As the days passed, you and Zim had come to form somewhat of a bond. He enjoyed knowing that someone else was interested in finding out more about Dib, even if it were for a different reason. Every time he tried to ask you why you had such an interest in the "big-headed pig" you would either change the subject or not respond at all. He figured the only way he would get the information out of you was through Irken technology.

All of these thoughts raced through Zim's mind as Ms. Bitters explained, once again, how the system fails the people. She stalked around the class during her lesson.

"And what does the government do to improve schools?" She cranked her head back a forth, building up suspense. "Nothing!"

You sighed and leaned back in your desk. How did she even become a teacher? She doesn't teach! You thought to yourself. The only thing you had learned from her class is that the world is likely doomed. Could you really even consider that learning though? Everyone already knows that.

Dib raised his hand and shook it frantically. "Ms. Bitters?"

"No, you cannot go to the bathroom. You went last month!" She hissed at him.

He scrunched his face in confusion. "Uh, no I wasn't asking to go to the bathroom. I just wanted to point out the fact that the government is failing us because they aren't doing enough to stop the alien threats! I've sent the president twenty letters already about creating a Space Force and he has yet to-"

"Dib! Detention after school for talking for longer than five seconds in my class!" She slithered around his desk. A chill went down your spine as she passed you to get to him. "Now, no more interruptions."

Dib groaned, clearly frustrated with the amount of detentions he had racked up this school year already. That's the exact reason why you stayed quiet in class. The last thing you wanted was to be stuck with the monster of a teacher for another hour.

The bell rang, signaling the start of Physical Education. After changing into your P.E. attire, you met up with your class again on the baseball field. Dib walked up next to you with his arms crossed.

"Five bucks I'm the last one picked again." He joked.

You cracked a smile and shook your head playfully at the boy. "Either you or Zim, who appears to have no idea what's going on." You waved Zim over, but he refused once he spotted Dib next to you.

Dib laughed at the alien. "He's holding the bat the wrong way. Even I know how to hold a bat! I should at least be the second to last pick. Now, if we're talking basketball, I might as well be on the sidelines."

Your smile remained on your face as you remembered last week's game of basketball. Zim and Dib went head to head for most of the game, fouling each other intentionally even when they didn't have the ball. They both ended up in detention after school and had to recite the rules of basketball for an hour.

Dib grinned mischievously to himself, seeing how his plan to befriend you was working. Once he got close enough to you, he would be able to find out if you were an alien or not.

You left his side once you got picked for a team. Zim ended up being the second to last to be picked and joined your team. And, just like Dib had predicted, he was the last one to be picked. Zim noticed Dib gave you a playful glance and a shrug as he ran off into the outfield.

"What's going on between you and the Dib-stink?" He questioned, feeling a strange emotion bubble inside of him.

You looked over to Zim and caught on to his upset expression. "Huh? Oh, nothing. We were just joking about how bad he is at sports. Why? Is that a problem with you?"

"Pfft, what? Zim has no problem! Zim simply wanted answers as to why you were being so nice to the enemy." He waved it off. "Now tell Zim!"

"What you need to be worried about is the correct way to hold the bat." You roll your eyes playfully and pick up the bat, since you were the next one to hit. You pointed it at him. "He may be your enemy, but I have nothing against him. Remember?"

Zim scoffed, but watched closely as you swung at the ball. He didn't like the feeling he got in his squeedily spooch. What about you made him... well feel? The only emotions he had ever known were anger and pride. And yet, around you things were different. The only explanation he could come up with was that his brain needed to know whatever secret you were hiding. Yes, that's it! Zim was just curious. He needed answers and he was going to get them.

After school, you began walking home. Zim claimed he was too busy for your usual after school investigation session. You shrugged it off. You had your own research to do anyway. Zim scurried past you, giving you a quick "goodbye" as he made his way to his base.

His robot parents opened the door for him the moment he arrived. "Welcome home, son."

Zim pushed in between them and called out to his robot minion. "Gir! Come here at once! I have a mission for you."

The blue and gray robot left a trail of destruction behind him as he ran up to his master. "Yes sir!"

Zim walked around the defective SIR unit and plopped on the couch. "Zim needs you to find the y/n-human and bring him/her/them to me. Don't blow your cover. Figure out a way to get y/n to follow you here."

"Ooh a secret mission! Can I be a mongoose?" Gir asked excitedly. "Is y/n the pretty human you've been hanging out with? Are they your significant other? Is this a surprise date? I'll bake the cake!" Gir, already forgetting his assignment, attempted to run into the kitchen to prepare things.

Zim blushed and angrily called back out to him. "No, Gir. This is not a date. I would tell you why you are retrieving the hyooman, but I don't trust you enough to not tell him/her/them."

"Aw." Gir's antenna slumped down in disappointment. "Somebody needs a hug!" He instantly returned to his hyper ways and jumped onto Zim's face.

"Gir! I order you to stop! Go do what the almighty Zim has ordered you to do! Go now, Gir!" He pried the small robot from his head. Gir saluted to him and changed into his dog disguise. Breaking a window on his way out, he began his journey to find you.

Some reader and Zim fluff time is coming soon, I promise! Soon you'll know what the reader's big secret is!
