There are approximately 9,243 miles (or 14,875 km) between me and my best friend.

Nine thousand, two hundred, fourty-three. That's a lot.

(Sometimes, I miss her. Which, someone please explain to me how I can miss someone I've never met, because I think it is awfully unfair.)

The distance between most pairs of best friends are about 20 minutes long, maybe? Close enough to be able to come over whenever, just to watch the newest movie or try out a certain tik tok trend.

Unfortunately, trying to get a ride across the globe is a lot harder than half an hour.

Point being, I don't get to see her. One of the most important people in my life, and I haven't even been on the same continent as her. Sounds rough, right?

Sometimes I guess it is, but in all honesty, I wouldn't have it any other way. Let me explain.

I love the relationship I have with her, it's just a nice, genuine friendship. Truth be told, I don't think we would have ever even spoken to each other if we knew one another in person. Our personalities are so different that it just doesn't seem like a match (Fun Fact: We joke that she is the "Iwaizumi to my Oikawa" and vise versa... I'm Oikawa.).

She is a lot more put together than I am, for sure. She drinks warm tea and goes to sleep before midnight. Meanwhile, I survive solely off of coke zero, and going to sleep before the sun rises is very rare. She listens to classical music to focus, I listen to alternative. It's a classic opposites attract situation, very much a friendship you'd read about on wattpad.

So, for whatever reason, the universe decided that we were going to be friends (thanks, universe). As friends do, we were on the phone last night. The topic of the future came up (Scary.), and we got to talking. In 10 years, are we going to look back and have each other be a faint memory? What about 5 years? 3? Even just 1?

1 year from now, am I still going to be able to say that she is my best friend? Will she still be as important to me?

With a bunch of questions, naturally I went to google, and of course they had the answer.
