go of your wrist, landing on the pavement with a hard smack.

You gasped in fright, not expecting the quick action but Jotaro had already turned around again and you quickly ran to catch up to him, leaving your dad lying in the street – not knowing what else to do.

It was silent between the two of you for a while. Too lost in thought as to what just happened and what your dad would have almost done to you.

When you felt you had finally calmed down enough, you shot a glance at Jotaro real quick before looking forward again. "Thank you, Kujo..." You practically muttered that out but he seemed to have heard.

"Don't mention it. And call me Jotaro." He pulled his hat over his eyes as he said that and the faintest of smiles returned to your face.

"Thank you then, Jotaro."

He just let out a small hum as the two of you continued walking in silence. You weren't exactly sure where the two of you were, not knowing this part of the city, so you just followed Jotaro like a lost puppy. Which you kind of were.

"Who was that man?" Jotaro suddenly spoke up and your expression shifted from calm-ish, to uncomfortable within a second. You looked up to see Jotaro looking down at you and you looked forward again, holding your upper arm where your dad had grabbed you and rubbing it softly.

"He really was my dad... But I want nothing to do with him!" You started softly before interrupting yourself, getting angry for having to call him your dad. "He's supposed to be out of me and my mom's life!"

"Shitty dad, huh?" Bringing out a cigarette, Jotaro lit it and started smoking while you scoffed at his statement.

"Shitty? Are you kidding me? You saw him just now. He was basically trying to kidnap me only to sell me out to some random men!" You were getting more and more worked up, flailing your hands around slightly.

"He was going to sell you?" Jotaro looked down at you, slightly surprised at your sudden outburst more so than the information. He had never seen you even the slightest bit angry, so this was new.

"Sort of. He definitely wanted me to work away his debt. And I don't think he'd care how that was done. Thank god you came around when you did."

Jotaro hummed again, almost sounding as if he agreed but you just shook your head, letting out a deep sigh to calm down as the two of you continued walking.

"You forgot your book bag."

"GODAMN-"

"Don't worry, you can borrow mine. I'm not going to use them anyways." Jotaro put his hand on your head, pushing it down to stop you from continuing your yelling spree and blow his ears out. While you didn't see it, there was a small smile on his face before he shoved his bag into your arms.

"Is this just a way for me to carry your bag?" You teasingly raised an eyebrow.

"As if. Be grateful I'm lending them to you, bitch." He refused to look at you and just kept on smoking, making you giggle.

This was the first time in a long while you actually felt a little bit like yourself around another person.

"Hey, wait a second. I recognize this road! Do I recognize this road?" You broke the silence that had been lingering as you looked upon the scene in front of you.

"Yare, yare, of course you do, woman. You walk here every day on your way too school."

"Really? It looks so different though." You had your hand on your chin in thought as you inspected the road, now recognizing it as the road on the hill that you indeed walked to school on.

"That's because you're walking with me this time."

Jotaro sighed as you bounded forward ahead of him, looking both ways on the street before walking across at a fast pace and turning around on the other side to wait for him.

"Are you coming or what?!" You called out from the other side with a grin, making Jotaro pull his hat down to hide his eyes.

"Yare, yare." He muttered to himself before starting to cross, seeing as no cars were coming. "You're already late for school, stop being in such a hurry."

You flashed him a smile in response as he reached the curb where you were waiting. Just as you were about to start walking again, the sound of an engine revving roared through the air and your head snapped up to see a silver car speed around the corner.

The tires squealed as the vehicle drifted until it was facing both of the teens, immediately going full speed again.

Your eyes widened as you crossed gazes with your dad behind the wheel. His face was swollen from when Jotaro had punched him and there was a crazed look in his eyes as he went in to ram the two of you – or more specifically, Jotaro.

"Jotaro!" You called out to him and stretched out your hand to reach for the boy. He was too far away however and you immediately called out your Stand, having it grab the back of his collar and yank him back with all its might towards you, while holding her shield up for the incoming car.

The impact of the speeding vehicle into the shield shook your entire being, the shockwave leaving your arm a sore and tingling mess as you tried to hold your ground. You could have sworn something else impacted with the hood of the car to stop it but you had no time to think about it for the force of the move sent a wave of impact around, blowing both you and Jotaro backwards.

The delinquent slammed into you and you felt yourself fall backwards. The back of your legs hit the low railing that stood around the entire hill and together with Jotaro, you tumbled over and started rolling down the steep slope of the hill.

In a blind panic you tried to reach for anything to stop yourself from falling but the only thing close was Jotaro. You just held onto his clothing and your Stand came out to protect both his- as well as your own- head from hitting the ground, using her shield.

In a mad tumble of limbs and speed, the two of you rolled downhill without any sign of stopping. Branches, pebbles and bushes nicked you on the way down with each hard slam into the ground where you tanked not only your own, but Jotaro's weight as well. Although with each tumble, you noticed Jotaro was taking them more and more, almost as if he was trying to keep you from taking the brunt of the fall.

You didn't have any time to think about it though as you both suddenly landed on an uneven part, sending you spinning out of control again. Jotaro grunted slightly in pain as he landed on his ribs and before you knew it, an overwhelming and burning pain flooded through your system as you felt a sharp edge of something penetrate through the skin and flesh of your lower back.

You didn't even have time to scream or call out in pain when there was the sound of cracking like stone and you both continued falling as if nothing happened.

After a second or two more, you both hit the flat ground below the hill. Hard.

Jotaro was on top of you and slowly got up until he was leaning on his elbows, shaking his head slightly to get rid of the daze. After a second he realized the position he was in and quickly sat up on his knees.

"Oi! You two kids okay?! That was quite the tumble, what happened?!" A passerby who had witnessed the event came jogging over but Jotaro ignored him as he saw your pained expression.

"Y/N, where?" He asked, straight to the point and you shakily moved your hand to your lower back, not even finding it in yourself to speak, shout or cry in pain. As you shakily moved your hand back from it, your fingers were coated in blood. Jotaro immediately snatched your wrist and looked at it, his eyes widening upon seeing the crimson. A small gasp could be heard from the bystander and Jotaro looked up with a glare. "Call an ambulance."

"Right away!" The bystander obeyed with a frantic nod while Jotaro dropped your wrist, leaning forward and grasping your shoulders. With a supporting hand around your midriff, he moved you into a sitting position, making sure you only moved your hip and not your back, before glancing down at it over your shoulder.

"Shit." He muttered.

In the lower part of your back was now lodged a broad, thin rock. It spanned the entire surface, running from one hip, over your spine to the other hip. While the rock, and therefore the cut, was thin, it was broad and lodged in quite well and possibly deep.

In the background, the bystander was panicked and describing what happened while you were just focused on your breath, it being the only thing you could do. Jotaro's shirt was bunched in your hand as you clenched your fist tightly.

And in all the time you waited for the ambulance to arrive, Jotaro stayed put by your side, not even moving a muscle as he looked up the hill the entire time; where the smoke from the wrecked car was visible.
