The day of the solstice arrives. Loki wakes up next to me and his emerald eyes shine into mine. "Good morning, my lovely," he whispers. I hum in response, too tired to say anything. He rises out of the bed but I latch my hand onto his wrist. "Silly darling. You do realize we have to get ready for our wedding, right?" He asks.
"Five more minutes. I won't be able to see you for the whole day."
"Oh, alright," he smiles, getting back into bed with me. He lies next to me for a few moments, playing with my hair. "I'm excited for tonight, lovely," he whispers. I nod and kiss him on the nose. We lie there for a few minutes more until a knock comes at the door. I groan in frustration. "Prince Loki? Princess Azalena? I've come to collect you both for wedding preparations," Ylvana says behind the door. Loki rolls out of bed and drags me with him. "We're up!" He shouts.
Ylvana comes in and sees me still half asleep, draped on Loki's shoulder. "Oh, dear. I think I need to dunk a bucket of ice on her," she says. My eyes widen and I quickly stand ramrod straight. "No! No you don't!" I say. Ylvana and Loki both smile. A mischievous grin sprouts on Loki's face and I see the tip of his finger turn turquoise. He touches me gently and I shiver. "You are such a cheater," I laugh.
"Well if ice won't wake you--"
"Yes, yes I get it. Now doesn't Ylvana need to get me ready?" I ask. She blushes and replies, "Yes, yes I do. Out you go, Your Highness." She gestures to Loki who reluctantly leaves. The door shuts behind him and Ylvana titters into the bathroom. "Come on, you need to bathe. Breakfast will be brought up here today," she says. I nod in response as I smell a floral scent emitting from the bathroom. I walk into the bathroom and see a bubble filled bath decorated with rose petals. "In you go, milady."
I soak in the bath for a bit, Ylvana washing my hair with the lavender scented shampoo. The bath finishes after my skin is exfoliated and smooth, and she dries my hair easily. I step out into a silk dress just in time for Sparrow to bring up breakfast. I have a simple meal of some fruits, sausages and pancakes with some exotic juices. I don't eat too much, just until I'm satisfied.
Queen Frigga comes in after my hair is styled. "Good, you're ready for the dress. I'll have Cinna be brought up here with it, and then we shall do your makeup, yes?" I nod and she leaves as quickly as she came. I pull out a book and begin reading to occupy my time. Then Queen Frigga arrives with Cinna. He's holding the dress with a veil and a tiara attached with emerald jewels. Sparrow is holding some light golden heels. "Let's do your makeup first," Queen Frigga says.
Sparrow and Ylvana dust at my face and place lipstick on me before they're satisfied. Then Queen Frigga claps her hands. "Time for the dress!"
They all help me out of the silk dress and into the ballgown. The thing is itchy so Queen Frigga uses her magic to soothe it. Honestly, is there anything she can't do? Sparrow and Ylvana hold the hems of the dress up as I step carefully into the heels. Queen Frigga delicately places the veil on my styled hair while Ylvana picks up the train. "That was chosen by Loki for you, you know," she smiles. I turn pink. "I'll have to thank him later."
There are two girls waiting outside in white dresses. One of them I recognize--Asta, the other I am introduced to, her name is Fera. They pick up my train as I walk downstairs. Before I make my grand entrance, Queen Frigga hands me a giant flower bouquet. "These were picked from my garden by me, dear. You can keep these," she smiles. "Thank you, Queen Frigga," I reply.
"We're family now, remember? Call me Mama Frigga."
I nod and she wipes a forming tear away, being careful not to smudge the makeup. "You have made my son very happy. As I have done with Loki, I give you my blessing for an eternity of happiness," she smiles. Her hand glows golden and she touches my forehead. "Thank you, Mama," I return the affections. She walks out before me to the altar where Loki is waiting.
I walk down the aisle, surrounded by waiting watchful eyes. My father is here along with Jimena. He looks proud. I couldn't give a damn about what he thinks. Along with him and Jimena, the Alfheim royal court is here. I also notice that the Vanir royal court is here; I remember Loki telling me that Mama is Vanir. They must be visiting her.
I reach the aisle and I'm inches away from both Frigga and Loki. I hand the bouquet off to Lady Sif, who is the maid of honor here. I place my hands in Loki's, and the ceremony begins.
"Light Elves, Vanir, and Asgardians. We are here to both celebrate this year's solstice, and to celebrate the wedding of the Prince Loki and the Princess Azalena," Frigga smiles. She says the usual about the wedding and then summons a golden cord. "Let this golden cord symbolize the eternal love between you," she ties the cord on our wrists. It glows and then dissipates into sparkles. The congregation claps and cheers. "Prince Loki Odinson, do you take the Princess Azalena Leifedottir to be your eternally wedded wife in sickness and in health, in all the Nine Realms, to care for her, as long as you shall live?" Loki smiles at me and squeezes my hands. "I swear."
"Princess Azalena Leifedottir, do you take the Prince Loki Odinson to be your eternally wedded husband in sickness and in health, in all the Nine Realms, to care for him, as long as you shall live?"
"I swear."
Frigga smiles at both of us. "Then, by the power vested in me by the Norn Sisters, Skuld, Urd, and Verdandi, I pronounce you husband and wife, Princess and Prince of Asgard and Alfheim. You may now kiss to seal your marriage," she says. We don't hesitate to kiss and it's met with numerous cheers from everyone. Even Odin. Loki says only audible to me, "Finally, sweetheart."
