Tap tap tap.
You could hear the rain hitting the window in your dreams briefly before you finally began to stir awake. There was a light drizzle outside the window right beside your bed, shared bed, i might add.
You bed was pressed into a corner near the window because you thought it was cozy and convenient for cuddling and such..at that period Veritas had argued that he preferred the bed be square in the middle against the back wall.
He was viciously stubborn to the point you bullshitted your reasoning into being that he could read easier with natural light from the window..although that didn't completely convince him, he decided to give in if you let him do the rest of the decorating.
In reality, there was really no 'letting' him do anything though, so..
the sun couldn't peek through the clouds, so it was mostly gray outside. You slowly began to open your eyes, writhing around in the mans arms before huffing. Veritas was very..very strict with PDA, but he was oddly affectionate behind closed doors.
Your head was resting on his bicep since he usually read until he fell asleep, speaking of, when you moved your head you bumped slightly into what you assumed into the book he was reading last night until he fell asleep.
His sleeping face was still as stern as ever, though, perhaps just a little softer, depending on how you look at him. His face, regardless of what he did, was chiseled and refined like some kind of Greek sculpture.
You rubbed your eyes and yawned before leaning back, your face no longer squished against his chest. He would usually squeeze you in his sleep, so it was pretty normal at this point for you to wake up to a face full of his chest.
You covered your mouth to stifle a yawn before looking at him with a drowsy smile, holding his face and gently rubbing his cheek, just admiring his sleeping face. The rain outside was getting heavier, tapping the window more and more until they started blurring together.
Finally, when this cacophony of rain was getting loud, did the doctor begin to stir just slightly.. he was a surprisingly heavy sleeper. You looked back out the window before looking back just to see he had opened his eyes just enough to see you, squinting as his eyes adjusted.
He grunted softly and let go of what little grip he had on his book to rub his eyes, "Oh, good morning, sleeping beauty.." you whispered softly to avoid auditorily over stimulating him. He grumbled softly before sighing.
"Hmphh..morning..." he grumbled and sat up to figure out where he left off in his book while trying to fix his hair slightly.
Only after he finished putting a bookmark in his book did he notice the heavy downpour outside, and he let out yet another sigh. "How lovely." He huffed and set his book aside.
You sat up and stretched before leaning onto him and yawning, "Hmm.. I think this is perfect home date weather.." You smiled at him despite his discontented frown.
"..this is the perfect weather for a bath." He grumbled into his hands as he rubbed his face before getting up and stretching. His back faced you, giving you ample time to ogle his sculpted body.
He didn't sleep shirtless often, but his pj's were in the washer and by the time he was in bed last night he was far too tired to get up and get them..it was a nice treat. "A bath? Hmm..i guess that's not a terrible idea." you smiled.
He looked back at you and tilted his head, "The least you could do is ask if you can join before assuming, idiot." He scoffed and turned away, making you laugh as he got up. "Awe~" You cooed and got up, wrapping your arms around his waist and giving him a squeeze.
"If i'm so stupid, why're you dating me huh Doctor?" You teased and kissed his shoulder before letting go, listening to his stubborn grumbles as you stepped into the bathroom before looking back at him.
"You comin?" You inquired, smiling as he glared at you "You and your incessant questions." He huffed as he followed you into the bathroom, leaning over to kiss your forehead. "Start the bath, i'll get a change of clothes." he hummed and pat your head before turning away and stepping out.
You nodded and turned away to start the bath, the bath was in a corner and plenty big enough for the two of you. It was surrounded by windows with the curtains drawn, not that it mattered, Veritas preferred his privacy so your home was rather remote.
You got the bath going, making sure the water was a comfortable temperature before you got undress and got in. Once it became silent, the sound of the rain hitting the surrounding windows was enough to soothe you into almost falling asleep.
But then You were jolted awake when you felt him pat your head, "Surely you're not stupid enough to fall asleep alone in the bath?" he hummed and set two neatly folded stacks of clothes aside before he got undressed.
"Hmph..but its comfortable in here, i can't help it." You mumbled and looked back at him briefly before stretching your legs out while you still had the space to do so. He narrowed his eyes and scoffed in disapproval before he got in.
You stared at eachother for a moment, before you inched closer and laid your head on his chest, and he wrapped his arm around you. "Hmph.." he huffed and looked off for a moment, reaching for his book.
"Has anyone ever told you how comfortable you are?" You joked and looked up at him, his eyes glanced from his book to you before he looked back at his book again. "You are the only one stupid enough for such words to leave your mouth." He stated before sighing and kissing the top of your head.
You giggled knowing he felt even a smidge guilty, "I know you don't mean it.." you muttered softly before leaning back a bit and turning your head to look out the windows at the cloudy sky and the rain drops that raced down the glass.
He hummed, the sound rumbling softly in his chest as he read, careful about getting water near the pages of his book as he looked down at you and relaxed a little. "Mm.." He hummed, narrowing his eyes before he swished the water around slightly, a little rubber duck bouncing on the little ripples.
His touch and his breathing along with the warm water and rain hitting the window..it was enough to slowly lull you to sleep. "you won't rip my head off if i fall asleep right?" You questioned with a chuckle to your tone.
He sighed and scoffed once again before toying with your strands of wet hair, "Suppose not, i'll wake you up once i'm bored of where i'm at in my book." he hummed and held you just a bit tighter to be sure you wouldn't sink below the waters surface.
You smiled to yourself and closed your eyes, listening to a myriad of soothing sounds put you right to sleep in his arms. You murmured soft incoherent words in your sleep as you dreamt, but they didn't seem to bother Ratio much.
He was content, as were you.
