According to the Village People, it's fun to stay at the YMCA.  Presumably because they were having a lot of hot and illicit gay sex there back in the 70's when the song came out.

I didn't even know until I heard that song that you could actually stay at a YMCA.  I remember occasionally going to one when I was a kid for swimming lessons or maybe a summer day camp or something.  They did have Olympic-sized swimming pools and diving pools that were super deep and that was cool.  I have some vague memories of venturing into other parts of the building, which I recall being huge and I think there were other big rooms where you could play basketball or racquetball or even tennis.  Mostly I seem to remember the swimming pools though.  That's where I spent the most time and it wasn't like I went there that often.

It does seem like there were a lot of fun activities there.  It probably would be a pretty fun place to stay.  Even without all the gay sex.
