Enjoy this story! Like I've said before Tanaka is my favourite and soooo underrated. Haikyuu does not belong to me. This will follow the base timeline  but not fully I will change stuff.

"Good morning big brother." I say happily. "Can you believe it? First day of high school, your baby sister is all grown up." I smile putting on the facade of fake confidence. In reality I feel like puking. Anyone would be nervous for their first day of high school.

"Ah shut up and get ready so I can take you to school. I'll make you an omelette." Keishin-nii groans still half asleep. Grabbing a frying pan out of the cabinet.

"Thank you!" I smile jogging down the hallway . Keishin-nii and I don't live in anything fancy. Just the space above the store. Our 'house' is 2 room, 1 bath with the kitchen attached to the living room which isn't that big on its own. But there are only two of us so it's not that bad.

After brushing my teeth and washing my face I dressed into my new uniform. Free of any wrinkles, clean and fresh. When it came to my hair I don't really know what to do. I only live with Keishin-nii and he can't do anything with my hair so I just leave it done and grab my bag pack.  I walk down to the kitchen where Keishin-nii  seems to be more awake. He hands me a plate with a veggie omelette and I thank him.

"So have you thought of what club to join? It's mandatory y'know." He asks grabbing a cigarette and placing it in his mouth before lighting it.

"That's gonna kill you." I sigh grabbing it from his hand and putting it out on the ash tray before I go grab scissors and cutting it in half which my dear brother sighs at. He can't get mad at me, he knows I'm right. 

"Let me have one!" He tries and protests.

"And yes I have. I'm gonna sign up for a manager position on the boys volley ball team. Y'know carry the tradition of many Ukai's before me." I ignore his previous statement.

"It's only been two Ukai's. It's not much of a tradition." He chuckles silently.

"Well gramps said it would make him happy and I'm not athletic enough to join the girls team so a manager sounded like a good compromise. Besides I like volley ball." I explain taking a bite of my food.  I finish my omelet and put it in the dishwasher. 

"C'mon get in the car."

I sat where I was assigned by Ms. Sasaki , my homeroom teacher. I was seated in between a tall blond boy who was behind a freckled boy. 

"Hi I'm Y/N. You are?" I ask . We are going g to be sitting next to each other for a while so might as well be nice.

"Kei Tsukishima." He says flatly and doesn't even spare me a glance. Rude.

" Sorry he is always like that. I'm Tadashi Yamaguchi. " the freckled boy chuckles.

" It's nice to meet you Yamaguchi - san. "

After school Club Activities

I knock on the grey gym doors holding my sign up papers. The door is opened by a very pretty girl. Black shiny hair, slim figure, pink glasses and even a beauty mark below her lip. This girl has to be a third year.

"Are you here to sign up for the volley ball club manager position? I'm Kiyoko Shimizu." She asks excitedly, almost in shock.

" Yes. I'm Y/N Ukai. " I bow slightly giving the girl a nervous smile.

 "Ukai?" Kiyoko-senpai asks in shock and I nod.

" Ya my grandfather used to coach this team and my brother used to be on the team too. " I laugh shyly scratching the back of my neck.

"I see. Come in you can meet the pre existing team. Our tryouts are today  so I can teach you how to be a manager too." She smiles and  I nod. "Guys I would like you to meet someone!" She announces and we are the. crowded by about 6 boys.

"Go on. " Kiyoko senpai urges.

"Hello, I'm Y/N Ukai, first year. If it's alright with you I would like to become one of your managers." I smile waving shyly .

"Ukai? As in Crazy Crow Coach Ukai?" One of them asks.

 "Ahahah that's what people called him?" I laugh . I always new Gramps was tough but to earn a nickname like that. "But yes he is my grandfather." I smile , calming down from my laughing fit.

 "Well, welcome to the team. I'm your captain - Daichi Sawamura." Daichi-senpai informs me, stretching his hand out for a shake. I oblige and shake his hand. 

"Koushi Sugawara- vice captain." Suggests-senpai says. His voice as soothing as silk. His mop of grey hair flips around when he turns.

"Ennoshita." Another smiles at me a, a calm look on his face.

 "Kinoshita." Then there was " Narita. "

"Savng the best for last I see. The names Ryunosuke Tanaka, beautiful lady." A buzzed cut boy tells me. I can't lie he's cute but I don't like the way he is trying to 'charm' me. He extends his hand to shake and I take it in my hand being sure to make his shake firmer compared to the Captain's.

"How charming." I smile sarcastically .

"Ahhh that's a firm shake for someone so small." Tanaka- senpai recoil his hand and I laugh apologetically.

They hit the Vice Principal with a ball with his tupee! Oh my goodness that's good!

"That was a wig?" Kageyama questions .

"You couldn't tell at the entrance ceremony?" Hinata laughs through his sentence.

"Stop t-hats not even funny!"

" Ya  put your big boy pants on! " I say with Tanaka as we grasp each other's shoulders to keep from falling.

They were kicked out of the gym until they learned how to work together and now they are playing a match on Saturday. A three on three against the captain and two other first years and Tanaka, Hinata and Kageyama. 

"Practice is at 7 am right?" I say louder than I normally would so that the boys could here me from outside . 

"Ya, could you give me the key so I can open up the gym tomorrow? I would like to practice a little on my own before practice stars!" I guess Tanaka and I are on the same wave length.

"Yes it does and here. Don't loose it again." Daich -senpai says handing the key to Tanaka. 

"Some of us are going to stop at Sakinoshita 's to get some meat buns you wanna come ? " Sugawara-senpai asks.

"That's my brother 's store! Of course I'll  come." I laugh. 

" The grumpy guy is your brother? " tanaka asks to which I nod.

"Yup. Big age gap though he's 26. I wasn't exactly planned." I laugh. Mom and Dad had me by accident , but they said I'm  a good one. I lived with them before high school but decided to move in with Keishin-nii because it was closed to Karasuno.

"I can pay for the meat buns. Family discount." I smile and walk out the gym.

" Bye Y/N. You did good work today. " kiyoko -senpai smiles and I nod in thanks.

"Woah the goddess is smiling." Tanaka - senpai sigh in content.

"Big-brother! I'm home." I call out into the store.

"Hey! How was your first day of highs- you brought boys home!" He yelled swinging around his feather duster.

"Yes. You see them often,  they are part of the volleyball team. And they are in the store not upstairs." I remind him and he still eyes them oddly. "Don't mind my brother. He is just protective is all. Come on I'll get you guys fresher meat buns from the back." I smile at the three boys and lead them to the back where a small kitchen/ storage room is. I grab 4 barbecue pork buns and pass them to the boys.

"Thank you." They all say and I nod as we go outside to chat.

"So how are you liking the club so far?" Daichi-senpai asks, taking a bite out of the pot bun.

"It's seems really fun. You all seem very close. Thank you for asking Daichi-senpai." I say before taking a bite go my pork bun. 

"Eh! No need to be so formal! We all just go buy first or last names so no need for honourifics. " Sugawara explains waving his hands about.

"Force of habit I  guess." I chuckle.

"So do you live above the store?" Tanaka asks me.

"Yup. Just with my brother. I moved in a few months ago because it's closer to school. My parents live farther away." I explain.

"So I guess we'll walk you home then. We can't have are little manager getting hurt!" Tanaka wails and I smile.

"Thank you Tanaka."

"Well Suga and I are gonna go. Thanks Y/N!" Daichi calls out as he and Suga leave.

"So we are gonna be at the gym at 5 am." 

"I'll pick you up."
