Friday, after school was our school carnival to raise money for next years scholarship fund. I got into this school with the scholarship fund, so, I plan on spending some money. Also, William was taking me, so I was excited. Anyways, it was during school on Friday, and I was walking with William to lunch, when I tripped and fell.

"You ok?" William asked, bending down to help me get up.

"Yeah," I replied, grabbing his arm, "my crutch just slipped."

"Oh. Well, you can take your boot off tomorrow right?" He asked, pulling me back into a standing position.

"Yeah! Finally." I said, continuing our walk over to lunch.

"The carnival is at 5:00 right?" He clarified.

"Yeah." I confirmed.

"So, I'm picking you up from your apartment? Right?" He asked, kind of nervously.

"Yes, don't be nervous." I said, elbowing him.

"I'm not nervous." He sort of laughed out.

"William, he's, he's like, Lin's my dad. You don't need to be nervous about my dad."

"Yes I do." He said, "that's exactly why I need to be nervous."

"Wait what?" I was confused.

"He's my girlfriends dad. I'm supposed to be nervous. Our first date, he kept tabs on me, he still does, he still texts me. Look!" He pulled out his phone as we sat down against the wall to eat.

(My wife's dropping her off this morning . Meet her at the door.)

(Ok. Ok. Going)

I laughed a little at Williams response.

(Be respectful.)

(I know I got it...)

(No kissing without permission, no touching above or below the waist. Oh... You got it? Hmmm... Ok. Be nice)

"This was all this morning." He said turning his phone off.

"Just... Don't call him sir."

"I'll think about it." He replied.

Lunch ended quickly, and the bell rang, I stood up to go to APUSH.

"Crap, I have to go to Spanish! You can get to class ok, right?" William asked, swinging his backpack on.

"Yeah! I'll be fine!" I said, grabbing my crutches.

"Ok, bye babe." He leaned over, kissed my cheek, then ran off to Spanish. I, however made my way over to APUSH. I got into class, and sat, per usual in the front, whilst Nick, Sam and Luke sat, per usual, in the back.

"Ok class." My teacher addressed us as the bell rang, "I'm sorry I couldn't be here yesterday but I had to be in Virginia for my sisters wedding, I hope the sub wasn't too boring. Anyways, I would like to begin working on our Hamilton presentations. We have a little more than a month before we go, and before I start to go over the general rules, we got another letter." She held up a piece of paper, "It's from Lin, he asks that I read this out loud. So, here goes.

Hey guys. So, I really loved getting to meet so many of you on Wednesday. However, there is a serious issue I need to address with your school.

I got kind of nervous, I knew exactly where this was going and I just wanted to leave.

While I would love for all of you to attend the performance, I cannot allow that. We have banned 3 students from your school, from both the student showing, and, for the time being, the premise of the Richard Rodgers.

I felt stared at. I knew everyone knew that it was because of me.

These students being banned was entirely legitimate. They were not banned due to a personal quarrel, but due to illegal actions they have taken, and for the protection of someone who is often in, or near the building. Please, do not blame Abigail for this. She had no say, and is just hearing this now with you. I made these choices to protect her.

I could feel the eyes of the class beating down upon me.

She has given all 3 of these students a second or even third chance, which has gotten her seriously hurt. If she were given the decision she would not hesitate to invite them to the show along with a backstage tour, and without regards to her own safety. I believe that we have tickets for the show are hard to come by, so, we will not be letting any of those 3 boys buy any. It is my prerogative and job as both the writer of Hamilton, and as Abigail's father, to protect Abi, and to ban someone from the show who I believe does not deserve to see it.

I was trying to slink back into my seat but it didn't work, anyone who wasn't looking at me before was now.

"The letter tells me who to ban and why, I'll talk to those people individually, but, really?" She set her paper down. "This reflects awfully on our school. They haven't had to ban anyone from any other schools, we have 3 kids banned. Also, the reasons they're banned for, make me fume. So, before any of you decide to do something incredibly stupid, think about this."

Class after that kind of sucked. My teacher told me that I was going to represent our school by answering "what does Hamilton mean to you?" Which I was a little nervous about, and also, Nick, Luke and Sam were all glaring at me from the back row. And I could feel it all period. All period.

The final bell rang in math and everyone around me left. I sat for about a minute before Lin came in. I got up to leave class awkwardly, but did it.

"How was school?" He asked, as we walked out of class.

"Fine." Wow, that's the most teenage thing I've done all day.

"You ok?"

"Yeah, tired, but fine."

"Alright. You just seem out of it."

"Yeah. I guess."

"Hey, you have your school, um, thing tonight right?"

"Our school carnival? Yeah." I nodded.

"Alright, well, that's fun, so, you'll be able to do that right!" I was out of it. I didn't know how to respond. I kind of just smiled and nodded.

Once home I went into my room and pretended to do homework. In reality I sat on the floor for about a half hour in silence, then I started crying and I couldn't stop. A million thoughts were racing through my head, and each one of them worse than the last. I started to doubt my voice, then my grades, then my appearance, my weight, if you could find a flaw on me I had processed it and cried about it. But for the love of god I couldn't understand why.

"Hey, hey." I heard my door creak open. "Listen, I know you're not doing homework I've heard you for the past half hour crying." I immediately stopped, "just, tell me what's wrong." Lin was standing in my doorway, and I was leaning against my bed.

"I don't know what's wrong. Something's wrong. Something's wrong with me." I choked out then started crying again.

"Hey," he came into my room and sat next to me, "nothing's wrong with you. Ok. I know it's tough to be in high school. You just think that everyone's better than you." I nodded, "well, you just have to find your lane and start running I guess." I awkwardly started nodding. "Listen, nothing's wrong with you. You're a teenage girl. You can do this, you really can, I know it's hard right now, but you're gonna get through this. Ok?" He asked.

"Ok." I said, giving up and resting my head on his shoulder.

William came at 5:00, when I was still getting ready to go. I giggled to myself because that means that he's trying to make small talk, and for all his strong points. He really sucks at that. I finally got my dress on, so I got out of my room and peeked in the living room, where William was awkwardly standing waiting for me.

"You can sit down." Lin said, randomly from the couch.

"I'm fine standing."

"No one is ever fine standing what's wrong with you?"

"I'm ok."

"Hi!" I came in, trying to break up the awkwardness that's was consuming the living room. "I'm ready to go!"

"Thank goodness" I heard William whisper under his breath. "Hi!" He came over to me.

"Alright! Have fun, don't like, die or, like do drugs or anything." Lin got off the couch, and gave me a hug. "Have fun mi niñita." He kissed the top of my head, and William and I left for the school carnival.
