Y/N, BORIS, AND Theo all walk out of the school together, when Y/N realizes something catastrophic.

"Fuck," Y/N utters. It's often that she forgets things, but never her umbrella. That little black umbrella is a treasure...to her at least. Y/N backs up under the awning of the school. Sure, Y/N hates the sun, but she does more than anyone, even Boris. She won't take one step in it.

"What?" asks Boris, opening up his umbrella, as he squints due to the sun. Y/N let's out a breathy chuckle, before saying, "Left my umbrella at home."

"It's a short walk, you wouldn't be out in the sun too long," says Theo, also squinting. "No way, dude. My, uh, family member got skin cancer from the sun," Y/N responds. Theo eyes her, skeptically. Like previously stated, Y/N is bad at lying to Theo and Boris, and Y/N is quite definitely lying right now. Boris clears his throat.

"We can share mine," Boris says, a wide grin on his face. Theo's lips curve up into a smirk, and Y/N blushes just a bit. Y/N swiftly steps out of the awning and under Boris's umbrella. Boris, Y/N, and Theo walk to the sidewalk, and wait for the bus to arrive. Y/N is beaming, and swaying back and forth on her feet. The imminence of the sleepover she's going to have with Theo and Boris is exciting her an atypical amount. And, well, another reason she's so happy is because Boris just offered to share his umbrella. After about five minutes of waiting, the bus pulls up, looking as yellow as usual. The doors open, and the trio steps on. They take a seat in the sixth row.

"We used to see you walk home," says Boris, out of nowhere.

"Not in a creepy way, though," Theo adds, with a nervous laugh. Y/N chuckles, and replies with, "Yeah. To be honest, I'm glad I no longer walk home, it's so fucking hot." Boris and Theo agree, and the bus starts moving. Soon enough, the bus comes to a halt, stopping in front of Y/N, Theo, and Boris's neighborhood. Theo, Boris, and Y/N make their way to the front of the bus. The trio steps off, and they head in the direction of Theo's house. They reach his house, and quickly walk inside. Boris puts his umbrella away, and Y/N just feels relieved to be out of the sun, and away from all of the people. It's a good thing Theo's father (or step-mother) is never home.

"Ah yes, home sweet home," Y/N jokes. She knows it's not her house. Of course she does. But at times, she feels more at home in Theo's house than her own. Theo and Boris chuckle.

"Hungry, anyone?" Theo queries, a light smirk placed on his lips. Y/N and Boris's eyes light up.

"Yes!" They exclaim in unison. Theo laughs, and heads off to the kitchen, and Y/N and Boris walk to the living room.

Everyone has settled after enjoying Theo's food. The trio is sitting on the floor in front of the television. Though, they're not really paying any attention to the show, rather than their conversation.

"Cats," Boris argues.

"Dogs," Theo protests. "Dogs are just so much better! They actually do things! They play with you and stuff!"

"Dogs are cute, but cats are more cute," Boris says back.

"Hear me out...turtles...?" Y/N says in a questioning tone, not knowing what their reaction would be.

"Turtles? No no no, we're talking about the everlasting debate; cats or dogs. No turtles," Theo says, dismissing the idea of turtles.

"But turtles are better than both of those animals," Y/N states. Theo rolls his eyes.

"It's either cats or dogs, Y/N," says Theo.

"Fine, cats," Y/N answers.

"Hah! Told you," Boris exclaims, pointing a finger at Theo. Theo pushes up his glasses, and mutters, "Whatever."

Only about a half hour later, Theo is now passed out on the couch, lightly snoring. Y/N looks over to Theo, and chuckles.

"Out like a light," she utters. Boris laughs. Soon, the only audible sounds are Theo's soft snoring and the nonsense coming from the television. Y/N lies down on her back, staring up at the ceiling, lost in thought. Boris scoots closer to Y/N, copying her actions. Their proximity makes Y/N blush a little.

"What are you thinking about?" asks Boris. Y/N knows she shouldn't really tell, but it's like she feels safe with Boris. Like she can tell him anything. And she can, for Boris would never tell anyone her secrets if she didn't want him to.

"Honestly..." Y/N begins. "Anything and everything. My mother, my father, my broken family. All of it."

"What about you? What are you thinking about?" asks Y/N, not wanting to really trauma dump on Boris.

"Meh, nothing important," answers Boris.

"Oh come on. I know you're thinking about something," Y/N urges. Boris let's put a breathy chuckle.

"My father," he replies. "What about him?" Y/N pushes on.

"He...well...it's nothing," Boris decides not to tell. Y/N frowns slightly, but decides not to push any further.

"If you say so," she states.

"Tell me what you think about, Y/N," says Boris, turning to his side. He leans his head on his hand, and has his full attention on Y/N. Y/N gulps. She darts her eyes all across the room, not wanting to tell Boris what's really wrong. Her eyes land on a digital clock that reads: 3:00 am. 'Damn, it's already so late' Y/N thinks.

"Well, the reason I don't like the sun..." Y/N trails off, attempting to find the right words. "my mother died from skin cancer. It was so stupid, she shouldn't have. Not a lot of people actually die from skin cancer, but my mother did. That's why I always carry around that umbrella of mine. I was in disbelief for so long, it was so unreal. I still don't think I've gotten over it yet, either."
