Mikey's POV
I was ten years old when I first met Y/n. When we were finding a base to hang out to, Baji recommended the Musashi Shrine.
We all agreed since it's always vacant and empty.
Or so we thought...
The first time we went there, we saw a young girl that was also our age sweeping the dried leaves.
She was wearing a white and red hakama. Her h/c hair was tied into a (hairstyle).
She approached us.
"Are you here to pray?" she said in a gentle tone.
"Uhh, we're just here to hang out. Is that alright?" Baji asked
She went silent for a moment like she was thinking and smiled.
"Sure, just don't make a mess and don't break anything." She said in a threatening voice.
"Huh? Who are you to say that in that tone?" Pah said while nearing the girl.
Before I could stop Pah, the girl pointed her broomstick at his neck.
"My name is Y/n L/n, a shrine maiden in training." She said calmly.
"We're sorry about our friend Pah, thanks for letting us stay. We won't make a mess or destroy anything." Ken-chin said while bowing with Pah
The girls smiled again and assured him that it was alright.
"Y/n-chin, let's be friends." I said happily.
"Alright, what's your name?" She asked
"Manjiro, Sano Manjiro but you can call me Mikey." I said
That was the start of our friendship. When we were 11 I eventually caught feelings and confessed.
I was prepared to be rejected like Shin-nii but she said she felt the same. We were happy and content. She completed me like the final puzzle piece.
When Shin-nii died she never left me. We continued to grow toman since then and became the rulers of Shibuya.
When Baji died she was also there. Not only for me but for everyone.
When Emma died, she held me close. Reassuring that none of these deaths was my fault. Even when Ken-chin got angry, she was there by my side.
When I learned about Takemichi's secret, we fought Tenjiku together and won.
After disbanding Toman, she never left my side but I pushed her away.
I thought that it was for the best, I didn't want to lose her too. She's the only one I got left. She's the only reason why I have my last bit of sanity.
I thought she was safe but she wasn't.
South Terano, another gang leader in Tokyo wanted her.
That bast*rd went to her shrine and brought men. He wanted Y/n to join his gang and be his woman and use her against me.
Y/n fought back, but she was only one and they were 20.
Despite being a swordswoman, 1 woman vs 20 men is difficult. She was winning until someone pulled a gun.
They shot her and just left her to die.
I was on my way to visit her for the last time because I'll be creating a new gang.
Sanzu was with me, he became my righthand man. It was raining that day.
My gut feels something wrong so I rushed to the shrine but when I got there my eyes widened.
I stood frozen in my place, my eyes had no emotion.
This isn't true right? I'm just dreaming, right? Not you too. I thought
When Sanzu arrived not long after he rushed towards Y/n. They were best friends after all. They both learned Iaido together.
"Y/n! Y/n! What happened who did this to you." Sanzu frantically asked. He also called the ambulance.
"Haru, I guess your right. I'm really weak." she weakly said
"What do you mean? What happened?" Sanzu asked again
"Terano, he came and asked me to join him." She replied.
"What do you mean asked? Is this what you do when you ask?" he said with anger.
"Ne, Haru, remember the katana that I owned?" She asked
"Of course, you were proud of it. You always take care of it even if you don't use it." Sanzu said.
"I'm giving it to you now. It's precious to me so take care of it but in return protect someone precious to me. Take care of Jiro for me." She said.
"Ne, Haru, where's Jiro?" she softly asked.
Sanzu looked at me while I was still frozen in place. I was pulled out of my thoughts when Y/n called for me.
"Jiro" she said and I went to her.
"Y/n, why didn't you just agree to join them. You wouldn't have gotten hurt." I said in a pained voice.
"Idiot, I would never choose another besides you. I promised right? Even if you push me away, I'll always choose you." she said softly
"I pushed you away because I don't want you to end up like this." I said while tearing up.
"I don't regret getting hurt or dying for you. I just love you so much." she said.
"Please don't leave me too." I said
"Ne, Jiro, can I see you smile again?" she asked.
I smiled weakly and she also smiled.
"I miss the way you smiled back when we first met. Promise me one thing Jiro, take care of yourself too." she said softly.
I didn't say anything and she weakly spread her arms and we hugged each other.
"I love you, Manjiro." she whispered as her hands fell limp. She's getting cold.
She's gone.
Gone
Gone
Gone
Gone
"Jiro"
"Jiro"
"Jiro"
I woke up and saw Y/n's worried face in front of me. I just noticed that I was laying in her lap.
"Jiro, did you have another bad dream? You were crying and mumbling things a while ago." she said
I said nothing and just hugged her torso and buried my face in her stomach.
She was surprised but she stroked my head and played with my hair. It was relaxing and comforting.
"I love you Y/n, don't leave me." I said softly.
"Of course, I'm not going anywhere, I love you too." she replied
