Your P.O.V
"So you broke up?" Cadenza was loud and almost sounded angry.
"Yes." I said slightly hesitant.
Garroth hadn't said much which made me slightly nervous to say anything. I'd rather believe that he didn't say anything because he was stuffing his face with macaroni and cheese that he made the Baseball coach warm up in the teachers lounge.
"For what." Cadenza yelled again making me move my head back.
That was the question we didn't have an answer for.
"Because." I said although it didn't come out very convincing.
"Is it because of what I said?" Aphmau asked suddenly, she had been slient before and hearing her voice was almost a surprise.
It took me a moment to even realise what she was talking about. She had told us she didn't want to date Garroth or Laurance because she didn't know them well at the time. But thats exactly what I did.
"What'd you say?" Garroth asked, I wished he had just kept eating his mac and cheese.
Aphmau instantly looked worried as she looked from Garroth to me and back to Garroth.
"Just that you didn't really know eachother when you started dating." Aphmau said slowly.
Garroth nodded and leaned back without saying anything else. I looked over at him but didn't get any information. He looked exactly as he had before, like he wasn't interested in saying anything. I wished I was able to read his mind but it always seemed like he blocked himself off when I wanted to know what he was thinking.
I turned my head to the other side and almost jumped back. Katelyn had definitely been sitting next to me before but now Cadenza's angry face was staring at me.
"You're lieing." She whispered.
"What?" I asked trying to act as though I had no idea what she was talking about, even though I have a pretty good idea of what she's talking about.
Cadenza gave me a look that seemed like disappointment before she grabbed my hand and stood up, strugling to get me to stand.
"Where are we going?" I asked standing up but not letting her pull me.
"Throwing trash away." Cadenza said not sounding convincing at all but she did hold up an empty bag.
Cadenza walked afew steps and when I didn't come with she pulled on my wrist almost making me trip over my seat.
"Why are you lieing to us?" Cadenza asked as soon as we reached the nearest trash can. I was surprised she was keeping her voice down.
"What? I'm not." I said trying my best to sound convincing although Cadenza was already making me nervous.
"Y/N I've known Garroth since I was in seventh grade, he's like my second brother. Laurance might be completely oblivious but I see the way Garroth looks at you. Like you're the only person in the room. There's no way he would break up with you, even if it was mutual." Cadenza crossed her arms across her chest.
"Well that's what happened." I said after a moment. What else was I supposed to say.
"I don't believe you." Cadenza said simply.
"Okay," I let out a stiffled laugh, "then don't believe me." Cadenza glared at me before she spoke again.
"I don't." Cadenza repeated. I looked at her for a second with my mouth open. She looked so serious I had no idea what to say. When the bell rang I gave Cadenza a small smile and walked to the doorway relieved. Saved by the bell once again.
"You don't need to wait for me." Garroth said, it only took him afew seconds to catch up to me after the bell rang.
"What?" I asked confused.
"You're not my girlfriend, don't wait for me." Garroth said looking towards me with an eyebrow raised.
"But," I stopped not able to think of anything to say other than 'we're friends', "okay."
---------------------
"I still don't understand why." Katelyn didn't seem to care much yet she kept asking questions.
"There isn't a reason." I said for what felt like the fifth time, "We're better friends for now."
"So it is what Aphmau said? You don't know eachother well enough." Lucinda asked.
"I don't know." I said, "Maybe partially."
"So you'll get back together later." Katelyn said it as a statement, like she was sure of it.
"Maybe." I said trying my best to sound unsure even though I knew the answer was yes.
"You baffle me." Katelyn said, her arms were crossed across her chest as she was waiting for me to be done changing, but apparently she was tired of waiting because she walked away with Lucinda behind her. I finnished tieing my shoes and walked into the hallway.
I stood there for just a second before wanting to walk away. "You're not my girlfriend, don't wait for me." Was I supposed to wait for him, he had told me not to. But after school was different than going to class, right? Especially since he's leaving with me, going to my house.
"I told you not to wait for me." Garroth said, he walked past me as he exited the locker room.
So I was wrong.
"I know but I didn't know since you're coming-" I stopped talking knowing there was probably someone who could hear.
"Relax I'm messing with you it's fine." Garroth said, he was walking faster than me still.
"Why are you walking so fast?" I asked.
"I'm trying not to walk next to you, friend." Garroth looked at me with no expression, he looked so calm I questioned if he was joking with me or not. So I slowed down until I was behind him, and without looking back at me so did Garroth.
I got into the passenger's seat of Garroth's car, which I'm sure was more suspicious than walking together. But I didn't care. I didn't want to act like I hated him, but I'd tell our friends that if it meant I didn't have to tell my parents anything.
"You think we don't know eachother." Garroth said almost instantly after I closed the door.
"What?" I asked confused.
"You think we got together to early." He was talking about what Aphmau said.
"No, I don't think that. That's what Aphmau said, about why she wouldn't date you or Laurance." I said, my voice going unintentionally quiet.
"Then why would she say that, at lunch. What'd you say? You agree, it was to early to get together, you don't love me." Garroth sounded hurt, but how was I supposed to reply when none of that was true.
"No I didn't say that. You're overreacting right now." I said instantly realising I sounded very bitchy.
"It doesn't feel like I'm overreacting." Garroth said grabbing at the center council of the car multiple times even though his hand was already at the edge, "Why won't you tell your Dad about me. Because your going to really break up with me in a week."
"No that's not it. Where are you getting this?" I asked.
"Then why?" Garroth asked, I don't think he was getting this from any other place than his head.
"Because I don't want you to be told you're not good enough. Because that's not what I think." I said not realising how loud we were both talking.
"Why don't I believe you?" Garroth asked instantly more quiet.
"Thats a good question. Now are you done interrogating me, because if not I'm leaving." I said.
"Then leave." Garroth said lifting his hand and motioning towards the door. I wanted to believe he thought I was bluffing, and that he wasn't telling me to leave. But I wasn't bluffing, I opened the car door and walked outside.
Thank you all for reading this chapter I just have one thing to say. I get these chapters out as fast as I can for you guys and alot of them aren't edited. Almost the whole book is unedited so I know that I have tons of spelling errors. I'm sure no one is trying to be rude but I'd prefer to not be corrected. If I've messed up a sentence so bad you can't read it then absolutely ask in the comments and I'll try to answer. Thank you all.
