"Y/n-sama, your father has informed me that he will be visiting for the new year." Aki said while I was practicing another kagura dance for the new year.

"He's our father, Aki. And it's good to hear that he'll spend the new year with us. What about his job? Isn't there something big going on?" I asked.

I stopped my practice and wiped off my sweat. Aki gave me a glass of water.

"He said that it's almost done." She said.

"I see, then after his business, we're the only one that's not finished." I said

"Yes, from the information that I have gathered, Rika is making her move in Yokohama." She said and I let out a light chuckle.

"I see." I said and laid on the floor because of exhaustion and sighed.

"What's the matter Y/n-sama?" Aki asked

"A stray dog ​​kept following me earlier, it's not even a bit cute." I said

"Should we call the animal control? Rabies is commonly present in stray dogs. What if it bites others?" She said.

"Never mind." I said and stood up.

"Are you finished in your practice?" She asked

"Yeah, I've been here since 5 am. By the way, is Yuu-chan and Hakkai-kun awake?" I asked.

"Yes, the young lady is preparing breakfast while the other just left. He said he'll meet someone named Taka-chan." She said

"Oh, he meant Mitsuya. I see, thanks, I'll go take a bath. You guys can eat without me if I'm not yet done." I said and went to my room.

I don't know but I feel like there's something happening that I don't know. Aki is more formal in speaking today than usual. Is it my imagination?

"What's wrong, Mikey?" My sister asked as she cooks breakfast.

"Yeah, you've been sighing since you woke up." Aniki said.

"Don't tell me that you did something that made your fiance upset?" Grandpa asked while reading his newspaper.

"Of course not, why would I make her upset?" I said

"Good, you better not do anything stupid. She's a good kid, a perfect addition to our family." He said.

"Gramps, he's still a fifteen-year-old that refuses to take school properly. They're just engaged." Aniki said

"And you're already 25 years old and still without a girlfriend." Gramps said and Aniki choked on his water.

"H-hey, I'm almost there!" Aniki said and I only chuckled.

*ding dong*

"I'll go get it." I said and stood up. They didn't hear the doorbell ring because they were busy bickering about Aniki's love life.

I wonder who's there early this morning, maybe it's Ken-chin.

I'm still in my pajamas and my hair is still a mess but who cares, it's not like someone important is gonna see me this way. 

I completely froze when I saw the person outside the door.

"I have come to see my son-in-law and his family." He said.

"Mikey? It's time to eat who is at the doo-" Emma asked but stopped when she saw Y/n's dad. Wearing a suit with shades and his fedora. Behind him was a black car and another man in a suit waiting for him.

"LL/n-san, what brings you here this early? Please come in." Emma said. Tatsuya-san told his companion to wait as he entered the house.

"This is for everyone." He said and gave a basket of fruits and chocolates.

"Y-you didn't have to, L/n-san. You are always welcome to visit." Emma said and took the basket politely.

"Looks like you just woke up, did I come too early?" He asked and ruffled my hair.

"No you didn't, Tatsuya-san. I just woke up late." I said and he pinched my cheek.

"*Tsk* I told you to call me father, you stubborn kid." He said and let me go. I only laughed and rubbed my aching cheek.

"Have you had breakfast yet? We were just about to eat." I said and suddenly Aniki and Gramp appeared.

"Tatsuya-san!" Aniki said and waved at each other.

Tatsuya-san bowed to gramps with his hat off for respect and gramps also did the same.

"What brings you here this early?" Gramps asked

"Actually, I was here to take you out to breakfast. I have something to talk about with him." He said.

"Did my idiotic grandson do anything?" Gramps asked and Tatsuya-san laughed.

"Don't worry, he didn't do anything wrong. Yet. I'll just have something to discuss." He said

"I see." Gramps said and looked at me. "What are you still doing here, go get ready." He said and I nodded.

I rushed to my room to get changed and look at least presentable. Even when I have my memories of the other future, Tatsuya-san intimidates me a bit.

I and Tatsuya-san are now having breakfast in an expensive restaurant and it looks like he rented the whole place. It's only us and the staff in here, his companion is outside.

"Call me father." He said and I only sighed mentally.

"What is it you need to talk about, father? Does Y/n know you're here?" I asked as I ate the food. Tatsuya-san even requested to add a flag on my food, maybe Y/n told him to.

"I just want to see how you're doing. It's been a long time since I've talked to you privately. I didn't tell her because I just stopped by. I'll come back for the new year." He said.

"I see." I said and drank the hot beverage I ordered.

"So, Manjiro, I heard that you're going to fight again with another gang on the 25th." He said and I nod.

"Why did you choose that date?" He asked.

"It's because the leader of the enemy is away and we planned an ambush. We are few in numbers because most of our members are on holiday vacation so the enemy has the advantage in numbers." I explained

"Yes" I said and he sighed.

"Did you discuss this with Y/n? What did she say about this?" He asked.

"I already told her and she said that she will either be late or absent during that time." I said as I recall what I and Y/n talked about after the meeting.

"What is more important for you, my daughter, or your gang?" He asked seriously.

"Y/n, of course." I said immediately without hesitation.

"Then I'd like you to postpone your war and be with her on the 25th." He said.

"Huh?"

"You see, my daughter didn't want you to know about it but on every 25th of December and so on, she goes through something that I don't even know how to explain." He said

"You will know and see for yourself so I ask you to be with her because I couldn't this year." He said

"What's happened on the 25th?" I asked and he looked down.

"It's the anniversay for my adopted son's death." He said

"Yes, it was the day that Haruto was killed in front of her eyes." He said

"T-then, what do you mean about Y/n going through something you can't explain?" I asked.

"The doctors called it the "Anniversary effect" where a traumatic event resurface on a specific event. They said it's a part of ptsd, she's been having that for three years now." He said.

"Why didn't she told me anything?" I asked

"That's not for me to answer, son. Ask her yourself." He said

My head was filled with questions without answers.

We've been together for so long but I dind't even know about her suffering?

"Will you be by her side or continue the war you started?" He asked in a serious manner and I look in his eyes.

"I'll stay with her and help her as much as I can." I said and he sighed in relief before ruffling my hair and smiled.

"That's good to hear. You're such a reliable son, Manjiro." He said and I only smiled softly.

Am I really? I already failed her in a lifetime once and I almost failed her again.
