𝓣𝓱𝓮 𝓶𝓸𝓻𝓷𝓲𝓷𝓰𝓼 𝓱𝓮𝓻𝓮 at Welton were peaceful on my side of the door. Since we were so closed off from everywhere, there wasn't car horns honking or people shouting outside the windows.

The way the sun shone through the window, made it dance on the door as I rubbed my eyes trying to wake up. I stared at the ceiling while stretching. After a week of being here I was finally getting use to the bed again.

I thought about the day ahead and internally groaned at the thought of leaving my warm bed. I could stay here forever if I wanted to.

*𝗞𝗻𝗼𝗰𝗸*

But around here that wasn't possible, especially with...

"Morning sunshine"

...Charlie dalton living down the hall from me.

I rolled my eyes as he closed the door behind him. He was wearing a white shirt and a pair of plaid bottoms. He had a towel around his neck and his uniform and a toothbrush in his hands.

I sat up in my bed rubbing my eyes, before yawning "some people wait till they're invited in before they walk into a room" I told him as he made his way over to my bed, leaning down so he was level with me

"Well how lucky are you that l even knocked?" He said leaving a kiss on my forehead before I threw the covers off me and made for my bathroom where I grabbed my toothbrush

"What are you doing here Charlie?" I asked him

"Cant I just be here because I've missed looking at your beautiful face?" I gave him a tired look turning towards the sink "I was wondering if I could use your shower?" He asked me and I turned back to him with my eyebrows pulled together.

"Why can't you use the main ones?" I began brushing my teeth as I leaned against the sink while he stood at the bathroom door.

He sighed and walked into the bathroom before sitting on the closed toilet seat. "It's packed. I'll be late for class if I wait for them to finish"

"Why not just shower at night?" I asked him. His eyebrows creasing when he looked at me

"Why would I shower at night?"

"So you don't bring dirt from the day into your bed" I told him as he made a face of understanding before nodding

"Oh right. That smart Soph. But I didn't shower last night so I need to get one this morning" he told me

I contemplated for a minute while I finished brushing my teeth. I rinsed out my mouth and put the toothbrush back in the holder when I heard him moving.

I lifted my head to look in the mirror but was met with two reflections. Charlie was stood behind me with a pleading look. "Fine. But you have to clean up in here after" I told him as he smiled at me before wrapping his arms around me and pulling me back into his chest

"Thank you Soph" he said squeezing me and attacking my cheek in little kisses as I rolled my eyes walking out of the bathroom.

"Don't be too long please?" I half asked as he nodded and I shut the door behind me.

I sat at my desk and brushed out my hair when the sound of the shower turned on. I put my hair half up wanting it out of my face. I tied it with a small ribbon and judged it in the mirror before sighing and pushing out of my desk.

I made my bed and grabbed the uniform from my wardrobe where I'd had it hanging. The shower was still running so I stripped my pyjamas off and changed my underwear and bra before pulling the grey skirt on. I put on the red socks after that since my feet were freezing from the cold of the floor.

I grabbed my white shirt from the bed and pulled it on. I walked over to my desk, beginning to button the shirt up from the bottom up when the door of the bathroom door pulled open. I hadn't heard the shower turn off but I wish I had.

Because now Charlie Dalton, was now stood infront of me in only a towel, His hair wet and messy. Oh fu-

"Hey soph can you-" his sentence trailed of as his eyes flicked from my face down to the unbuttoned shirt and the white lace bra under it. On instinct I turned and let out a groan

"God Charlie, a bit of warning would be nice" I said as I finished buttoning up the shirt before turning back to him, a smirk across his face.

"I thought the door opening would've been enough" My face dropped into a cold stare as e held his hands up in defence before lifting his arm to lean against the door frame.

Kill me now

"Sorry, I was just gonna ask if you could run back to my room. I forgot my shirt" he said as my eyebrows pulled together.

"Seriously? One of the main parts of your uniform and you forget it?" I asked in return he shrugged.

"I mean I could go and get it but I don't know how Hager or Neil would react to me walking out of your room in just a towel" It pained me to say it but he was right. Neil would flip and Hager would end up punishing us both. I slipped on my shoes and made my way to the door "I'm sorry!" He called out after me as I flipped him off.

I made it to his door, knocking before walking in. The room was empty and I could see that Cameron's belonging were gone, he was in the showers.

I walked over to Charlie's wardrobe and pulled out the white shirt that was hanging up. I grabbed it and made it out the door as Cameron was walking towards me. My hand tightened around the shirt and I pulled it behind my back.

"Morning, Sophie" he smiled before his eyes flickered with confusion "What we're you doing in our room?" He asked as I froze on the spot, trying to think of anything to say apart from 'charlie got a shower in my room and forgot his shirt so i came to get it while he stays in my room in just a towel'.

If Cameron knew Charlie was showering in my room, he'd for sure tell Neil.

Neil

"I was just looking for Neil. I didn't see him in his room so I thought he may have been in with you and charlie" I said lying through my teeth. I was waiting for him to catch onto the bullshit excuse but he just nodded and walked towards his door

"Neil was in the showers, while I was there" he told me before looking towards his door "I don't know where charlie is though. I was gone before him so maybe he went to the showers while I was in there. Sorry sophie" he said as I waved him off

"No it's fine, thanks for that Cameron, I'll see you in class" I said walking backwards as he waved and closed the door behind him. I let out a breath before walking back towards my room

Charlie dalton, I'm gonna kill you.

The bathroom door was closed when I got in. I sighed and shut the door behind me before going over and knocking on the bathroom door.

"Cmon in" I heard him say from the other side causing me push it open. He was doing up his belt buckle and had his shoes and trousers on while his tie sat around his neck undone.

"Here" I said shoving the shirt towards him as he followed me out of the bathroom.

"Thanks for that Soph" he said as he pulled it around his shoulders. I grabbed my tie off the chair and began to do it up in the mirror as he buttoned his shirt.

"Cameron caught me" I told him as his eyes widened

"What did he say?" He asked me while I finished off my tie

"Wanted to know why I was in your room" I said, turning towards him. His tie was still hanging his shoulders undone as he buttons the wrists on his shirt.

"What did you tell him?" I came to stand infront of him and grabbed the tie and began doing it up while letting out a sigh. The corners of his mouth pulled up as he gazed down at me.

"Told him I was looking for Neil and that I thought he might be in your room"

"Did he buy it?" He asked as I finished the last bit of his tie.

*𝗸𝗻𝗼𝗰𝗸*

"Phi, we're you looking for me?" Both mine and Charlie's head turned towards the doors wide eyed.

"Yeah, I think he bought it" I said as charlie and I looked back at each other.

*𝗸𝗻𝗼𝗰𝗸*

"Be there in a second Neil" I said shoving Charlie back into the bathroom. He didn't complain or push against me as he shut the die letting me turn and go to the main one.

I pulled open the door, facing Neil who was looking at me worried as he stepped into my room. "You okay? Cameron said you were looking for me" he said. I stepped back from the door.

"Oh yeah I was..." I was stuck for an answer thats what I was, as I looked around my room spotting the trig book on my desk "I was just making sure you got question five done in trig. Don't want Hager demeriting you" I told him as he smiled

"Oh yeah, I got it off Cameron last night" he told me making me nod. He squinted his eyes looking at me before putting a hand up to my forehead "are you sure your okay? You seem a bit flushed"

"yeah I'm fine " I said as he nodded and took his hand away "Right well I guess that's it then" I said as I opened the door further for Neil to leave.

"Has anyone seen Charlie?" Knox asked walking into the room. Neil shook his head as my eyes went wide.

"No sorry Knox" Neil said, crossing his arms "he isn't in the showers is he?"

Knox shook his head thoughtfully looking between Neil and I. "No I just came out of them a few minutes ago and he wasn't there. Cameron said he was still in their room when he left"

"Well maybe he's just down at breakfast" I said guiding the out of my room. They were almost gone.

Almost

"Have any of you seen Dalton? He's got my trig homework" Meeks said walking into my room making Neil and Knox's walk back in along with him. "He wasn't down at breakfast I thought he might be up here" he turned towards us.

My eye glanced to the door of the bathroom hoping that Charlie would stay quiet until I got them out. I rubbed the back of my neck before looking back at the boys

"Maybe he's outside. He said Nolan wanted him doing soccer this year" I said. Knox shook his head

"Charlie hardly does soccer when he's supposed to, I doubt he'd be training extra"

"Well maybe he wanted to get a head start. Look this little catch up has been really nice but I need to finish getting ready" I told them trying to shove them out of the room. Neil looked me up and Down confused.

"But your ready? All you need is your blazer" he said pointing towards my chair as they got outside my door.

"I need to do my hair" I said as Meeks looked at my hair lifting his hand up slightly as his fingers glided across the ribbon

"But it's done" he said

"I need to sort out a problem from this morning"  I told them.

*𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗴*

I internally groaned as the boys heads popped back in the door looking towards my bathroom Before looking back at me

"What was that?" Meeks asked as I looked between them

"A bird?" I said unsure.

"A bird?" Neil repeated while I nodded.

"Yes. A bird flew in through my bathroom window earlier. That's why I took so long to answer and why I looked flushed. I was getting the bird out" I told him as Knox looked at me unsure

"And now he's back?" He asked me as I pressed my lips together.

"Mhm"

"Tweet tweet" the boys heads turned towards the bathroom door as I looked down in defeat. I cursed at Charlie in my head before looking back at the boys

"You see. So I'll meet you down stairs for breakfast. Once i sort out the bird problem" I told them as Neil nodded and pulled the guys away

"We'll save you a seat"

I shut the door behind me and let out a sigh as the bathroom pulled open and Charlie walked out.

"That was close" he said looking at me while I looked back at him with wide eyes.

"Close? What on earth was that. Tweet tweet?" I asked him as he threw his arms out to the side

"I thought it would convince them" he told me as I walked towards him

"Co-Convince them? What bird do you know that actually says the words tweet tweet" I asked him incredulously. His mouth opened before I cut in "and do not say tweety bird" his mouth closed again as I shook my head "what did you even knock over?"

"The shampoo bottles you have on the shelves" he told me as I looked back at him.

"You better hope for your sake that they bought that" I grabbed my blazer off the chair and walked towards the door. "Wait for a minute and then come out" I told him before walking out.

"Hey soph!" He called out making me look back

"What?"

"Thanks" he said smiling as I closed the door. The boys rooms were empty so I assumed they were all down at breakfast.

When I got to the hall the six boys were all sat around the table talking about homework they had yet to complete.

Neil saw me and shifted over a bit making room for me. "Hey Phi" he said grabbing me some toast from the other end of the table.

"How's the radio coming along guys?" I asked Meeks and Pitts. They were sat across from me, Meeks with the small radar and Pitts with the radio.

"It's not great Sophie, we can't seem to get it to connect" Pitts told me before looking back down at it. Knox pearked up from beside me calling out to someone

"Hey Charlie, where you been? We've been looking for you all morning" he said moving to the other side of the table while Charlie took the seat beside me where Knox had been.

"Sorry Mr. Nolan wanted to talk to me about the soccer team this year so I had to go to him" he said while I looked down towards my breakfast

"Hey Phi, you were right" Neil said elbowing me playfully in the side.

"Soph, right? I find that hard to believe " Charlie sneered from beside me.

"No she actually was. We went to her room this morning to see if she knew where you were. She said it might be to do with soccer" Knox explained before putting his knife down, looking to me "how did it go with the bird? Did you get it out?"

"Bird?"

"There was a bird in your room?"

Cameron and Pitts asked me at the same time. My eyes widened a bit and I saw Charlie smirking from beside me. "Ehm yeah, a bird got in" I told them

"Twice" Knox's added while the two boys looked at me with wide eyes

"How did it get in?" Pitts asked me intrigued

"I had the window opened and it just flew in" I told them while I focused back on my breakfast.

"What kind of bird was it?" Charlie asked making me look up at him annoyed. I looked around the table at the books were were more guises on me waiting for an answer.

"I- I don't know, it was small and had wings"

"Well that narrows it down" Neil joked from beside me, making me turn to him with a scowl

"Well that's all I know, I don't know many birds" I told them while Charlie rested his head on his hand

"Was it like, I dont know. Tweety bird?" He asked as my foot came down on his under the table earning a groan from him. Todd at the top of the table who hasn't said much chuckled a bit under his breath.

"You okay Charlie?" Pitts asked looking up from the radio.

"Yeah sorry, leg cramp" he said looking at me with daggers. I turned back to the boys changing the topic.

"How did getting ready go this morning? I heard the showers were packed" I asked lifting the orange juice, the guys looking up at me in the process

"The showers weren't packed this morning" Pitts said from the other side of the table, his eyebrows pulling together. My hand stopped "they were actually pretty empty. Where did you hear that from?" I put down my glass back down, looking towards Pitts

"Just heard it in passing" I told him.

I'm. going. to. kill. him.

I looked over at him to see him eating his toast not bothered at all. Neil snapped me out of my thoughts

"Hey Sophie, why didn't you ask Todd where I was this morning before asking Cameron?. He was in the room" he said buttering his toast. I almost choked on the piece of bread I was eating. I had forgotten Todd might've been in the room.

"Oh I-" I looked around to see everyone's attention was on me. Again "well I-"

"She did" all our head turned to Todd. It was the first thing he'd said all morning. He looked at me nodding "S-she came in and asked if I'd seen you" he said looking to Neil "I told her that I hadn't and that she should ask Cameron" he said before looking down at his plate.

Charlie's eyes were wide as he looked at Todd. He hadn't uttered a more than ten words since we'd met him and here he was lying to save our asses. Everyone went back to their breakfast and Todd raised his head one last time looking over at me. I smiled at him and in return I got a nod.

Todd was smart, he knew something was going on and instead of watching me dig a hole for myself, he put his hand down and pulled me out.

And thank god for that.
