After your usual routine of making breakfast for your 3 teammates, you laid sprawled out on your belly on the cool floor of the temple living room while the others did their own things; steven and spinel watching cartoons in his loft while the gems were in the temple, doing whatever gem things they do in there.

It was actually a pretty peaceful day in the beach house, with the soft splashing of waves outside and the joyous cries of your two best friends playing with each other, you actually let yourself relax a bit, a grin curving your muzzle. Today might be looking good for today.

"Yo, (name)!"

You don't even need to open your eyes to know who it is, as you heard rapid footsteps approaching from the direction of the temple door, as the spunk in said voice was all too familiar to you. "Amethyst?" You crack an eye open to look up at the purple gem who had a hand pressed into your muzzle, leaning against you as she normally would when leaning against a wall. you sensed a mild apprehension around her, making you open both your eyes and lift your head in suspicion. she did her best to ignore the feeling of your narrowed eyes suddenly boring into her and gave a small giggle, though it sounded like more of a throat clearing cough. She casually sniffs and tried to play off her odd anxiousness. "I was wondering if it'd be okay if steven and spinel could come into my room for a bit? Hang out? Ya know?" You squinted your eyes slightly and curled the corner of your mouth into a thoughtful sneer. Hanging out in amethyst's room. seemed simple enough... But if I need to worry about anything in there, it would be the magnitude of junk that filled the purple gem's room. "...will amethyst keep her eye on steven and spinel?" You questioned, a conspiratorial growl in your tone which made her anxious aura rise, but she still tried to play it cool. "Pffft! Yeah, dude! Don't worry about it! Those two are in good hands... Just... Trust me on this. Give yourself a break, would ya?" you narrowed both eyes slightly, wrinkling your muzzle slightly in distrust. "Mmmph..." Well when hasn't anything gone wrong with a quote like that??

"Aw c'mon, (nickname)!"

You snap your head up to the loft, knocking amethyst off balance and causing her to fall face first into your chest fluff. You suck in your lower lip at the two little faces peering at you from the edge of the loft, with large pleading eyes. "Let us hang out amethyst for a bit!" steven said, puckering his lower lip. "Yeah! we promise we'll be extra careful in there!" Spinel added clasping her hands in front of her chest. Oh no. As you open your mouth to form a protest, they lean forward, putting on the most pitiful faces they could muster. "Pleeeeeeeeaase?"

You stared up at them for a few minutes, feeling your lip twitch.

Well... that's a cheap move.

You grunted, grunt loudly, prompting amethyst to jump to her feet and back up a few steps as you slid your paw beneath your bangs to pinch the bridge between your eyes. I can't believe I'm doing this. After which, you slid your paw down your muzzle, giving the purple gem a steely glare. "Ooookay... just be careful."

Almost instantly, amethyst lightens up, and pumps her fists into the air with a loud cheer. "Aw yeah! haha!" She then gestures to the young duo to follow her, to which they cheer excitedly. "Alright, (nickname), you're the best!" Cheers steven as spinel stretched her way off the loft to give you a tight hug. "Thank yoooou!" Steven runs down to give you a hug and 'thank you' following with a brief peck on the cheek before running towards amethyst's door, with spinel following clumsily after him.

"Come to (name) if anything bad happens." You advised, amethyst giving a slightly dismissive chuckle, patting your muzzle lightly, probably going for something reassuring, but for some reason, it came off as patronizing to you. "Don't worry, mama bear, everything will be fine!" With that reply, she runs to the temple door with a quick "you da best!" and ran in, with steven and spinel following her with cheerful 'whoo-hoo!'s, disappearing behind the blue doors.

You stared at the direction they had gone for several minutes before bringing a paw to your face into a silent facepalm.

"What are the consequences as to what (name) had just done...?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Phew! I was afraid she'd never let you two out of her range!"
Amethyst laughed, jogging deeper into her room, careful as to not trip over any junk that was carelessly laying around. "She's gotten real spazzy with you guys after what pearl pulled!" steven chuckled sheepishly with a little shrug. "Yeah she's... gotten a bit clingy, maybe... but she's just worried about us." he concluded matter-of-factly. "After all, we ARE her best friends! besides, this'll prove that you've all gotten more careful around us since that chat you had with her!"
Amethyst gave a nervous chuckle, and rubbed her arm. "I-I don't know dude. she kinda treats you guys like her own kids or cubs or... something. It's... kinda weird, isn't it?" Spinel only smiles happily, squishing her cheeks. "I think it's really swell with how she is with us!" she giggles, twirling in a near dreamy state. "Good ol' (name)! She's such a sweet gem, ain't she?" Amethyst bit her lip, remembering the steam that bellowed out from your jaws as your booming voice shaking the beach house like an earthquake. "Y-yeah. sweet like donuts." She replied with an uneasy edge in her voice. Steven didn't seem to notice it as he threw his hands up excitedly, stopping infront of the two gems. "Okay! So! What is the safest thing we could do in here?" Spinel looked down, bringing a hand to her chin as she looked around at the large number of puddles in the room. "Why not play in the puddles?"
Amethyst cracked a smile, rubbing her hands together eagerly. "Perfect!" she cackled mischievously. "Nothing dangerous about puddle jumpin'!" she then dashes even deeper into her room.
"Now come on, let's go find a good pile of stuff to jump from!"
