12 years

That is how long (l/n)(y/n) had spent locked up.

After she was sent to juvie, Kokonoi didn't visit her once, just as she had wanted. In fact no one visited her, not even her parents. This didn't surprise her though. What parents would want to visit their child who had murdered someone and had done similar things in the past? Well certainly not (y/n)'s.

The metal door was opened and she walked to the gate with an armed prison guard by her side and nothing but the clothes she was wearing and a small bag. She was finally released after her sentence. As expected, no one was waiting for her outside the gate. She laughed at herself for secretly hoping that Kokonoi or even Mikey would be there to pick her up, but alas she would have to make the journey home alone. Not that she had anywhere to go. The only thing her parents had sent her while she was locked up was a letter saying not to return home and that they had sold all of her belongings. They told her that she was no longer their daughter and that if it were their choice she'd spend the rest of her life rotting in a dingy old cell. That or they'd have her sentenced to death.

Clearing all that from her mind she exited through the gate and out of the prison. Once she had stepped into freedom she looked up at the clear blue sky and took a deep breath. She had been outside in the yard plenty of times during her sentence but now that she was released the air suddenly felt fresher and more pure.

She walked through the streets for a few hours until she finally made it to a cemetery and stopped in front of a stone with (f/n)'s family name inscribed on its surface. There were some wilted flowers left leaning against the carved out stone.

"I'm sorry (f/n), I don't have any flowers to give you or any incense to light" the (h/c) haired girl knelt down in front of the memorial stone. "And I wasn't able to make it to your funeral either, damn I'm such a bad friend...

"Ugh What do I say? Jeez I've never done this before. Umm, well I'd like to say I've been doing good but exactly how can I be good while I'm locked in a cell heh. Though I guess it's my own fault for putting myself in there huh?"

(Y/n) looked at her hands that were clasped together together on her lap and took a deep breath as she wiped a tear that had rolled down her cheek and the cherry blossoms fell all around her. While spring was supposed to represent renewal and new beginnings, (y/n) couldn't just simply restart, not after what she had done and what she had dragged others into. It was all her fault. She closer here eyes and put both of her hands together.

After saying a few more words she stood up and said one final thing before leaving "goodbye, (f/n)."

(Y/n) began walking towards the exit to the cemetery when her eyes landed on another memorial stone with the name 'Shiba' carved out onto it. After a second of consideration she walked over to the stone and said "I'm sorry, I guess I was wrong to do that. You were wrong to kill Reiko but I didn't think it through and I made people suffer because of my selfishness."

She was aware that an apology was pointless, what good would a simple 'sorry' do for a dead person? All it achieved was a mild form of comfort for (y/n). Once again she closed her eyes and put her hands together but this time she was interrupted.

"I knew this would be the first place you'd go to," a voice spoke calmly from behind her. "Damn you look like shit, though I guess that's to be expected after being locked up for 12 years."

That voice and sarcastic tone, (y/n) could recognise it anywhere. "Well between all the lumpy beds and slimy shared showers I think I look pretty good."

When she turned around the man that stood there was without a doubt Kokonoi but at the same time he looked so different it was hard to believe it was still him. Long silver hair with a tattoo on the side of his head. He'd gotten taller too and his features were even more attractive than when they had been 15. But his eyes, they were exactly the same. They still had this dark piercing stare to them that somehow felt even more intense now. Of course Kokonoi would have changed in 12 years but deep inside (y/n) was hoping she'd come out to see a 15 year old boy with his usual black fluffy hair and white jacket with the black dragons symbol on the back. Although that was impossible, not only was he now 27 but the black dragons were gone, well not exactly but they certainly weren't what they used to be.

But the old Kokonoi, the one that she remembered from all those years ago. That's what she'd wanted to see, even though she had told him to forget her.

"Koko, I told you to forget about me" (y/n)'s voice was quite, almost a whisper.

"To be honest with you I did try," Kokonoi walked forward so that he was only a foot away from her. "But I quickly realised that forgetting you was the last thing I wanted."

He took one step forward and wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close to him in a tight embrace. He buried his face in the crook of her neck "I missed you (y/n)."

"Hehe I missed you too Koko," she said and wrapped her arms around him as well. "Oh right. I Umm, I don't have anywhere to go."

"Huh?"

"Well I have no money and you see my parents kinda disowned me so~" they released each other from the hug and (y/n) awkwardly smiled. She hadn't wanted to ask Kokonoi this after seeing him again for the first time in 12 but she didn't know what else to do, and judging by the clothes he was wearing he was probably loaded.

He smiled and patted her head "you moron, you can stay with me."

"Huh? Really? You're okay with that?" (Y/n) looked at him in disbelief.

"Yeah, now let's go because I'm sure a cemetery isn't the bast place to talk about this. I'll drive you to my place" he took her hand and lead her out of the cemeteries metal gates and to a fancy looking, white car.

She was right.

He's loaded.

They sat in the car for around 20-30 minutes talking and joking around together, almost as if nothing had happened. (Y/n) told stories about her time in prison while Kokonoi just listened and laughed along with her. "So Koko, what have you been up to?"

He didn't respond at first, he just kept his eyes focused on the road before simply answering "nothing to interesting."

Although that seemed a little hard to believe.

"Oh I see. How's Inui doing? You two were always together last time I saw you," (y/n) asked but quickly realised it was the wrong question and she should have just kept her mouth shut. There began an awkward silence. "Koko?"

"You tell me. I haven't really seen him in about 11 years." He stated bluntly.

(Y/n) found that hard to believe. Those two were best friends. Multiple time when she was hanging out with Kokonoi he started talking about his blonde friend, and from the sounds of it they had been friends ever since they were kids.

"Did something happen?"

"No" he answered quickly "we just kinda drifted apart I guess"

"Oh I see."

Now they had arrived at Kokonoi's house. Now this absolutely confirmed (y/n)'s suspicions. Kokonoi was indeed, loaded.

It was a huge modern styled house with large windows and high ceilings. There was a pool visible from the window in the kitchen which was probably bigger than (y/n)'s old apartment that she lived in with her parents.

"You can choose a room. Apart from the one at the far right on the second floor, that ones mine" he explained and sat down on the overly huge couch in front of an equally huge tv.

(Y/n) walked up the white stairs to the second floor, she wanted to pick a room fairly close to Kokonoi's since she was unfamiliar with the house. Could you even call it a house? It was more of a mansion.

Once she chose a room she looked inside. The walls were high with lights hanging from the ceiling and a large bed with cushions and blankets. There was also a huge walk-in wardrobe and a desk with all kinds of books and a tv mounted on the wall above it. And to top it all off there was a big sliding door that lead to a balcony over looking the garden and pool and an en suite bathroom with a jacuzzi machine.

"Woah" (y/n) was shocked as she looked around in awe and placed her bag down on the bed.

"It's nice isn't it," Kokonoi was stood in the doorway, from the amused smile on his face apparently he had watched as she looked around the room in complete shock. "Go take a shower, I'll get some clothes for you."

Living with Kokonoi Hajime.

Of course she was the one who asked in the first place but it was certainly unexpected that she'd end up living in a house like this.

After seeing her again Kokonoi was now sure of it.

(Y/n) wasn't like Akane. Originally he thought they were similar and that she reminded him of his old crush. But no.

The smile wasn't the same. Akane had a sweet and innocent smile. (Y/n) had a warm and almost mischievous smile.

Perhaps he only saw Akane in (y/n) because he was desperate to see her again. But now, 12 years later he realised that seeing Akane again wasn't what he wanted. All he had wanted for those long 12 years was to see (y/n). If she didn't get locked up then maybe he would never have even figured it out.

Now he jus hoped that she hadn't changed to much since back then. Although he himself had changed a lot over the years he just wanted to see that same, warm, mischievous smile she always wore when they were together.

He'd wanted it so badly in fact that he'd actually planned on letting her stay with him before she had even asked. It was shocking when she asked to stay with him but it made him happy, it meant she was still comfortable being around him and she still trusted him.

She didn't know about Bonten, and he had no intention of telling her. He didn't want to scare her off and getting her involved with his work was the last thing he wanted to do. So, for now at least, he would keep it a secret.

He stood with some clothes he had picked out himself for (y/n) before she was released and then made his way back up to her room. He could here the sound of running water coming from the bathroom and (y/n)'s joyful humming. He placed the clothes down on the bed next to her bag before leaving her room. He didn't want to be there when she came out of the shower, that would only make things uncomfortable and awkward.
